It's kinda funny how some of these clips, they chose the only part in the song where there was no rap at all lmao
My thoughts exactly! Every Fintelligens song was only the chorus😭
Like Juice Leskinen.
I also find it funny how someone thought it's valid to include Eevil Stöö in the Finnish rap evolution. He is definitely a huge staple in the Finnish rap community, but he has not really followed any of the major trends, except for a few trap albums he made.
My favorite rapper too, especially the latest album.
@@pattepel2242 he's valid in the list because he does regularly chart. His music is popular. Not mainstream, but it has its share of fans.
Stöö hits hard. Gnarly beats and genious lyrics ,but yeah not really part of the evolution as he always made his own path.
Finnish rap is influeced by:
5% Time
5% USA
90% east-Helsinki
100% the inability to sing and make music!
Lahti is the capital of finnish rap. Also raptori is from hyvinkää. East Helsinki has brought us only pain And misery.
@@js0988 storytelling in finnish rap is better than US rap and lyrically better
@@kommunisticamperkommunisti8 Lahti definetly isn't the capital of Finnish rap🤣 I don't think there's a rap capital of Finland, because you can find pretty decent or even very good rappers from almost every major town/city in Finland, but if it is some city, it definetly is the actual capital.
This comment wasn't to discredit Lahti at all, because there's alot of good rappers from Lahti too.
@@kommunisticamperkommunisti8 Jyväskylä
New age finnish rap is just wannabe gangsters with a shit load of autotune 😂

It's especially sad coming from a country where the crime rate is ridiculously low. Yes, there are issues that go deeper than that like drug abuse, alcohol abuse, spousal abuse and other societal issues, but most will just "rap" about money, bitches and trying to be famous by any means necessary. Just sad. I'm by no means an expert on hiphop, but cerebral stuff is just severely lacking from the equation.
I think I gave up on this stuff in the late 90s, but even I was just mostly into it cause of catchy beats and flowing lyricists. Way too well off to even pretend having any issues back then.
That’s the case pretty much everywhere. But Finland being one of the safest countries to live in, makes it even worse. People reaping all those welfare benefits yet they rap about struggling in the ”hood”🤣
There is the roadman culture where people desperately want to act like they're americans in the hood. This seems to affect a wide section of the young people.
Fr lol thats why i hate it..tbh i dont even need such detailed reason it just straight up sounds like ass
RIP MKDMSK
RIP EZKIMO
yeah both were very good. so sad they aren't here anymore. :(

clips are way too short in that video
copyrights
@@TMiK21 copyrights allow more than 5 secs. 20-30 sec is the limit
@@paulitapanimaki7311 Creator of the video said copyrights are the reason why clips are only 5s
Avain/Asa was life changing in the early 2000s, one of the first to write lyrics that criticized the government and talked about real problems. Punainen tiili album was like the Finnish version of The Message by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.
Every Finn should listen Punainen tiili album at least once even if you don't like rap, the lyrics still hold true to this very day.
I dislike rap, but Punainen tiili absolutely slaps
Paleface is a hip hop artist and definitely does rap. Fun fact that I just learned about: his stagename is from his times in USA as an exchange student where he was called paleface as he was one of the first to visit black- and latino student homes. Anyway, he definitely has his own style and the song “Helsinki - Shangri-La” is more on the melodic side. His lyrics often touch politics, injustice, government, and other flaws in society.
I don't understand much about rap but I've understood that Finland really has a strong and high quality rap culture. And finnish language is like made for rapping! 💪 I hope you to react more to finnish rap!
Rap and heavy, Go finish 🎉🇫🇮❤️
You have misunderstood
You are parly correct and partly not. Finland indeed has a pretty vibrant rap culture/scene with alot of different kinds of rappers who make different kinds of rap, but Finnish definetly isn't made for rap:D In Finnish you can make pretty complex rhymes like "tupla riimi" and "tripla riimi" (double & triple rhymes), but you can't really make as complex multi-syllable rhymes as in English. You can make even more complex rhymes in English than multi-syllables where you have rhymes inside of a rhyme or that you have multiple overlapping rhyme scenes and if you're a really pro writer, you can probably do those in Finnish too, but it's really damn hard and imo it just doesn't sound as good as in English.
Bruh. It’s the exact opposite of what you just said😂
@@-AxisA-Yeah, you would almost think Finnish would be good for rapping consider all of the short syllables, but it also allows for less freedom in terms of flow. This is a problem moreso in singing where Finnish is a lot more "controlled" and has less chances for long sustained notes or vocal runs, but it also makes rap quite difficult because pronunciations are very rigid.
Avain/Asa is one of the most legendary rappers + lyricist in the finnish rap scene for decades. Dudes a living legend here

Kai se on pakko mennä kuuntelee koko levy, ku en oo koskaan kuunnellut koko hommaa, vaikkakin oon kuullut erittäin paljon kehuja. Oon tottakai Punaisen Tiilin kuullut ja varmaan pari muutakin biisiä, mutta en oo koko levyä kuunnellut koskaan kokonaan ajatuksen kanssa.

bomfunk mc's music videos were responsible of like half the kids in my hometown starting to breakdance. Me included. So great.
There was many good songs, but because clips were so short, the best parts of those songs never came up, 3 to 5 seconds is not enough to get full idea of the song.

