I must have watched this video dozens of times. It was when my wife saw a tear come to my eye that she finally said, just get one already. So I went and sought out a 2017 GT-R. I got lucky and found one with only 5200 miles on it. I have had it now for just under 2 years and love it. Thanks Chris Harris and Top Gear for the beautiful footage of this amazing car.
Nice 👍
Congratulations 🎊. Just need to convince my young wife that I would like to buy a Nissan GT-R.
U had to ask your wife to buy a car?🤣🤣 U absolute loser simp biatch
Chris Harris is seriously the only reason I watch these videos. Don't mess this up Top Gear. He is probably your biggest asset to top gear since the original trio
Yea, but he's all business, and he knows his business very well. However, the TG Trio mixed it up with humor and all the things Chris is giving us too. It's called entertainment.
vqpwr I quite agree with your comment very much..... 🤙🏼
vqpwr i mean I didnt even know they kept the show going without them
I concur.
Chris Harris is a legend! Best pure driver reviewer of them all......are you not entertained???!
The drifting slowmo with all the leaves is simply epic.
I know, right? So beautiful
@@CmdrTobs Go drive your Honda civic buddy.

You're clueless and have never driver one......!
The slow motion shots are incredible!
Chris Harris is the only one to film the R35 at and over the limit and explain/show what its trying to do in that situation, am I wrong? Films like these are why he's the best.
Joe Kerry Agreed. Only time I have heard the car reviewed like this. Usually it's MASSIVE ACCELERATION, OUTSTANDING GRIP, HEAVY, Too electronic, blah blah blah. Feel like I've been hearing the same review for 8 years. Chris Harris just gave us a glimpse of the cars soul.
Joe Kerry down to earth with the details is where it's at 😊
havent watched him much lately but this reminded me of why chris harris is chris harris. absolute joy
Joe Kerry spot on indeed
It seems so. He also gave it a good hooning in 2012 in a /DRIVE video where he compared it to an M5.
The greatest thing about Chris Harris is that he understands cars at a fundamental level. A lot of lesser journalists abruptly end many reviews by saying "I just don't get what this car is about" and uses that as a con, but Chris never does that.
One Bell
Because among the jokers, and I like Grand Tour and Top Gear, he is actually a professional driver, rest are wannabies.
The ken miles of car reviews
He does with suvs but then again, no one knows what theyre about aside from posing and a feeling of elevated self importance
that slide through the leaves is going to become an iconic shot over the years. like that yellow bird RUF siding through the 'Ring.
@9:09 this has to be one of my all time favorite shots. Well done, Chris. We're witnessing our generations most legendary automotive journalist.
I wipe my tears watching this. Who else feels nostalgic and remembers the good old times of "Chris Harris on Cars"?
Loki Ronin yes, he didn't have a big budget but still produced the best pieces of motor journalism ever, some of his pieces were better than his top gear pieces.
One of the *Best* GT-R Video *EVER!*
Loki Ronin his p1 review at abu dhabi was the single greatest car review ever. his driving is so damn good.
Loki Ronin What are you talking about?? This is exactly that.
Yeah i think he meant tears of happiness kind of... that it's back to his old style that we all i suppose missed ;)
Nissan GT-R isn't old. It's just that, the rest of the world had 8 years for the catching up with the godzilla.
lockhrt999 hahahaha ma boi is right
lockhrt999 Wow. Fanboy much?
lockhrt999 honestly love the GT-R above anything but fanboys like you make everyone who truly loved it for what is (despite the flaws and the fact its being overrun by other models) make loving the car seem dumb. zz
True . Godzillaaaaa powerrr
Its kinda old dude lol. It hurts to say cause that means im getting old but i realized something today, ive learned everything there is to know about that darn car. So why am i here? Cause i have some weird man crush on Chris harris. That man makes remarkable videos even when hes talking about stuff that i have heard a hundred times. "oh the gtr is a nissan? Who knew? tell me more..."
