I noticed the same thing when I traded in my Scat Pack for my Hellcat Redeye. Off the line, on the street, I didn’t notice much of a difference, but once you get going and that boost kicks in, the Hellcat starts to scoot. Just shows how good of a street car the Scat Pack is
Yes i fully agree with you
MEOW
Good way to show how the street is a good equalizer!
I didn’t know Stone Cold Steve Austin started cartubing, good shit man🤣
Thank you brother 👍
That was a spinfest and that's the bottomline. can I get a Hell Yeah ?
ZFR Cars hahahahaha
WHAT
@@rotekkable thats the bottom line because RacerX said so!!
Great vid brother! You went through A LOT of effort swapping out all those tires to get folks some very usable and practical information.
Thanks buddy.. yes this one was quite a bit of work
@@RacerX9 thanks for all your effort
Quick Brick Great point! I was thinking the same thing while watching. LOTS of effort there! Bravo!
Drag racing has always been that way. If you can't get it to the ground it doesn't matter how much power you have.
Agreed Will
It depends if you have AWD or RWD also, there is certain amount of torque or power after which RWD became pointless or not enough.
@@russkiytube So explain Demon....
Higany8 demon is simply overpowered (some videos even shows exploding rear differential on it). I’d ask you to explain how bmw M5 competition will less HP but AWD accelerates almost as much fast as Demon. Imagine what Demon would be if it was AWD.
@@russkiytube 3.1 seconds is quite a lot slower than 2.3. Or what 0-60 do you have on the M5?

Shooting and editing this must have been a hell of a lot of work but damn it was interesting - thanks for taking the time and putting this together!
I think you convinced me to get a new scat pack instead of a used hellcat. I have no intention of hitting the track, just random street racing lol.
You will love that Scatpack 👍
I advise to stray away from "cheap" high horsepower used cars
NGT OI i want a scat pack and eventually a hellcat but it’s crazy that the scat pack runs only a second slower in the quarter mile
@@devn3813 I was looking at the charger scatpack but wanted to wait for the widebody since it'll come with the 11 inch wide tires that come on the Challenger widebody. The tires your can get from dealer are at widest 9.5 inch on both Challenger and charger without widebody option. Even the hellcat!
@@GamertagO1 good idea man. hold out for that widebody and you will be happy about waiting when its in the driveway
I have a 2019 Challenger 392 T/A and this info is good to know, Thanks for taking the time to do this.
No worries Scott 🤜🔥🔥

Great video. Appreciate all the hard work you put in for us
Well made video. You proved that 1000 hp on the street is overkill. The Scat pack is an awesome car. I have a 2016 6spd. manual, damn it's fun to drive!
Brian R absolutely .. the Scatpack is a blast for sure 👍
Best launch I got in my scat pack was on 275 P zero's and it was 3.9 seconds also great video really helped out a lot understanding the difference between tires on the street
Thank you Mr. Randy 🤜🔥🔥.. 3.9 is stout on a street tire 😵
Great video! I loved it. The comparison with tires was equally neat.
Hemi Challenger .. thank you my friend 👍
Ur videos are keeping me satisfied till this Saturday when I go pick up my 2021 scatpack challenger !
You put in some work for this one! I enjoyed it. Definitely learned something about those Scat Packs..seems like it's more bang for your buck.

