In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens czcams.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
I watched this video and this series in its entirety prior to purchasing over 10k in Lowrance products and I am happy with my purchases and lowrance experience. I've been a customer for over 20 years and love my experience overall.

I just switched to HDS 12" Lives replacing my HDS Gen 2 9" touch screens. I've been using Lowrance since 1973 and have always had excellent service which is one of the reasons I stayed with Lowrance. I've been watching a lot of videos on "how to" use the HDS live units and these are the best I've seen. Thank you for your continued support.

Great instruction video, several questions I had were answered. One thing, I think the transducer should be parallel to the water surface, not the lake bottom. Just a clarification, it would be impossible to be parallel to the bottom.

I have wanted this for my bass boat since it came out. The install for these is almost as much as the HDS 12. Now Bass Pro Shops is offering free installation and I am now fixing to pull the trigger on this bad boy. I am just wondering if I should mount in front or back to work with my motor monitoring. Just a great video.
Good information. If some of your examples were built into the unit we could solve many of these on the fly.

Can you hook the HDS live up to the smart raft analog gauge interface?
Excellent Video!! I`m very grateful. I have several Lakes that I marked with waypoints. When I made them I put specific information about each one so that I would know what was there. How do I retrieve that info while I`m traveling to it on the lake? When I highlight the waypoint by touching it, then I select the drop down menu it doesn`t give me an option to select info . I have to touch the way point again and go to menu and select waypoint then Edit just to see my info about that Way Point. Is there something did wrong in my waypoint set up?
HDMI from iPhone XR worked (past-tence) on one LIVE 12 but not the other. Neither a soft- or hard-reset helped. Now it does not works on either. Just a blank screen. Purchased new cables to no avail. Charges phone but no video mirroring. Turned cycle off to keep on HDMI, too.
I don't get to fish a lot each summer but I like the hds system. I don't really want to subscribe to navionics each year. Does the unit stop working if I don't subscribe beyond the 1st year?
i struggle to see the depth readout on the top left during sidescan. it is a white number with dark center... Can it be made larger?

I have a Lowrance Hook 7ts. The depth finder doesn’t provide depth reading. Everything else seems to work fine. What am I doing wrong? I assume I’ve done something wrong in the settings, but can’t figure out what. Help!
Good afternoon... Just purchased an HDS Live 9 (BPS having sale and I got in on it) which came with AI 3 in 1 transducer and this will be which replacing my "still working great" 1996 X70A at the console. I may get another HDS Live 9 at the front and then get the Ghost 360, hopefully in the near future, we'll see. Nonetheless, this is a great video 'start' for me, appreciate the very detailed intro.

Why does the new Live units not work with the Motorguide Xi5 trolling motor? I have been told there is a software issue, pretty frustrated at this point.

Thanks for the info. I will be installing an HDS 12 unit into a 2022 Lund Crossover. You said to make sure the three in one transducer is parallel with the lake bottom. How do we know what that will look like when I am installing the ducer in my garage? I am thinking to put the transducer at a slight angle and make sure to mount it between the strakes where there should be no air bubbles. Is this correct? Thank you so much

You will need to create an account with C-Map Genesis, and upload the sonar logs that you will have recorded with your unit. www.genesismaps.com/

On a dual HDS live 12 setup on in console and one in bow should they both be hooked up to the blue connection or just one?
The blue connector is for Channel 1 transducer. You would network through the yellow port with Ethernet. You can share a transducer on 2 HDS Lives by connecting them together with Ethernet.
What size wire should we run for a HDS 7 straight to the battery about 10’

You cannot use a HDS Live with the transducer and power cable you have.
Can I set most of this up without being on the water? Or does the transducer have to be submerged in the water
You can set it up out of the water. Just remember to Stop sonar if your transducer is connected to the unit.
Mobile phone will not stay linked with HDS7.
Is it OK to have separate power feeds from differant batteries to your unit if you are hooking up eithernet and or nema 2000 networking ?
Yes indeed, it is recommended to use different power sources for you NMEA2000 network and units, trolling motor, etc.

You can use two HDS Live units with only one transducer.
They will need to be connected via ethernet
would be great if Lowrance told me why my new HDS 12 Live keep cracking the rear cover? sent it back 2 and they just keep changing the back cover? wonder what going to happen when the warranty runs out?
any one with a dash mounted unit check your back covers, cracks forming from the screw locations in both instances.

Iam sure its not a common thing but I have had 2 units do this and from the same spots. Even asked if i shuold change or upgreade to a different unit as it is inconviniant having to wait 4 weeks to get a replacement every time . . .
Why the flat bottom of the water body becomes in DI a bottom with sharp hills and the shape of the fish, the size is incomprehensible??? it happens because the frequency of signals is less than it should be for qualitative representation (eg Gen1, Gen2) the problem is with new sensor AI 3in1 and Lowrance Live new algorithms ...

I am replacing a 7” with a 9”. The 9” did not come with a gps antenna. Is gps built in?
All our most recent units have GPS antenna built-in.

Hi Larry, were you able to fix this issue? Please make sure both your units are running the latest software update. Also save all your personal data onto a micro SD card and perform a hard reset, after having upgraded the units. If you're still having issues, please sens us a message via FB with your unit's serial number and we'll help you from there.
Why couldn’t you put a USB port on it our a speaker/mic on it to be able to take calls on could have made the 7 and 9 just taller units

So the Lowrance HDS Live is Not Live without the LiveSight Transducer?
Makes no sense to call it Live if there’s nothing Live about it without Spending another $1,500 for the LiveSight Transducer.
Free hat heck it be nice for a weekend fisher man like myself to be able to afford these units and a the ghost. Man have to get a loan to afford this stuff.

Somehow for most of my life I have managed to catch fish without Two or three 12 inch TV screens on my boat.....
1. CONTRAST split between Intensity & Contrast which improves darkness of shadows.
2. +/- CONTRAST via Quick-Key for contrast control in either Auto or Manual modes for quickness & ease of use.
+/- INTENSITY via Quick-Key for intensity control in either Auto or Manual modes for quickness & ease of use. ( see #1 above).
3. +/- DEPTH via Quick-Key for depth control in Manual mode for quickness & ease of use..
4. Lowrance StructureScan SI/DI Auto/Manual Scroll-Speed control to optionally decrease compression.
Scroll-Speed should adjust all to same speed , 2d, DI & SI.
+/- Scroll-Speed via Quick-Keys for quickness & ease of use.
5. Waypoint sorting currently allowed for Name, Nearest, Symbol. Make change to allow sorting by Time(creation-time).
6. Storage should display SD-card Volume-Name if so named instead of TOP or BOTTOM.
Show “NAVIONICS”, not “Memory Card - Top”. Show “C-MAP”, not “Memory Card - BOTTOM”.
7. Structurescan(SI) should allow “Water-Column” to be set to ON or OFF. Important to Dual-console HDS users who set unit’s Structurescan in Left-only & Right-only modes.

Hey Lowrance, I have a better idea. WHY DONT YOU MAKE A SCREEN COVER THAT WONT BLOW OFF DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD? How frogging hard could it be? If your engineers can’t figure that out, FIRE THEM. $1000- $4500 screen and you can’t provide a screen cover that won’t blow off is pretty lame excuse.

The AI 3in1 needs to be plugged onto CH2, the black port. CH1, blue port, can be used for the TM165HW