Such an amazingly rich description of what it's like to drive this car.
That's the difference between a professional and a master.
I'm so glad Chris filmed this the way he did. Pretty much since these cars came out, people have complained about the GTR being "soulless" and being boring because it "drives itself", and it's too easy to go fast. I used to assume people were right until after they had been about for a while. I finally got to a few opportunities over the years to drive a couple of them on the track and ride in a couple others with skilled drivers. Now when I hear people say those things, I know the either they have never touched a GTR, or simply are not skilled enough to actually experience what the car can do. This car will be a blast and be capable of scaring the crap out of you in the right hands. Yet, at the same time, the car is soo good, if you feel like the car is doing all the work for you, that's because it is. But not because it's boring, but simply because you can't drive well enough to find its limits. Now that being said, that is not easy to do, so I'm not trying to act like I'm some great driver. I'm just tired of hearing people call the car boring when the truth is that the driver is the problem.
Possibly my favourite car...
@David Zambrano mate its a personal thing you moron 😆
@@dreadnought3039 I think it’s an alright car, not the best, but not the worst
Drove this and a Porsche GT2 on a track day. Thought I was going to like the Porsche more. Nope. Had more fun in the GTR
Owned the car for 4 years and I can tell you it’s a great car but certainly for the price today you can get a lot more amenities and luxury
Mine's also
Can't go wrong with some GT-R Skids!! 👌🏽🏁
Sideways Sid hb,j m erb m fb
@TopGear I'd be more happier, if you kept that camera view at the 5.07 mark, for the whole of the review!
I believe that the Nissan GT-R is the best and certainly my most favourite car ever to me it is never old it will always be an outstanding car to me
Untitled Mystery same here. Don’t think there’s anything like it.
It’s a life goal to own one of these
I'm in love now as I was before
you're brilliant Chris!
The Makina, UNDERSTATEMENT
True man... He's just an incredible driver and analyst.
This car now may be "old" but he's the reason that a lot called supercars today got better and driveable on the streets
That "small V6" with dual clutch and AWD with short 6 gears ratio set up the level of supercars.
And still today amazes me.
André Lima i dont understand how 3.8 V6 is “small”
Well comparing to all the na v12 lambos and the twin turbo v8 amgs and ferraris it destroys, it is a comparably small engine
@@stefan_4508 The AMG V8s are 4.0L. The McLaren V8s are 3.8 and 4.0L. The Ferrari 488 has a 3.9L V8. It's only the strictly naturally aspirated supercars that have bigger engines. So yes, it isn't small in any way compared to it's competition.
Love the POV from back seat really gives you a great sense of the speed and level of skill that Chris drives the car, amazing. Need more shots like this on all car reviews..
There is no German car I would pick at the same price over a GTR.
There are better cars 911 for example, but this is just so cool looking and rare
Depends on what you’re doing with it. When it comes to the track, this car will dominate at it’s price point and significantly higher. The 911 does have comfort I believe though I can’t think of anything else to be honest but I would love to know if you do.
@@davidjennings2665 yeah but the gtr has a cool factor because you don't see them as much as 911's
Yeah I totally agree the GTR is actually my most favorite car of all time and beats the 911 in every aspect except for maybe comfort. Other than that it dominates supercars at a fraction of the price, the GTR is still Godzilla lol
@@davidjennings2665 I don't think it's better than a lot of cars, but it's definitely at the top of my list and I would choose over many cars including 911 just because of its looks and cool factor alone.
That cockpit view looking out is what really shows the speed he's carrying into these corners and how he's got that pro race driver that has no consciousness and doesn't do "what if" scenarios in his brain. Amazing level of driving/focus, loved seeing that view!
I drove one of these at the same track he is on. The bend he slides out of at the end is great fun and know exactly what he means as he punches it out onto the straight - followed by a tight chicane. I passed a lambo down that straight. Absolutely amazing car..