This was a GREAT vid! Very informative and surprising to say the least. I just bought a 2016 scat pack and after this video I’m looking into purchasing a set of the Nittos or Mickey Thompson’s! Thanks brotha!!
Great Review Racer X! Really enjoy you're channel. Huge Mopar fan. Love all the different reviews you do. 👍🇺🇲
When I first got my 275 Firestone Indy 500's I did about 6 0-60 runs in my Challenger Scatpack. Put the transmission in Track, left it in 1st, and left traction control on Street. Doing that got me three 4.2's, and then a few 4.3-4.4 runs. With stock 245 tires I was consistently 4.5-5.0 seconds.
Forrest that sounds about right.. very respectable times my friend 👍
Forrest i want the Indy’s and was wondering how they do in 0-60 runs. I cannot get below 4.8 with the Goodyear’s. It’s spins literally the entire time even with traction control on
@@devn3813 I'd say go for the Indy's man. I got 275/40/20 on mine and they perform great and look great too. When I had the 245 Goodyear's I was frustrated seeing everyone get low 4's while I was doing 4.8 and sometimes 5.0+ haha. Like I said, I got these and 3 out of the 6 0-60 runs I did I hit 4.2 with Track mode and TC on, the other ones were 4.3 and 4.4. Handle much better in the rain too.
I currently own a Scat Pack 2017 automatic. My first dead stop 0-60 with stock tires 4.3. Didn't even use launch control. Grip vs horsepower equals fast 0-60 every time. Goodyear supercar summer tires 80 degrees outside. Love this car! Dodge is got a winner at a reasonable price on used car lot!
Thanks for the great content, taking the time and doing the work. One of the best videos!!!
Thank you Timo
Very informative video! Appreciate the multiple configs.
Goes to show you that all MFG posted 0-60 times really are done on prepped surfaces, various tire combos, etc.
Best I’ve done in my 19 Mustang GT with PZero Nero is 4.4.
The street itself has so much variation. Surface type plays a big part. Gradient is also a huge factor...even a slight incline/decline can create drastic changes.
Your absolutely right.. real world conditions make a big difference
A very informative video. Great work!
Kertamo .. thank you my friend 🤜🔥🔥
Just got my scatpack and I'm in love with it.
Awesome.. what’s not to love 👍
great video very detailed, well explained and to the point. Keep up the good work.
What a great detailed review . I own a 2012 Boss302 and 03 Mach 1 and this review was very helpful ! Subscribed!
Welcome to the channel Rickey 🤜🔥🔥
I wonder what the 0 to 60 foot times would be ???, Or from a 40 to 100 on a roll ???, Just throwing ideas out there for a possible next test, That was interesting and great content, I'm Impressed with the Scat Pack, I think real time, No prep, On the Street, The Scat Pack won that test , That is Street " Not Track ”, No Heating of Tires, Peace brother 💯💪👍👍👍
Agreed Chris 👍.. I think the Scatpacks power is just more usable on the street.. it seems to hook right in.. although X-Cesiv is probably not the best example of a normal Hellcat since she’s got so much power over stock.. kind of an interesting test 👍
Unless you got an SE, SXT, or GT Chally; those 245's just aren't gonna cut it off the line. I traded up to 305's on 10.5" wide rear wheels as quickly as I could! I'm actually running 315's now, & couldn't be happier!
I need to do that on my Hellcat Redeye, I didn’t get the widebody option
@@pops55650 I don't have a wide body either, although the kit is on my wish list of mods. I still love the look without it though. Just wish I could get Sticky Mickey's in a 315/35R20...
Good vid and a real eye opener. Never thought that the times would be this close. Really interesting.
Wanted to leave this comment to say thank you for the work you did to make this video I really enjoyed!!
4 Doors or Die 🤜🔥🔥
Great comparison , what size and what type of muffler are you using on the hellcat ? I love the note it sings 👌🏽
Thank you Mike.. it’s a custom welded exhaust called a tunnel ram with no cats and custom 5” tips 👍.. it’s really aggressive but it’s nice a deep which I really like
This was great information. Doing diferent tests and comparing different tires.
In my mind I'm always comparing my scat pack to my buddies hell cat. Obviously he's gonna chase me down every time eventually. But he spins alot.
All in all super interesting.
Thank you Clint.. yes I thought this might make for an interesting little test 👍
If you think about it the scatpack is a great bargain considering it’s olny 20mph slower then the hellcats top speed. 180mph 40,000$ car is a great deal lol.
Great video. Lotta good information presented. Would be interesting to see a video comparing all the launch control settings and tire pressures on the street.
Steve Robinson .. funny you mention that. Check out my latest video 👍
Thanks a lot for your time. That is some great info. Unbelievable how much bang for the buck the scat is
absolutely... The scat is a ton of car and a ton of fun for the money
Awesome video! I suggest Arturo tires for the scat pack. Amazing tire for the price. I have been able to get a 4.2 on the street in my shaker on the Arturo tire.
Jorge Salcido .. that’s a solid time my friend 👍
What you experienced with your SP is on par with mine. I now just run 305 NT555r's on the back as daily drivers, it's a great all around drag radial that isn't bad in the rain. Mine came with 275s and the best I could do with the 275 Pzeros was about 4.4 on the street. With 555r can do 4.1-4.3 all day on decent surfaces with occasional hero runs of 4.0. At the strip on prepped surface I get 3.7-3.8 on average The NA 392 is a great engine with a lot of low end kick. 👍 👍 👍
Hemi Head .. I fully agree with you 👍. Sounds like your getting some solid pulls out of those Nittos .. they are a great all around tire
Great vid brother. Awesome, great job
I just love this guy and his videos my dream car is a Dodge Challenger and this guy has one in literally every video and I love it!
Mickey Thompson 💪💪 Great comparison video👍
Thank you my friend 🤜🔥🔥
The best I've ever gotten out my Scat was a 4.5 on atturo az850 and a 4.7 on the skinny 245. It takes some practice to get them off the line with minimum spinning
Takes some practice to get off the line with 305’s! Lol I did a 4.0 today. I’ve only got 1800 miles
Best I’ve gotten is 4.0 on a stock 2019 scat pack
@@anthonyscarfi3381 that’s great for stock. Best I’ve done is 4.6 stock as well.
I wish you had the ability to do this with other cars. This is super helpful.
Great comparison - I love that you actually tested some different tires. I have a '15 SRT 392. Running Contintental ExtremeContact Sports on it. Have done 4.2 seconds twice. Have done 4.3 seconds multiple times. Can regularly do 4.4-4.6 seconds. I have my custom drive mode set to sport, but with street traction control. Frankly though, I get my best times by modulating the throttle off the line, and then burying it. The Continental tire is very under-rated in my opinion!
ShamusCars .. I think if I had continued to practice I may have been able to get that time down some but it’s still a challenge under those conditions 👍
Can't say I'm surprised at the results. 1000 HP is not really useable from a dig on the street while the Scat Pack with 485 HP and a sticky tire makes for a sweet spot for traction. I've never raced on the street but at the track I've beat a lot of cars with more HP and less weight. I want that Redeye but if I get it I'll need to learn how to drive 😀
