- đŠ About This Video:
I started experiencing side effects from my recent radiotherapy sessions and it led me to the conclusion that radiotherapy f******g sucks! So far the symptoms I've experienced are: breathless, coughing, soreness, back ache, and headaches. Hopefully, things will get better soon.
â¶ïž About This Channel:
I've always been a storyteller. I've written hundreds of short stories and multiple books, but I always sensed I was meant to share a different story.
MY story.
I wasn't sure what that was until I was diagnosed with STAGE 4 Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma (a SUPER rare type of cancer for which there is NO CURE).
I decided to embrace my motto of Living Out Loud and started sharing my journey in vlog format.
This is my story. Real. Raw. Unfiltered.

I am so sorry you have to go thru this. Cancer is evil! My life with cancer was vomiting and diarrhea all day long. Than blood clot in my arm at that time I wanted to just quit. But we donât have much choice do we ? Hang in there my friend. So many of us have been there. Seems many more are developing cancer. Makes me wonder why? Love Kathy Erie Pa
I'm sorry you had to go through that. I definitely don't miss the vomiting. That was really intense.
How are you doing now?
I am praying for God to give you strength and that the coughing will ease off enough for you to breath easier . Rest as much as you need to
đș đŠ đ
Thanks đ. I appreciate it. I'm actually feeling a little better today.
UK: the Tube
NYC: the train
I get how annoying the cough can be. Collapsed once, here Hang in there, be good to yourself t and I know you know, but youâre not alone and weâre all here for you. â€
I know. I'm very lucky to be surrounded by so many amazing people. Thanks for the reminder đ.
Have you asked about cough pearls? Theyâre fantastic. I was the same as you with not taking medications for my whole life. I had a doctor tell me early in my cancer journey that I should seriously consider giving up my medicine aversion and realize that I have a deadly disease and no medicine is going to be worse than cancer. Even addictive drugs can be conquered on the back end if Iâm lucky enough to have a back end. Donât try to tough it out, be comfortable and heal!
Thanks for the suggestion. If you don't mind me asking, what exactly are cough pearls? At they the same as cough lozenges (e.g. Halls)?
@@LivingOutLoud-LWS4C benzonatate. they are prescribed. They work really well.
I'm sorry to hear about all these awful side effects. We're all out here praying for you, and sending much positive energy. âïžđâšđđđ
Thanks đ. I really appreciate your prayers and positive energy.
Bless your heart †Iâm praying for you that you feel much better as soon as possible. Iâm sending you so much love and positive, healing prayers always xxxâ€đ
Stay strong and keep fighting đȘâ€ïž
I was concerned with side effects of your short term radiation. Took care of a dear friend of mine who had stage 4 cancer. He had long term radiation. Lost his taste buds, had horrible burns on his skin, couldnât swallow to eat, couldnât tolerate any foods or liquids. They seemed like freezing ice or boiling water. He lost 1/2 of his body weight and had been really buff before. No muscle tone at all. Later he did use ice cubes to cut back on the coughing.
Suggestions: Take an Uber to the hospital from subway and back.
Buy an insulated drinking tumbler with a top. Fill with ice when you go out. It will not melt for 24 hours or more.
Sorry youâve had challenges. Hope youâre feeling better soon. Most importantly the tumor on your lung shrinks!
Eat ice cream if allowed to add to your weight or puddings, mashed potatoes.
P.S. took about a year but my friend lived đ„ł He had a great caretaker, LOL!
He certainly did , Bless you x
Thanks for sharing your friend's story. Hearing such stories always reminds me that no matter how bad things are, they could always be worse and that we should be grateful for what we do have. I'm glad your friend got better and that he had such a good caregiver.
I'm so sorry your treatment is tough ! †Hang in there. You're strong.
Thanks đ. I'm actually feeling a little better today.
May tomorrow be a better day and the day after even better.â€
Thanks đ. I'm feeling a little better today, so hopefully it's the start of the end.
Sorry to hear about the side effects.đą
Thanks, but like all things in life, it's only temporary.
Man, I think it's absolutely crazy how your wife is still unable to be there with you, with everything that you're going through that she is still not allowed to be there physically. Thinking of you, and I really hope you start feeling better soon â€ïž
Yes, I would think they would show compassion in cases like this.
I agree. Unfortunately, immigration doesn't care about small things like stage 4 cancer. It's just how the system works.
@@Peter-pe6pp Unfortunately, immigration is the only place I haven't been met with compassion. They don't care what the situation is. All they care about are the laws.
