From Euro 72 to Euro 96, Germany played 13 international tournaments (7x Euro's and 6x Wc's)
In 9 of them germany reached the final (World cup 1974, 1982, 1986, 1990 and Euro 1972, 1976, 1980, 1992, 1996), winning 5 (Wc 1974, 1990, Euro 1972, 1980, 1996) and losing 4 (Wc 1982, 1986, Euro 1976, 1992)
Only in 4 tournaments between Euro 72 - Euro 96, Germany did not reach the final (Wc 1978, Euro 1984, 1988 and Wc 1994)
They also reached the final in the world cup of 1966 and the semi-final in 1970.

Soviet goalkeeper Rudakov is the main reason why USSR played in UEFA Euro final. He made some cool saves in quarterfinal against Yugoslavia and save penalty in semifinal against Hungary.

Great footage. Fascinating to watch Gerd Muller and his positional sixth sense. Can't recall anyone else with such instincts. Think this Germany team with the Beckenbauer \ Netzer fulcrum was superior to the team that won the world cup two years later.
no, wasn`t superior! Of those last 4 matches of Euro 1972 the quarter final first leg in London against England with the 3:1 away win for Germany and this final 3:0 against USSR were brilliant. Netzer on the peak of his German National team career. This peak unfortunately didn`t last longer than 1972 and 1973. In the 1974 WM manager Schön tested Netzer for the last 20 minutes against our East German brothers, but no impact. We lost and Schön went back to the former team with Overath. And the following four matches in WM 1974 we played and fought brillantly. The highest level against the strongest teams. In Germany since then there spread the myth, we only won 74 as the GDR prevented us from duels with Argentina, Brasil and Netherlands. But the fact is, our group won both comparative matches: Polen vs Brasil 1:0 and we the final 2:1. Argentina wasn`t what they would be years later and Brasil was in the era of `past Pele transformation` and inferior against Poland in the game about the third place. In the final itself we (Germany) had understood the newly invented Dutch offside trap and used some ingenius passing moves against it. So five times Hoeness or Hölzenbein started in the perfect moment against the offside trap, at least 1 meter onside and by this inverting the trap against the defense. Then running free and alone with the ball towards the Dutch goal. But the speed of these actions overexerted the linesmen, and they preferred in doubt to judge offside, as they thought if I stop it now possibly wrongly, the damage is unclear. But If I let Hoeness run and he scores, I´m blamed later in the TV if he was offside. Like Mr. Bachramov in 1966. This mistake also happened, when Gerd Müller scored the 3:1, wonderfully perfectly delivered by Grabowski. But - what a shame - the linesman`s arm went blindly up to the sky! I lately checked that mistake´s distance: 1,94 meters onside! Furthermore Germany were denied the clearest penalty of all times, a foul of Jansen against Hölzenbein. And although all these ref mistakes happened, Germany beat this tactically highest modern Dutch team. Our highest achievement of those years!
@@wendelinbottlander1466 great points and well made. To be honest its such a subjective thing through the lens of history opinions vary i guess. What isnt in doubt though to me is that in 74 WG beat two fantastically talented teams in Poland and the Netherlands. Great era of football.

Wolfgand Overath was a fantastic midfield (him and Grabowski and Holzeinbeim played very well together).
When you see 1972 team, it gives impression all is easy for them.
Difference between both teams is that the one of 1974 was more physical and based on
bayern' s players, more less in 1972.

Well, the Soviet team looked like they represented a lower division. Such enormous superiority over the second best team in Europe indicates an incredible quality of the Germany-72 team. Very impressive footage.