Bob I say you get the Red Eye and come join us in the land of Spinsanity 😆.. yes I think the Scatpack hits the traction sweet spot
Makes sense but I want to see if your doing better than the traction control in these cars. Great job!
Andrew .. I have a new video coming tomorrow about that lol 👍
Great video from beginning to end. SUBBED. My takeaway: For the street and daily driving save the money and go for the Scat pack and use the difference in price from the Hellcat on Mickey Thompsons.
Black Conservative Patriot Channel 2 .. certainly one way to look at it 👍.. welcome to the channel
Thanks man...that was very interesting for sure. Nice to see the comparisons with the different tires on both cars. Just wondering what kind of time the scat pack could muster if the transmission wasn’t in sport. Like maybe wouldn’t break the rear end loose between 1st and 2nd..! Again nice video..!
I actually tried a couple of days later and got similar results. The road I was making these pulls on is less that ideal so that may play a factor
First of all another great video. But you and I both know that the power your kitty makes had absolutely no chance of putting it down. Still enjoyed the video tho. ? Can you still use your black key for less power. If so you should do a comparison with SP.
Marion Lee .. thank you .. great idea! Perhaps that 500hp mode is worth a try! X-Cesiv is impossible to tame on the street in normal driving mode
Possible best of Both worlds.. Track red key... Street Black Key. agree with Marion Lee
Got 305’s on my Scat Pack, I’d put it up against any car! Love it
did you have to upgrade your rims from the stock rims to do this?
Great video. I enjoyed every minute of it.
Good practical street advice. A fresh pair of M/T's and plenty of practice produces good hole shots
It's great your lady loves racing too, man you got a keeper!
This video says it all guys. I had a scatpack challenger and traded it in for a Hellcat charger, thinking there would be a dramatic change, but there really wasn't. After 2 months, I traded the Hellcat back for a new 2019 scatpack challenger. I think that the Hellcat's are way overrated, especially for a 25k price difference.
I think both are great and they make power very differently
People normally tackle how much HP they can get but one thing alot of people forget is that Torque matters just as much if not more when it comes to drag racing
HP is a derivative function of torque...
@@thomasburns3345 there's a reason they have their own category buddy
@@GOATEDHUNTER144 Yeah, your torque curve demonstrates acceleration characteristics, and can help you “see” how a car feels when accelerating. It can help with getting up out of the hole faster (assuming unlimited grip). A car with a flat torque curve that’s lower can be faster than a higher torque car that’s peaky and has a narrow band though. Turbo cars especially these days often are faster than their number would suggest because they begin peak torque very low, and carry it through or past to when HP more so becomes the number you’re looking at. That’s what makes my car so fun for me (Supercharged) is that it’s a linear torque and HP curve, no torque spike, just constant growth to the top of the gear.
Ultimately though if the car is geared well and driven well you’re mainly looking at HP since you’re likely staying close to or above 5252 rpm after first gear.
I’m not saying you’re wrong, in fact you’re right and I agree with the idea that most forget torque and that it’s important. I do think saying it’s more important than HP is a stretch though... maybe in diesel applications because the power and is so short and low?
Wrong 😂
What a great video! I like how you did it in real world conditions.
4everinthe80s .. thank you my friend 👍
I just subscribed... I'm very impressed, love the video!
Those 245's are TRASH
Agreed my friend 🤜🔥🔥
Couldn't agree more. Even with the 5.7 245s are too little. The best I've ever been able to pull out of mine is 5.7 0-60.
I just put 255 on the rear of my 5.7 challenger. Still doesn't hold perfectly. 265s would be perfect I think
@@frazerholland6180 I actually was going to do some overkill and put 295s on the back, but the wheels I was going to buy were supposed to be discounted but ended up not being so I backed out. It doesn't help that I have an open diff and not so great tires either.
@@PacoRobbins Oh, dude. With open 295s would have been awesome. I've manged to get a flat 5.0 0-60 in my 2018. I'd like 275 but I think I'd have to upgrade my rim's, right?
Great comparison! I have a 2015 Challenger Scatpack. I have Nitto NT555Rs and have ran a 3.9 second 0-60 on the street. About 65F temp and about 500’ elevation.
At the track, I cut a 3.6 second 0-60 with the same tires. Equated to an 11.8 second 1/4 mile.
Good work my friend 👍
I'm so jealous of you at 500 feet. I'm up at 7000ft and the best I can muster with stock tires is a 4.8 on a slight downhill. On flat ground the best I could get was a 5.2. Missing 100hp really hurts.
Edit: I have a 2017 392 Scatpack Shaker 6m btw.
Nice .. yes that elevation is definitely hurting you
I'm really glad I stumbled onto this video.......I have a 2012 GT500 that I have done many bolt on mods too, last step was to put a larger VMP Super Charger on it but this video made me change my mind. I don't drag race, don't swap tires around etc... if you can't put the power down without spinning it boils down to HP measuring up :) Great video by the way.
John Stephens .. you got it my friend .. the surface is the great equalizer 👍
Good vid, new subscriber! I have a 16 cat, I've had the 555r and loved them, I took off my winter setup and went for some BF Goodrich on all four corners this summer. So far so good but haven't run it hard. Still have my 555r for a "rainy" day on some rep wheels.
Thats a great wheel set up my friend. Welcome to the channel
More hp gets you a faster top end speed. They will be pretty equal on the street doing street speeds.
Brian.. yes it’s all about putting the power down effectively 👍
Another thing to consider in this comparison is that your cat makes waaaaay more power than stock. So a stock hellcat may be able to hook better and run a quicker 0-60 on the street than your Demon-Killing Cat😈 so a stock hellcat might be able to pull off a 3.9 sec run in the same conditions 🤔
D P3 .. great point my friend... yes my car has been nastified and set up for the track which makes it essentially impossible to hook up on the street 👍
I see hell cats get spanked by 400 horsepower to the wheel cars in the street all the time. 0 to 60. they don't hook well 0 to 60 so the fact of the matter unless you plan on racing over a hundred miles an hour where the Hellcat really shines! it's pointless to spend the extra money for the Hellcat. you might as well save and go Scat Pack. the 700 horsepower is just bragging numbers. It isn't usable on the street. therefore it's a waste.
It is definitely tough to hook all that power on the street.. although mine is highly modified so it may not be the best representation of how a stock hellcat performs
this is a great dam point
@@markjones2185 Dumb, if you can afford a Hellcat you can afford Drag Radial tires. I get 3.6 to 3.9 0-60s with a 18 Hellcat Charger, 275 /40/29 M/T DR...
I love that growl when it grabs that next gear reminds me of my srt8 magnum no where what these new srt cars are doing but it was good for it's time great comparison on the tires
trashy truck stop mechanics .. yes I love that sound as well .. it was a fun little test