What a brilliant driver and commentator!
Welcome to the CZcams rabbit hole that is Chris Harris.
Yep
I find myself coming back to this video regularly because it's so enjoyable! For starters, I really like the GT-R and all of the changes that were introduced for 2017 and Chris Harris is so phenomenal at driving first and foremost, as well as giving his detailed insights of the car and bringing the viewer into the experience in such a way that feels so intimate. Very entertaining. :)
They can call it old or outdated or a dinosaur but its the only car just like the R34 that will stay relevant for many many years to come! When Nissan decides to change and move onto an R36 they'll probably make it just as good! Nissan has never failed when its come to its R series's
MH United if the r36 is a nsx copy and they don't sell r35 anymore ok then
MH United r32 GT-R made the gtr famous .
Sam Madaraa correction, the 32 made the GTR relevant. It went up from there, amazing car.
Milan The Lad agreed. It came out way back in 2008 n it took other carmakers a good 8-9 years for them to make something as good for the same price bracket. An £80,000 GT that can do 0-100 in under 3 sec. completing the TG track time in under 1;20.
fastestlaps.com/tracks/top-gear-track
N just take a look at this list of all the cars thats done 1;20 or less. Most of em r pricier, r supercars, or track-cars.
How is the r34 relevant? It was slower around a track than the nsx-r's, evos and sti's of its time anyways
Nissan GTR is still a stunning car imo
Vickolous Especially from the rear.
and especially in that colour
agreed:)
I like this car but I will probably hate it when kids going to buy this Sexy GTR lol
I think it looks pretty nice, but just a bit boring for the price at this point. No hate, just an observation.
He seriously has great balls to slide that FAST Nissan GT-R with such speed around those corners... Possibly one of THE BEST GTR drivers I've seen and he's so passionate about driving that car... It's like he's known that vehicle for ages and Mastered most of it, If not all.
I love that shot from the back seaat, looking out the front. Really give you a sense of the speed and grip.
I absolutely love the interior shots looking down from the back of the car. It makes you feel like you're in the car as it hurtles along the straights. Magnificent.
Last time I was this early, it was still cool to hate on the new top gear.
kubica kotikac was youtube existing then?

Does that make Harry Metcalf the Marco Pierre White of cars?
This segment probably one of the best I have watched. 2 legend's, none other than the Godzilla and Chris Harris, the passion excuding at the end of the segment was amazing, absoletely poetic
Epic car - the slide he manages towards the end is just awesome - wonder how many cars could pull that off and still maintain the speed
its time for R36
You have VW Passat :)
FRANE ZUBČIĆ XD
I love the passat :D
DeAd I agree. While it's still brilliant, we need a new one which will out the new generation super cars back to their place just like the R35 did when it came out.
@@ralphsaad8637 fast forward to 2019. There is still no plan for R36. Looks like GT-R R35 and Z34 370Z will still be offered in 2025
You made me fall in love with the GTR again. I love how passioante you were and how this entire video gave me an experince that made me feel like i was there with you bro. Thank you for making a video about the GTR with great sense of care . This car means a lot to me and you are the perfect charactor to showcase the driving characters the GTRs have. Buy one and CZcams your own bro.
Absolutely Loved this video... camera shots and background music is awesome... hats off chris harris. Kinda looks like farewell video to the legendary Nissan "The Godzilla" GTR (R35). And that slow motion in the end is just..... Amazing.
I come back and watch this video all the time. Just so well done! Haven't seen anyone drive the GTR quite like this!
omg the differential is brilliant while cornering
I just realized that at the end of the video i was smiling all the time. That's what a great car Godzilla is, it can make you smile even watching someone else driving it in youtube.
I was totally doing the same thing! At times I wanna trade her in... but then this made me remember she is special...