Good luck with your appointments today. That stinks having to walk that incline. Like you said take a lot of breaks. đđ»â€ïžđșđž
Thanks đ. I'm happy to report that I survived. And I'm actually feeling a little better today.
Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly. Coughing can be quite tiring and too much can lead to throwing up. I have experienced this for short spells like durinv flu or covid. But no comparison of course. Hope you feel better soon.â€
Yeah. We don't really just his exhausting coughing can be. Luckily, I seem to be feeling better this morning.
@@LivingOutLoud-LWS4C glad to hear that.
So sorry for you! Hope the side effects will get better soon!
Thanks đ. I'm feeling a little better than day. I hope that means I'm on the mend.
Sending prayers and healing to you hope you feel better soon life is crap sometimes hang in there đâ€
Thanks đ. I'm feeling better today. Hopefully that means I'm on the mend.
Shame I feel for you. Hope all will go with your Dr's appointments today Xx
Thanks đ. I survived yesterday and today I'm feeling better. Hopefully it keeps improving in the next few days.
im glad you took the time to rest. this should be a new strategy for you. radical rest when you're not feeling great. important not to push through the symptoms.
Radical rest. I like it!
Iâm just now in from work and Iâm so hopeful that those trips to the hospital are over with and you are back home resting comfortable. That hill climbing you spoke of got me a little worried.
Thanks đ. I survived yesterday and I'm feeling a little better today. Hopefully it will keep getting better as the days go by.
I'm so sorry đ I know how bad you are feeling. I'm with you. All of us here support you đ
Thanks đ. I really appreciate it.

In the UK subway/ metro is called the Tube. In Hong Kong MTR.
Must be tough having to go for appointments feeling like thisđą
Hope the symptoms lessen soon.
Thanks đ. I'm actually feeling better today.
Aw so sorry to hear youâre struggling
Thanks đ. It will get better soon (I'm already feeling a little better today).
The LIVE was great, but I was thinking I hope it didn't exhaust you too much as we were all throwing lots of questions for you to answer đą Please take it easy, and take as much rest as you need, those side affects sound horrible.. I'll keep praying for you, you're a lovely person, just hope in time it gets easier..lots of love & hugs for you and your darling wife..â€đ«đ
Thanks đ. The live was definitely more intense than I was hoping, but I really enjoyed it. It might not have been the smartest thing to do given the situation, but I don't regret it. Next one will be better.
Iâm so sorry you are feeling poorly , I swear the â cureâ is worse than the bloody cancer at times . It will all be worth it when you kick this cancer into touch . Sorry I missed the live show , had to be somewhere, but will watch as soon as I get the chance . Meanwhile rest and recuperate my friend , thinking of you as always đ
Thanks đ. I'm actually feeling a little better today, so hopefully that means I've reached the start of the end.
Dear friend, I am sorry I missed your live but I definitely donât feel good during these days.
Iâm taking a new medicine for cholesterol and I think these are side effects of it đą
As you always say: it sucks đđ
I hope you could feel better, I am very concerned about you.
But you always smile, you have a light inside of yourself.
This will help you a lot.
Hope to hear from you soon đ€â„ïž
I'm sorry to hear you're going through a rough time. That sucks (sorry, I couldn't resist). I'm sure you'll feel better soon. Sending you positive healing energy.
â@@tigerspiritjourneyThanks for the suggestion đ.
You are so brave, l feel so guilty, complaining about anything now. Life is so unfair, â€
Hahaha. I'll take that as a compliment, but I would urge you to reconsider. One person's challenges should not diminish that of others. We all go through hard times and we should not let what others are going through diminish what we're experiencing.
Both my parents went through radiotherapy.... so in some way I get hownit sucks... I love your sense of humour, by the way. I wish I had half of it. I send you Barcelonian hugs!
I'm sorry to hear about your parents. Did the radiotherapy work for them?
@@LivingOutLoud-LWS4C Well, my mom had lung cancer and even though it initially worked along with chemo, the cancer cells traveled and she ended up with meningeal metastasis, so she didn't make it. With my dad was different, he had tonsil cancer and received chemo and radio at first, it worked for a while and then came back and had surgery to remove it. Now he is living his life to the full and send me photos of every single meal he has.... Oh my Gosh
@@officially-unemployed I'm sorry to hear about your mother. But in glad things went well for your father and that he is enjoying life. That is amazing!
Nothing is as bad as chemo, trust me!
Yeah. Chemo is definitely the most intense option out there. I'm lucky it wasn't an option for me.
Blessings; healing and strength for you. take rest.
Thanks đ. Much appreciated.
