    Ground rift! Haze of rage!

    Ive long thought that Veyran is just on the cusp of being an archetypal deck in CEDH, but I think the issue is that simply better things exist that are either faster, can have more stax, or both. Ive also see at high powered (not cedh) play that Veyran hates having its set-up permanents removed, so it can struggle with the balancing act of being greedy/fast, defensive, and board controlling. I wonder how this list would fare with the slightly slower, but more interactive approach. Nice video!

    You have another video about spellslinger and veyran.
    In the video You mentioned cantrip into tutor, tutor for lightning bolt and Insult//injury. Cantrip, Cast insult//injury lightning bolt making 5 lightning bolts for 48 damage.
    What would the same combo look like if veyran was out?

    • @commanderbydaenen
      @commanderbydaenen  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Cantrip would happen one time. Tutor would then have four copies, letting you search for 4 cards (2x2). The next cantrip would have 6 copies (3x2), then Insult would have 8 copies (4x2), finally Lightning Bolt would have 10 copies (5x2), each one dealing 768 damage (2^8 = 256x3 =768).

      Thank you, I also discovered “Quicken” & “Borne upon a Wind” in place of “Serum Visions” and/or “Preordain”. You give up a little card selection in place of being able to cast 1 or more sorceries at flash speed giving you the option to cast insult on someone else’s turn if needed/able.

    I have a Veyran Deck since a half year that I build but everytime I had tried it , it doesn’t worked well- but it wasn’t cedh, only casual. I think I have to upgrade it to cedh or maybe I have to try to add some cards from this new „quick draw“ - spellsinger deck from the „outlaws of thunder“.
    By the way… what’s your thought.. is Stella better then Veyran?

    • @commanderbydaenen
      @commanderbydaenen  Před 3 měsíci

      I don't think Stella is better than Veryan, just different. A Commander like Veryan needs tons of cantrips, so you can constantly keep your hand full. My goal in life is to have Balmor, Veyran, and Adeliz on board at the same time.

    What’s your opinion on cards like Shadow rift, and leap? Giving. Veyran evasion? Too niche; Since you need a creature out for them to work?

      @@fannyflutters2387 Yeah, it's weird. There's no pips on them, so you're good to run them in any commander deck. Obviously, there's very little point to run the Orzhov one in an Izzet deck, but some people are weird and like shuffling their deck.

    This is a hard sell for me as a cedh commander because it isn't card advantage in the command zone. No worries, it still looks nasty.
    Underworld breach is in there, breach lines would be my go to win con: brain freeze and lions eye diamond, birgie and Burning inquiry, grinding station and mana crypt etc.
    There are plenty of tutors in red and blue to get your set-up going, hardest part would be getting to the breach. Muddle the mixture might be a fetch option for it.
    Something like ral and fury storm is also nuts. Or ral with isochron scepter/reversal online since you are casting a copy of the exiled card.
    Good times, keep the ideas coming.

      how good is IsoRev in practice? I always hesitate putting it in decks because it feels like the two pieces are so independent from the rest of the deck usually.

      It works. There are too many variables to say it is consistent. Its not common for me to pull it off, dockside being more consistent, but it is my backup plan in a few builds.

      it dosnt have to be card advantage in comandzone buddy vay ran copy spell ( via enchantments /counter spells ) is hard to compeet with lol i built mine long ago and it was unbeatable i tore it apart for lack of fun and doing multiplication on a 10 cmc fireball copied 15 times is harsh math lol

  • @joefuller3886
    @joefuller3886 Před 11 měsíci

    no offence but both iterations of this vayran seem amusingly weak, theyw ay i went with vayran was copy ebchantment type effects all or mostly copying swarm intelligence , becuse if you counterspell with a single counterspell the opponent may cou ter youre spell, so my reasoning at the time i built mine was why make 1 counter spell when you can make an insane amoubt each one targets the same target making it super hard, and since the copys go off b4 the actual one you cast the opponent would need alot more spells to habdle vayran the build is basicly multiple spell copy burn/ counterspell

      How is that better than the deck list he provided? Your deck is based around keep veyran alive? Who cares if veyran goes to the command zone. There's so many infinite mana combos in the game once your set up you can just storm off anyways. Plus who is going to have 2 counters in their hand to counter your one counter + copy? Pretty situational.