Chris, That was amazing! I seriously teared up seeing that slow-mo bit with the leaves blowing. Nissan has truly built my dream car. Even if I never have a chance to own one. I'm on the hunt to drive one for a day or 2. Cheers!
The shots of the slowmo slides in the leafs are absolutely brilliant, the leafs and the bronze of the car match so perfect
He just can't stop drifting every single car he gets his hands on can he?😂
Chris harris - top gear's most valuable asset today .. what a video and what an amazing driver + vehicle .
Abdelhameed Barqawi I agree man! The Chris has brought Top Gear back to what it should have been for the last 10 years, top quality enthusiast driving cars skillfully. The old team relied heavily on stunt drivers and geriatric Jackass antics almost every week... ad nauseum... so glad those guys have their own show and no longer putrify Top Gear.
teinspringz true indeed
Lovely review, the 2nd half of the video was especially brilliant. The camera angle from the back seats give such as sense of speed and show cases his driving skill perfectly! Don't see how anyone could dislike the video. Just brilliant
Chris review's are so honest and raw he says things that no other journalist says like little sounds and clunks a car makes or how he describeds the chassis dynamics. He describeds everything with such detail but without boring you I don't know how he does it!
This vehicle is commendable. This car has forced auto makers to invent a new segment in super car history, and that is the hyper car. This new 2017 model has brought it two steps closer to perfection, and from what i understand Nissan is going to make the Gtr into a Hyper car in the near future. This car will be the hyper car destroyer.
The scene at the end with the leaves is pure automotive art… what a special moment captured in time! 🙌 ❤ 🇯🇵 🤤
Both the GTR and Chris Harris are national treasures worthy of protection… 🍻
Chris amazing video, I think this is the best GTR piece I have ever seen. Nice to see how the car loads up, depending on the driver input or lack of how it reacts. 9 years of perfection 😍
The wide angle view from behind the seats is absolutely stunning!
Damn those japanese know what's up with their cars
You mean one car
No I think he/she meant several
joyfulvulture yeah thats why nobody buy honda especially the civic
they always make decent cars, remember the 90s? Is just at the early 2000s when the strict environmental controls and post-economic recession forced Japanese manufacturers to make boring cars.
danrg26 actually they the biggest selling passenger vehicles in the States
9:12 This part is so beautiful it makes me cry .
I have a 2015 GTR and cannot get enough of it. Such a great car. I don't think I'll ever make the switch to any other daily.
An experience to watch. It's great to have you around Chris 👌
No ambulance and broken neck.
This feels wrong!
The GT-R is my dream car, has been for years. I actually got a little emotional watching this.
Bless your heart for this Chris Harris
Those Slow Mo shots with the leaves 🙏🏿
This is why I love Chris Harris he can find the good in any car and really describe it in amazing detail.
Harris is the only reason I keep coming back to this channel :(
Those slow-motion drift was superb.Nice shot
Great review (as always). I've been following you since early EVO days. You really deserve your success. And what a car! Last shot is bliss!
Wow! Thanks for vid Chris, keep them coming.
The best review of this car I've ever seen and as my dream car I've seen alot. He is the only person I've ever seen drift this car so easily during a review. His passion and admiration is evident and pretty much encapsulates why this car is every young boy's dream.
But did he have to turn off the traction control? 🤔
Is it just me, or the GTR actually does exit corners like lightning? Those corner exits looked damned fast.
AWD bro :)
AWS (all-wheel steering), too.
Fantastic job with this Harris, makes me remember the good old days of CHOC! Keep up Top Gear, as it is improving, but plenty more of these please!
when you fall in love with a Car thank you nissan
I think chris harris is amazing on top gear.
And i really love the more behind the scenes stuff, talking about trying to get the shots etc, really feels like your engaging your viewers.
Chris slides the car so smoothly. 👌👌👌 video !!