Crud - I thought it was going to be Hellcat vs a 1970 440 Scat-Pack Challenger with modern tires.
Interesting match up.
I got 305 on my scat pack and my best is 4.0. With constant 4.2
Solid times my friend 👍
RacerX thanks that’s on 32 psi . I’m actually looking forward to dropping it to 25 and doing some launches
I have a 2018 charger scat pack 392. Do the 305’s fit the rims it comes with?
Which 305s did you go with?
Lord Eddy 305s are way to wide for a 9 or 9.5 inch wheel. That being said with the right offset you can fit a 10.5-11in wheel under the rear fender of a narrow body charger. On those wheels you can put a 305-315 depending on the tire. 315/35r20 is the same height as a 275/40r20.
I just upgraded my scat pack to 275 pirelli p zero nero tires on hellcat 20x9.5 wheels...you've inspired me to see what it does. I can tell you that the hellcat wheels are a lot lighter than the scat pack wheels.
Great video! Nice to see real world tire comparison... looking at my pic, that's my best 0-60 on the street with all season conti dws06 275s in 70°f Haven't been to a track let alone put drag radials.. haven't even tried a 0-60 with the Michelin Ps4S I'm running now. 2015 charger SRT with hellcat airbox and k&n drop in filter, rear diff brace and exhaust valve deletes... that's it.
It’s kind of a fun little game seeing how well your car performs 0-60 on the street 👍
Brother why don't you tell us what size rims you're using? Because if you're using the stock 9 inch rim it's no different than a 9 inch rim on a 245. I know your results show slight difference but if you were running an appropriately-sized Rim such as of ten or preferably 11 I imagine it make a tremendous difference
Miles Eston .. the rim on the Nitto was a stock 9.5 Hellcat rim and the MT Street SS had an aftermarket 9.5” rim .. they weigh about the same .. good observation 👍.. didn’t think to talk about rims
You just convinced me to buy a 6.4
Scatpacks are tons of fun 👍
Thats what I did. You won't regret it.