Most importantly I hope the treatment works. You are going through a lot. Pls rest as needed. Sometimes that is what the body needs . No more appointments this week I hope.
Thanks đ. I also hope it works, lol. Only two more appointments this week (one with my neurologist and one with my acupuncturist).
I hope you feel better soon. I wish there was something else you could do beside radiation therapy. Maybe chewing gum can help with the coughing
Thanks đ. The main strategy is immunotherapy. Radiotherapy is just a temporary solution for a few very specific tumours.
Oh dear, I hear it can be pretty bad for some. Sucks that you have to run around for appointments too. Did those go well?
Wishing it will improve significantly and you wake up to a good Tuesday.â€
Thanks đ. Yesterday was definitely an intense day, but I'm feeling a little better today, so I'm hoping that means I'm on the mend.
Yes, the appointments went well. Thanks for asking.
@@LivingOutLoud-LWS4C happy to hear you are all good
I wouldn't say "all good", but definitely "better". Hopefully it will be "all good" soon.
I was curious, a spoonful of 9:05 honey lemon ginger tea. Really can help.
Yes. Unfortunately, I didn't have all the necessary ingredients and going out to get them was definitely not an option given the state of was in. Luckily, things seem to be a little better this morning.
â€đ€âïž they lie about side effects đ
I don't think it was a lie. I think it's just hard to determine what will or won't happen because each situation is so different.
I would consider applying for Para transpo in your city. My mom has it. The city pays for her cab due to her having chronic illnesses and mobility problems. Just need a doctor's note.
Thanks for the suggestion đ. I'll look into it
Better by now I hopeđą
Today is definitely better, but not back to normal yet. But things seem to be moving in the right direction.
Any treatment for cancer sucks đhang in there this shall past..
You're right. I should use this as a reminder that it could be worse (from what I keep hearing, chemotherapy is one of the worst, so in comparison radiotherapy isn't so bad).
Please check to see if your hospital can offer assistance getting up that hill. I have seen hospitals offer this when I was a caregiver.
I doubt it. It's an old hospital that seems quite disorganized. I got stuck waiting for a malfunctioning elevator for 10 minutes and ended up having to use the stairs đ€Ł.
Sorry to hear of these awful side effects. Hopefully the radiation is effective on shrinking the tumors.
Do you live alone? I hope you have someone there when you are feeling sick. Take care and hope you can rest.
Thanks đ. I also hope this gets rid of the symptoms. Yes, I live alone (still waiting for things to open up on the immigration front so my wife can join me).
I hope you have some family close to you? I canât hardly stand the thought of you alone. I know you have thought of every option but seems like there would be a âmedical emergency â type deal for her to come over!
Do you have friends and family directly near you?? Can you temporarily stay with someone until side effects calm a little. I hope someone is coming by to leave things if you need them etc...
I have friends nearby, but I avoid human contact as much as possible as any form of talking seems to trigger my coughing and make it worse. So I've been isolating myself for the last few days and focusing on recovery.
u can say metro Americans will understand. uk they say tube. (source: lived in London a bit, israeli living in the us now) đ
Hahaha. Thanks. I usually say subway in English and metro in French, but sometimes it slips out in English too, lol.
I am interested in everything you say.
Thanks đ. That's very kind of you to say.
So sad your wife isnât with you itâs actually cruel đ„
Thanks đ. Life will definitely be much better when we're together. But it's all part of the process.
Do you take aspirin? Can you take aspirin? Cancer patients are at risk of blood clots and aspirin has some benefits for cancer. It was also discussed to influence metastasis. Take 2 aspirin if the doctor agrees and see if your headache gets better. Think about your blood flow
I'm not sure about Aspirin, but I know I can take Tylenol. I usually avoid drugs as much as possible, so I only take pain pills when absolutely necessary. I took some yesterday and the day before, but I'm hoping that won't be necessary today.
â@@LivingOutLoud-LWS4C I think it's good that you rarely take painkillers.
I would maybe try natural blood thinners, like turmeric, Ginger,, cinnamon or basil. This stimulates blood circulation. Is important for cancer patients
@@riekaakier1526 Thanks for the suggestions. Why is blood circulation important for cancer patients?
@@LivingOutLoud-LWS4C Cancers produce substances that stimulate blood clotting. There are estimates that around 20 percent of all thromboses are related to cancer. Check it out on official sites. So my suggestion was aspirin, but the doctor has to approve that. Best regards

Unfortunately, no. Immigration doesn't care about your situation. All they care about are the laws. But eventually things will unblock. It's only a matter of time.