Car doesn’t feel or look old...you know this will be a classic collectors item in 20 years
It’s old
This car is so gorgeous. Ilove the fact it looks almost like a familly sedan and if you don't know the car, you'll be fooled by it's looks and never guess how much of a beast it really is...
A real pleasure to watch you driving chris! 👑
Amazing video man! I liked a lot the whole track logic explanation.
Top gear is just a new Chris Harris on Cars with better camerawork and a bit more production. I'll take it.
The only thing i watch from the new top gear. You should just make your own show. if you want to anyway
he already has, "chris on cars"
The blaze of colour when the bronze-orange GT-R slides thru the autumn leaves creates some very beautiful shots ! One of the few almost esthetic car videos !
Yes sir!! I felt so alive watching this. Thank you Chris👏
When this thing came out it was futuristic. It had a bunch of info on center screen and advanced electronic aids.
Now it seems rather simple and old fashioned compared to newer cars
West Senkovec well its competitor already having a successor. Corvette C6, Ferrari 458, Audi R8, Mclaren mp4-12c, SLS AMG, Lexus LFA, and etc are all replaced by new car. Mclaren even already 2 generation newer than the GT-R. So the R35 godzilla outlive all of its competitor
Shivers down my spine the whole time. Amazing commentary and description, cinematography and editing - blowing those leaves in the godly bronze!. The GTR is truly my dream car (i’m also being humble)
One of the best breakdowns I've heard on how these cars perform. Good stuff.
Did anyone else get a Gran truismo 4 intro vibe from the autumn leaves, felt so nostalgic, I want to go back in time 😭
Someone PLEASE identify the music in the intro. Been searching since they featured it in the Chiron video.
THIS CAR IS AMAZING!!!
Great work Chris, you have a great passion for what you do. I look forward to all your future productions. I wish you the very best in all your future endeavors.
I read your reviews in Evo for years and I always hoped you'd be a presenter someday on top gear after you started posting reviews on CZcams.
Much Gratz.
That last series of Top Gear was amazing. I'm kinda sorry the team is being broken up after your best season.
All the best for the future.
Chris should have a segment on Top Gear similar to 'The Smoking Tyre'...driving wild/tuned/modified/custom cars owned by members of the British Public.
Now that is the best suggestion ever.
Mark Levin the british public drive terrible cars though, it will probably be a bunch of fiestas
+Lethalcookiemonster I think you'd be surprised as to what is out there! You only have to browse some of the more popular Motoring forums for a small glimpse.
Great suggestion. Hey Chris, listen to this one
I don't think Matt Farah would be too pleased about that....
I first fell in love with the GT-R, Nismo and Nissan as a whole when playing Drive Club when it first came out. I absolutely love the sound it makes!
What an awesome video. Those last few minutes were really fantastic and unique to Chris.
This was SO well done.
I truly enjoyed this video. I'm not a huge R35 fan, but this gave me a new appreciation for it. Magazines have bemoaned the updated GT-R for being too soft and understeering, but Chris found the joy of it all. I really hope to drive one on track someday.
Finally a review where someone appreciates this amazing machine
The best car video i have ever watched.. the best capture, the best driver... he is not showing off.. he is not trying to show something about himself. He is just doing his job perfectly.
Well Done My Friend.
As a Turkish men, i am proud of you. !!
The music, the car, the driver, the setting; created the perfect montage for a great review video. Well done Top Gear.
Yes... Chris Harris On Cars!
J’adore cette voiture ❤️
Haven't watched Top Gear since the trio left, but I gotta say, this guy's review was amazing. Entertaining, thorough, and you can see the passion he haves for the car while driving.

That video was art! Nice job, Chris!
And anybody can say what they will about the GTR, but the bang-for-buck is still there. It's still a simply amazing car for the price.
Speechless, that was an amazing classic Chris Harris film.
This was automotive poetry.
Love ur passion chris and how you really connect and become at one with the car as you review!
Superb. A driving/vlogging virtuoso at work. This fits my definition of art.