Definitely.. a well sorted car is tough to beat on the street
Your 0-60 is probly a constant 4.8-5.1 thats a njce take off and would deff keep you next to almost anycar on the street

Very surprising stats!

Great video. Looked fun 👍🏻
I have the 19 scatpack Challenger as well, on 245 eagle RSA 2 my best street time was 4.4
Also have the 3.09 gears as well which you should have in the scatpack too
Wow.. that’s an incredible time on those small tires Frank 👍.. I was spinning like crazy trying to get that sucker out of the hole
My best with the trash stock tires was a 4.5 had to warm them up and still smoked them off the line. With my nittos I still smoke them but I usually get 4.2-4.4
I think I was in that same range 👍
@@johnnykilroy9399 I think there is a sweet spot on spinning the tires. Spinning gets the car moving faster and the rpm is up to keep it pulling to the next gear. To much spinning and you lose time. It's finding that spinning sweet spot
Good afternoon my friend hope you're having a great week👍👍👍👍👍

Lewis Shepard .. welcome to the channel my friend 🤜🔥🤜
RacerX thanks Man. I bought a 2018 Challenger Hellcat last year. It will remain bone stock it's entire life. How ever when the back tires wear down would love to go to some sort of street slick. It came factory with a winter tire. All I care about is straight line performance on the street. Would love some ideas on something I could run on my stock rims. Without rubbing.
You make great content. Keep it up.
555's are garbage on high hp cars. Get the 05R's. I dead hook on the street in my E85 '18 A10 GT, 4.2 with only 490 wheel. I'd chew a Hellcat up rollin' around town...I don't fear them with my set up.
Mustang Man .. I tried both the 05R’s and the 555R’s and they seem to hook about the same on my setup.. although the hellcat makes power very differently than the stang.. 890tq @ 2500 rpm will make any tire feel less than ideal lol
Yeah bud, my lack of torque helps dramatically leave the line easily. For sure. Not sure I'd agree with a 555 being equal to an 05R though. My 05R's hook a lot better than the last set of 555's I had. I think your problem (which is a nice one to have) is all that power you make, especially down low. @@RacerX9

That's why all-wheel drive is so much better for the streets cuz you always hook up critical for short races light to light when all these punks have their Subaru WRXes LOL
Richard.. yes all wheel drive is king for the short stop light to stop light runs..
once again great vid, very educational for street racers for sure
Thank you Bob.. 🤜🔥🔥
Fantastic video, I love it!
Good shit! Wtf, why did take so long to see a video with real life situation. Eg Stop light race. 👍🏼
Great video bud. I wonder if MT would be a good all around tire for daily use versus track on a redeye. I’m weighing my options once the stock tires are due for replacement. Keep up the good work. New subscriber!
Welcome to the channel Saif.. on that Redeye you will love the MT Street SS .. it will be like night and day on how the car hooks.. but be prepared to replace them fairly often ..

loved it
I worked 2 years up fitting the "shaker " scat packs for FCA
I loved the car and always had to think how muck power do you need on the street . to me it was perfect .
You got to love the hell cats. BUT!
Right now I'm doing the JEEP thing but it is the wife turn for a new car and shes looking at the challangers
