In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

I bought Lowrance HDS 9 Live, i have transducer all 3 in 1 and also 3d transducer. What are the settings preset in Lowrance HDS 9 when both of them are functioning?

Hi I recently purchased the ghost trolling motor with the standard 2 in 1 and a 12" live with the 3 in 1. I can select my either my trolling motor or 3 in 1 as a source for my sonar but can't seem to select my trolling motor down scan. I don't have a nema system but have my trolling motor plugged into the ch 1 port. What am I doing wrong? I love all of your videos. You are a great speaker and teacher. THANKS!
Do you guys have any solutions if a 3 in 1 transducer will not auto recognise?
I have a HDS7 live and a 3 in 1 transducer and it recognises the transducer less than half of the time.
What transducer should I select when it’s not recognised because AI 3 in 1 is not an option to select.

Hi. I want to make an inquiry. I have a Lowrance HDS 9 Carbon and the screen gets very hot, even the touch screen sometimes stops working at times ... is it normal?
What's up that a three in one transducer dosent show up on the selections list? It's pinging, and is working but I've got it set on reg ssd becuase there was not a 3 in 1 "to choose from. I did the #20 update but didn't change anything.
I cannot seem to get very good sideview imaging, it always looks like it's rolling sand below with nothing else. Occasionally I'll see what looks like shadows from standing piling's.

I turned off CH1 and turned CH2 on for my 3-1 and it said I had no source. I plugged it in the black port . I am not getting a sonar or depth reading. What's my next step? HDS 9 Live I bought a month ago and installed this past week.

Great video, basic but I learned a lot, I was looking for engine interface, I have the NMEA 2000 already setup and can see my Evinrude, but can only see 4 gauges, no trim, and no gas, I would like to monitor how much gas I'm burning. Do you have any videos on that subject? Thanks

I'm not a techie and need to keep things simple. I'm upgrading to HDS9s on bow and console. I've been an avid bass for forty years + -- but don't fish tournaments and just enjoy fishing. While I will probably have a 3-1 transducer on the trolling motor and transom (because they came with my purchase) I still want to keep it simple. At some point I hope to get comfortable with side scan, but it's not a big deal for now. Can I just keep both units separate and occasionally use the ethernet connection when needed? And what is the main benefit of the networking if a guy just wants to look for fish and structure. Baby steps.....Thanks, and thanks for the excellent video.....Frank

So I’m new to Lowrance.. I have Garmin units on my Jonboat but just bought a Triton with dual HDS screens. On my Garmins it’s important to not have networked screens running on the same frequency. Thanks for the video! I just bought the Lowrance HDS Live unit with the 3-in-1 transducer, I also got the Minn Kota Ulterra US2. which transducer would you recommend to use? can both be connected the same time? any advantage of the US2 vs the Lowrance one?
you can use both, but the Lowrance 3n1 is going to give you a much better picture than the us2.

@@troygoesfishing412 I had the same issue on this unit and it was a couple of things. The bracket that holds the transducer was installed incorrectly and the the transducer also needs to be just slightly below the bottom of the boat, like a quarter of an inch, and that fixed it. Works perfectly now.
I am having an issue with my depth as well. My unit and transducer worked great for about a year and one day the depth just stopped working. Depth come and goes and I’m not sure why. I’ve called support and gone through the hard reset process and still having the issue. Anyone experiencing the same issue.

you will want to add a shoot thru the hull 2d transducer (fiberglass boats) or a 2d skimmer for aluminum.

That is not the original bracket for the HDS 9 live right? The standard is more chunky and I’m not an fan.... were can I buy the one in the video?
I’d second that, never could figure out why they put that plastic bracket on this unit, although it is probably stronger than the metal one, but make the unit look cheep IMHO
@@mobasser I don't like the bracket either, my bracket rattles/chatters and its not loose.

I just bought the livesight transducer b/c they have a $300 rebate, but I worry they're going to put out something new that's on par with Livescope and that's what's driving the rebate. I called Lowrance customer service and asked and they said they weren't aware of anything...
Daniel Bates I say they couldn’t tell you if they did know about something, lowrance would have a release date for information. How do like the livesight so far?

Check out our edit overlay video. Instead of adding an overlay you will select "configure" and can change the size of the font.
The problem I have with Lowrance is many of the basic features are near impossible to find. A friends default settings on his unit (right out of the box) don't even look like my default settings and we have the exact same unit. I can't even find where the frequency setting even is on his unit and I've looked basically everywhere for it.
I kayak fish and the most important things I want in my unit are these:
1. I hate the way the basic sonar screen looks. The depth numbers are way too small and the color is way too dark.
2. Same goes for the temperature setting.
3. I still can't find where the speed icon is or how to place that on the sonar screen.
4. I would want to configure down, side scan etc all the same
5. I still can't find the color palette tabs either
These are all very basic things that should precede everything you discussed. I've never had ANY of these issues with a Hummingbird and only bought a Lowrance unit because they fit in my Hobie kayak. I love my Hobie's but their arrangement with Lowrance was a huge mistake in my mind. I've had nothing but problems with both of the units I've purchased from them. The technology may be great but they are absolutely clueless as to how to simplify many (not all) of the basic operations of the unit. I feel like they're speaking Chinese to me when I'm speaking English.
I'm not knocking your video- it is helpful. I'm knocking Lowrance because unit after unit, year after year they still can't simplify their units basic operations despite their claims.
You american are crazy or those fishfinder are not.able to use them on 800 feet deep water for fishing.

Why do you use such a complex sofesticat unit that cost above 1500 dolar on cayac on shallow water ?
