  • Today we bring out some of the Winchester Supreme 12 pellet 00 buckshot loads and pattern test them at 40 yards through the Remington 11-87 and its stock .688 full choke. How will they perform? Stick around and find out!
You can send stuff to the channel! (please no handloaded or reloaded ammo, factory ammo is fine *DO NOT SEND AMMO VIA USPS! USE UPS OR FEDEX ONLY*)

Great video... great setup... There was an article written in Shooting Times Magazine probably 20 years ago... A deer hunting club hunted deer exclusively with 00 buck for a whole season... They found that buckshot shells with shot cups worked best... Low recoil law enforcement 00 buckshot through a full choke worked very well out to 60 yards... I personally found that Winchester Ranger law enforcement 00 buckshot and Remington managed recoil 00 buckshot worked great out of a factory full choke... Buckshot is interesting stuff... Sometimes unpredictable...

I guess I'll have to look for some of the law enforcement loads or low recoil loads to test out as well then

Good job- that patterned way better than I thought it would- with my shotguns which are all 40 years old and older the patterns are solid out to 25 yards

This would make a fine deer set up

👍 I really like the template set up. Puts everything in perspective

Awesome test! Thank you for your hard work! Also FYI, Leupold will warrant that-scope forever, no matter what you shoot it on. Also, the rimfire scopes have the parallax factory set to 70 yards (I think) versus a center fire scope that is set for 140 yards, on scopes with fixed parallax. I love the over lays! 1 observation. With buckshot, especially since you are using a scope, do not center the template overlay for best results. Have everything set for center/aim point even if it shows less pellets where you would like them. Perhaps put a small orange stick on dot for the aim point. This will best reflect field use.

Yeah, that was kind of another reason I put this scope on it. I have no plans on taking it past 100 yards even with slugs, so most of my shooting will be at or around 50 yards, which is perfect. I like your idea there, I can definitely add some sort of small aim point for sure

Awesome video!! i was really curious about a 00 buck shot, i picked up a mossberg 835 about a month ago and been wating all of your videos!! could you possibly shoot these load through the 835?? and would this be a good alternative for the 835 in turn for the slug since it cant shoot slug? in your opinion?

    • @matttyreeoutdoors

I definitely have it on the list to shoot these rounds and others in the 835 very soon, so the videos are on the way! As for a slug gun, I have mostly used a Mossberg 500 with a fully rifled barrel on it for my slug hunts. It shoots great with rifled slugs, but it's lights out with Remington sabot slugs at 100 yards. I will probably test some stuff through it on the channel at some point. I do have plans on testing some rifled chokes in a smooth bore with slugs really soon as well. But I would say either a 500 or 870 are always solid options, and you could get slug barrels for them as well if you felt the need