Помню этот матч - что сразу бросалось в глаза - запаздывание защитников и "беззубость"нападения. Первое проявлялось в постоянном численном превосходстве немцев в атаке, в конце концов, полузащита тоже оттянулась к воротам, и в центре немцы получили преимущество. Тогда было непривычно видеть, что наша команда медленнее соперников. А из-за этого не было атаки - бесконечные типо, "дальние удары", типо, "навесы", первые либо неточные, либо несильные, вторые - без адресата, куда кривая вывезет. За весь матч Майеру всего раз или два потрудиться всерьёз пришлось, всю работу за него полевые игроки сделали. Зато у нас Рудаков не в поте лица, даже, а, попросту, в мыле вкалывал. Единственный в нашей команде, к кому не было и нет вопросов - полуфинал с венграми был его бенефисом: там он "вытащил" всё, даже то, что не "тащится" и, втащил-таки нашу сборную в финал. Но против 10 немцев один Рудаков шансов не имел: "пушка" из штрафной, на добивание первым успевает Мюллер, Виммер выскочил один на один - Рудаков среагировал, но мяч от руки срикошетил в верхний угол, немцы выходят на вратаря вдвоём - Мюллер забивает дубль. А где наши защитники, где полузащита - не спрашивайте. Где-то они есть, они найдутся. Через секунду или две, после прорыва немцев к нашим воротам... Где были наши нападающие, ни тогда не видел, ни на видео определить не могу - венграм-то, тоже, хавбек Коньков забил, а потом за широченной спиной Рудакова до победы отсиделись. До сих пор не пойму, как Пономарёв сотоварищи у немцев выиграть собирался без боеспособного нападения, лучше бы ещё пару атакующих хавов в команду взял.
Рудаков вообще тащил команду в этом ЕВРО с самого начала. Достаточно вспомнить его игру в квалификационном матче Испания-СССР и его геройские спасения. Если бы не чумовые немцы, в особенности Мюллер, Нетцер, Бэккенбауэр. Рудаков мог бы получить ЗМ.
@@alexdubov6159 Совершенно с Вами согласен! С ЗМ в тот год вообще чехарда получилась - я по сей день считаю, что лучшим был Нетцер. И да, думаю, в том, что наши в финальную часть ЧЕ попали - Рудаков больше, чем кто-либо ещё "виновен", а ведь, не затащи он сборную в финал - и немцам не проиграли бы...)))
@user-hd3gm3sc2e Проиграть немцам, да еще таким, не позорно. У наших был несбалансированный состав, тот же Колотов и Онищенко только начинали, Банишевский был уже был на сходе. Защита было хорошая. Конькова по тому времени трудно было назвать опорником. Не помню Трошкина в той игре. Полузащита была слабая. Мяч не держался. Креатива не было. Порылся в памяти, пытаясь вспомнить, какой вратарь смог дотащить команду до финала, и оказалось это сделал Кан, который дотащил Германию до финала на ЧМ2002.
Согласен с вами, что Нетцер был лучшим. Это на самом деле был его турнир. Насколько я помню его конкурентом был Оверат... У Нетцера характер был не простой, наверно поэтому Шен предпочитал Оверата. В общем, у Шена былo прекрасное поколение, начиная с ЧМ 1966.

Мы, маладёж (господи, как давно это было...), подкалывали, вспоминали "мюнхенскую битву" перед ЧЕ, где немцы нас "тигром" вдоль и поперек переехали... А в составе явно Мунтяна не хватало. Бегать Колотов и Трошкин умели, забивать у Конькова и Колотова получалось, а разыгрывающего не было. У немцев-то, тоже, второго "заряжающего" уровня Нетцера не было. Когда у Гюнтера шла игра, ему, пожалуй, и в мире тогда равных не было.
Судя по составу, у СССР та ещё сборная солянка была. 😂😂😂 Про оборону вообще промолчим, из жалости.😂😂 А что там с Мунтяном? Не вписывался в «игровое видение» тренера? Сломал бы тонкий рисунок игры сборной.😂😂😂😂

В финале играли две лучшие европейские команды. Но, золотая команда немцев, самая сильная за всю историю была непобедима и это было начало к чемпионскому титулу в 1974 году. В команде все звезды. Таких как Беккенбауэр, Мюллер ... не было в последующем. Но, игра советского вратаря против этой команды приятно поражает. Это был легендарный Евгений Васильевич Рудаков!

Me lembro de uma seleção soviética, em 1976, vir jogar aqui, pouco antes das Olimpíadas no Canadá. Rudakov e Onishenko estavam nela. Havia um jogador, de nome meio comprido, Khingagashiville. Um outro, da Armênia, Lev Oganesian, jogava no Ararat. Mas quem foi aos Jogos foi Astapovsky, li que foi eleito o Jogador Hockey (talvez por Lev Yashin ter sido goleiro de um time de hockey sobre o gelo antes de ir para o futebol), naquela temporada. A velha e ótima escola de goleiros soviética!. Com o fim dela, dá para contar nos dedos, quantos jogadores se pôde contar para montar uma seleção russa. Muito pouco ao que fora antes de 1991, se comparar, nem para uma mídia comprada ou vendida, que teima em endeusar uns e outros (não é a banda de rock), para vender camisa, comerciais,deu-seformar uma seleção e 1/4. Nem meia seleção.. Não é a de calçar.

In the 50ies and 60ies they were hardly to beat. They won the euro in 1960 and were second in 64, losing to spain 1:2 in Madrid. In 68 they lost on coin toss against the coming european champion italy in the semis. So among normal circumstances, no loss by coin toss, not playing in front of 100tsd spanish fans they would have won three in a row. In the 70ies they got weak. No participation in 78 world cup. But in the 80ies they were also nearly unbeatable. They missed the semi in world cup 82 with a draw against poland, were among best 4 teams in 86 being betrayed by belgian offside goals. In euro 88 they unluckily lost against the dutch, missing a penalty.
So final 72 was in fact one of their worst games.
