I almost got held back in the first grade because of this. I was having a hard time staying in the lines, turns out I needed glasses. More people have practice with crayon than probably anything else, so pushing yourself to change it up is great practice if you don't want to buy new paints like watercolor. Also being able to work with unique material is a great artist trait to have, no one can really copy your work!

Dear Miss Echo, I am known as the “Singing Nurse” in my ICU and wanted to learn how to watercolor paint which I have found a CZcams artist to encourage me, even if only via my tablet. I too was a crayon junkie in my younger years, to the extent when Bonnie and Smith removed the inherent scent A few years ago I made several 50 mile radius trips to locate the older crayons. Yes, I do have 43 boxes of 64 still in my stash. The reason I am writing to you is that in the 60’s I used my mother’s electric griddle in our basement to melt, combine and use these to invent new born colors, or “Colors by KC”,complete with topographical areas and “set” in cool water to create lovely dioramas. Needless to say my mother, aka as the _ itch or _ itch, choose an appropriate consonant, punished me severely. When I became successful in my own career, I sent “it” 25 griddles and left an approximate message with each. Can you sense the love lost here?? But, this was another way to experiment with these glorious little sticks of magic. When I had my own children, I made sure they had a wonderfully over-stocked art room with washable surfaces top-to-bottom. My daughter has a piece on permanent exhibition to a very prestigious museum in Rhode Island, my my where could that be?? So as I continue perusing yours and others encouraging videos, I will await that grandchild or 2 or 3, keep that room properly stocked, my IPad charged and be thankful that there are wonderfully talented and creative artists floating in cyber space waiting to be discovered. Even if only on an old griddle!!! Happy Holidays to you and Yours and more good things to come to your community in the New Year!!!
"i beat kids double my age with crayons" Weird flex but ok Edit - Lollll people really thought i was being mean, it's a meme. Chill, the drawings amazing 🙂
I always hated crayons as a kid. Too waxy, too textured. I wish I'd known this trick. Now that your kid knows this, no need to send him to school. He/she already has all he/she needs to get ahead in life.
@@kaivickers166 And to sing. I never went to kindergarten. When I got to school and heard of this magical place where you played and sang songs and did awesome art and got a social group I felt severely deprived. I was one of 11 children so it wasn't so much sharing as a fight to the death over limited resources. Think Hunger Games, but over toys and pencils and everything else.
I spent 36 years with crayons in my elementary classroom so I had to check out your video. Sometimes you have to embrace the waxy-ness, though. There are a lot of very good resist techniques.......
I have always hated the texture of wax crayons since I was kid and preferred to work with the sketch pens. Now I may go and try this method of coloring.
My lil brother used to do that with his finger nail when we were young and I couldn't stand his nails after they were so dirty.. but now he's a professional illustrator
I used to like crushing my crayons into a waxy powder and then storing it all just loose in a pencil tin. Worst child in the world. I'm glad I know how to use them properly now and also the wax removal is genius! ❤️🖤
I hated coloring with crayons as a kid, especially on the really cheap coloring book paper that was already textured because it was so cheap! But I love the way you blended the colors and then removed the wax on the final product. Nice! I may try crayons again...soon.
Same. Same. That was me as a kid, with the scraping and the hard pressure. I also like to put a piece of paper over it, and iron it. Now, sometimes there is a little bleed, but overall it looks pretty dope.
Thanks ever so much. Wow! Why wasn’t I taught this in kindergarten. I always achieved straight A’s in math and science but as a kid, likely the only kid, who could fail colouring in primary school. Until recently I hadn’t picked up a crayon in decades. I had even forgotten the way they taste. Your excellent tutorial has raised my recent level up to a solid D. I’ve become a closet crayon artist when the laboratory door is closed and nobody can see me. However, I still have the urge to peel the paper off of crayons and have recently had an urge to eat paste. Cheers from western Canada.

This is the most extra way to color with crayons and I love it
Looked this up originally 2 years ago so I could up my crayon coloring techniques. Found a similar way recently with q tips. So glad I found this video again.
My teachers always got mad at me for doing this cuz i was "coloring too hard" like BITCH i was being PASSIONATE about my art smh
Glad to see this and get the validation 6 year old me always needed
Lolll wtf kind of teacher was that...Does she know how much your hands hurts after colouring hard like that??!!Thats passion and perseverance especially for a young child!😂
Random but I had a random convo w/ this dude yesterday about my old ms newspaper editor/teacher/parent person telling me," you never ask an adult why." I still remember that sh., You know? And how are you gonna tell me to not ask why, as a writer, a curious kid, student, another human? I need to know what world she came from where kids/ppl, especially kids, kids who wrote the paper, never asked why. I smirked then asked her why 😁.
I thought this was gonna be a horrible tutorial about dyeing your hair w/crayons. I was like 😲ummm... That's wax, honey buns. Especially when you're just scrolling through the yt feed & the videos are running on their own 0:07. But nevermind.

My five year old starts kindergarten Monday. And now with this knowledge we will own all the other lame ass five year olds of the school 😤😂🙌🏻
Lol. 😂
I always hated crayons as a kid. Too waxy, too textured. I wish I'd known this trick. Now that your kid knows this, no need to send him to school. He/she already has all he/she needs to get ahead in life.
You're such a good mom
Blue Wren - To be fair Kindergarten also teaches you to share.
I like how her hair and her clothes match the room that she's in!

I spent 36 years with crayons in my elementary classroom so I had to check out your video. Sometimes you have to embrace the waxy-ness, though. There are a lot of very good resist techniques.......
Thank you for telling me this I will use those methods if I ever enter a coloring contest that strikes my interest cuz I love her

I have always hated the texture of wax crayons since I was kid and preferred to work with the sketch pens. Now I may go and try this method of coloring.
My lil brother used to do that with his finger nail when we were young and I couldn't stand his nails after they were so dirty.. but now he's a professional illustrator
Haaa... nailed it!!

Ebony Minto my older sister done that with her nails.Sometimes she would use toilet paper and the sound would drive me nuts lol

I used to like crushing my crayons into a waxy powder and then storing it all just loose in a pencil tin. Worst child in the world.

I hated coloring with crayons as a kid, especially on the really cheap coloring book paper that was already textured because it was so cheap! But I love the way you blended the colors and then removed the wax on the final product. Nice! I may try crayons again...soon.
Yesss and then when the color and the black outline of the picture mix ughh I hate that
Same.
Cheers from western Canada.
buddy, please get your iron levels tested, please. I am being very seriously.
