    Idk if I could relate more to someone else’s health and fitness journey. From being overweight, to losing weight and becoming very fit, to then becoming injured and depressed and gaining more weight back, not once, but twice. And then now have slowly been making my way back down to my goal weight while trying to find balance because that’s what maintenance requires.
    I am very much an ‘all or nothing’ person, which can be great when motivated, driven, and disciplined but can be damning when the pendulum swings back to nothing. I also have a lot of experience in fitness/nutrition and I know I can lose weight when I’m dedicated to it. But now it’s trying to break that ‘all or nothing’ cycle and finding balance so that it will finally be sustainable.
    I’m 70lb down and finally am working on my last 15-20lb. This has been over the course of 2 years.
    Also, we are same age with our birthdays only days apart 😁😂 Gemini twins 👯 the similarities are comforting. Thanks for sharing your story.

      Thanks so much for sharing! That's so crazy that your journey has literally been the same as mine and with the birthdays too đŸ€ŁđŸ€Ł.
      For sure, I find having the knowledge and the past experience to be the biggest hurdle!! That self sabotage in the 'Nothing' period is soo tough, because you know you can just do it at some point - you just keep in the nothing lol waiting to get locked in.
      That's so awesome you've lost the 70lbs, and that sounds sooo much more sustainable how you have done it this time. I whole heartedly believe that this is the way! As you said, getting away from the All or Nothing mindset, and make those gradual steps!! I have no doubt that you will keep this off for life now.
      Thanks again for sharing, very inspiring!

    Nice work Tom. Been following along the journey and wish you the best. It sounds like you have the game plan and mindset down, now just execution. Can’t wait to see the results as you start incorporating more foods back into rotation. - Best from the US

      Thanks so much!! Yep, going to be interesting to track the changes for sure and show you don't need to cut everythinggg out to lose weight!!
      Shout out to the US! I was actually born in Denver, Colorado lol. English parents though who moved back when I was 2. So, surprisingly I am a US Citizen!

    i love the setup! i always enjoy your videos and i appreciate the valuable advice! i've considered doing carb cycling because i can't hold onto water for the life of me eating this way, but overall i'm just trying to find a better balance. i also have that same all or nothing mentality, but i find myself staying more on track now that i am ditching perfection. thank you!

      Thanks so much!! Yess, funny you say that as I think the approach I’m going to take is carb cycling too! For me dropping carbs is definitely the fastest and easiest way for me to lose fat - but I definitely feel like I’m missing the glycogen etc. In my bodybuilding days I used to refeed on a Sunday with cereal and rice cakes lol. Might be the move again now. Replenish and fuel, then burn it off again within the week! Think it’s good for balance for sure. As you lose more weight you can have another refeed day etc. End goal is to not need to be too strict and enjoy a variety of foods! I’m so glad you can resonate, getting away from that all or nothing mindset is sooo important!! I’m still trying to fight it aha. That’s so amazing you’re staying more on track, and for sure!! Progress over perfection! As long as we keep moving the right way, that’s all that matters!

    Congrats on your progress so far! I'm on Day 42 but just found out about carbs. When I cut down 75% of my regular carb intake, I feel extremely weak the next day. Is this a cut that should be done gradually or will my body get used to low carbs if I just stick with it?

      @tomsharpefitness  Pƙed měsĂcem +3

      Thanks so much!! Yeah you will feel weak cutting carbs, even though I'm doing it, I'd advise against it. Cutting slower would be better and it does take some time to adapt, but as long as you are in a deficit and have been losing weight - honestly don't bother with cutting carbs! I've done it a few times before, more so when I was already at a healthy weight so I find it easy.
