Wychwood's Nick Helleur heads down to a local stretch of the Grand Union Canal in pursuit of some of the elusive carp. Fishing short morning sessions and keeping on the move was the name of the game.

nice! I've never bagged a canal carp, know a good river spot tho on private land where I've had shit ton of carp and a massive bream! the river connects to the canal but there's a big gravel bar that stops them leaving the river.

Which rods are those that Nick is using and would he using them for small river carping as well?

Nick was using a 12 foot Wychwood rod here, but he now uses the 9ft Extricators with a duplon handle for the majority of his fishing, including small rivers.

+les troy Basically he said mounted with cork balls. So what I would imagine hes done is held the rod with the alarm mounted on and wedged slithers of cork down inside of the alarm ears to press against the ears and rod. Hope that makes sense.