Finland does actually have pretty bad streetlife. We have the highest drug related deaths among youth, in EU. Sweden has one of biggest gun violence problems in europe. Finland does not have that much gun violence, but we absolutely do have a lot of low income areas, people, and problems with that currently. A huge part of finnish rap is actually influenced by our street culture more, rather than the american hiphop. Finland has had it's own hiphop culture for decades, which has been so big that it's bled even to mainstream. Finnish hiphop culture is pretty huge compared to size of the population.
I know I wouldn't wanna hang out or do any business with the ski mask guys. Their attitude towards life is ACAB and KC.
Yeah, if you go check how many times the rap videos been watched compared to best stars from many other genres of music from Finland. Youll notice they have more views.
That beat you didn´t remember is Mobb Deep shook ones pt 2 it was on 8 mile movie too
Freestyler might be one of the best known finnish songs without people knowing it’s finnish
Another one maybe even more known Darude - Sandstorm
How about Ievan polkka? I mean, since like mid 00s people thought it was just leekspin song and the lyrics were bunch of nonsense or even japanese.
Pretty sad early Rasmus or even Mariska aren't mentioned in here!?, but other smaller and obscure groups/bands are mentioned several times with their hip-hop tracks
Finland also has an amazing rap parody entry worth checking out Castle Street Killaz by Supermoniveto
React more to Finnish rap!
Rap is crap
The "Raptori - Oi beibi" will make a grown man blush.
"Avain" is still rated as best rap artist (Not in artist, album or song lists anymore, but when Avain is compared to new artists, he win almost every time)
oh my god the songs from my childhood, what is this feeling..
Same. Nostalgia and melancholy maybe?
Old, Feeling old as f...
These way too short clips bothered me! There are so many awesome songs included throughout the years, wish you had listened longer clips. 🤗 Love Finnish rap ❤️
man i got to a certain part and i would say ur reactions are the best TBH
I used to rock saggy pants in highschool and was the only one in a school of about 2000 people. Those songs from 2002-2011 really brought back strong memories. Housut roikkuu, hoppipäät hyökkää!
12:20 u would not believe the amount of roadmen and roadminions i see on a daily basis while just being in school😹
the beat used in SMC - Hoodrats at around 7:15 is Mobb Deep - Shook Ones, Pt. II, voted in January by Rock the Bells as the greatest hip-hop beat of all time
also whoever compiled the video being reacted to definitely had a very obvious bias in what they picked and included, a ton of repeated artists and overlooking some absolute gems along the way... also the clips are super short and often just include the hook, or in one case nothing but a sample from an old schlager song 🤣
I wonder why so many pieces had the clip from chorus part when those weren't actually rap. There were samples from mainstream songs and like if I remember correctly, Paleface's Shangri-La has rapping in verses, choruses are more of a pop/something?
There is a video in similar vain called " Suomirokin evoluutio - 100 suomirokkibiisiä, 1 otto" aka. evolution of finnish rock, 100 finnish rock songs, 1 take.
Spanning years 1960 - 2016 it gives quite good picture of the sounds and vibes.
Another topic i would find interesting would be the iskelmä/schlager genre, not sure if there are any similar vids on that ho. As far as i've understood schlager is quite limited to mid/northern europe. And it's been consistently popular at least from the 40's onward, so it's a neat little cultural thing.
I personally enjoy Laineen Kasperi a lot, you can't find translations for any of the music so I sometimes translate it myself to some friends. Some songs I enjoy are Suomi-Neito (Maiden of Finland) and Uuteen Aamuun (To a new morning). One of my favourite tracks, Vallankumous (Revolution) is a collaboration with another noteworthy finnish artist called Yona. Yona combines classical music in her production wonderfully and one of my fave songs is Pilvet Liikkuu Minä En (The clouds are moving I'm not).
As a 45-year-old man the only rap artist I can recognize are Raptori from the 90s and Avain for his "Roihuvuori" song from 2001. I used to live in Roihuvuori when it was played everywhere and the way he described it was so far from the truth that it was more of a joke than anything else. It was a quiet neighborhood with mostly old people and he described it like it was Compton.
I started following you as soon as I clicked on the video
I’m following you too 😆
Blind Channel re-introduced the horror... The horror ... The unholy alliance of rap and metal... The abomination known as nu metal.
Good video!
Nice video 😎
Also if u react to some of these ones individually i would love it and 100% people would love the song/rap reactions
Specially I love 90-2000 Finnish rap...
Everyone should listen some bangers,so underrated.
The famous beat @7:25 Soulchef, Nieve -Write this down
Finnish rap gets a lot better when you understand the lyrics and the story behind them
Your reaction to Raptori was definitely correct. It was pop music with humorous touch which sadly kind of made Finnish rap scene not developing much in the 90's.
I couldn't say what genre it is but I'd put Bloodhound Gang in it too.
The point being that it's not just a Finnish thing
If you say that raptori is not rap band you clearly are not familiar with their work.
I think Raptori still counts as rap, but not hiphop per se (although, their musical style did vary significantly from song to song). It was 100% meant to be humour music from the beginning and they did purposefully parody italopop at some point (for example Oi beibi). But what else than rap would you call the style where most of the lyrics of the song are performed in recital that's not melodic?
Nikke T?
Raptori actually has some rap songs, but they always be forgot under the popular songs like Oi Beibi.
Minä ja Ryhmä tells about members of the band. That's a rap song
And also Rattijuoppo. Tells a story about drinking and driving. This song also has that wonderful drum machine sound :D
A lot of great songs on that list. Shame there was only one Ruudolf song, that guy has some of the dopest and funniest tracks, with great samples.
i am glad of you because you react to Finnish music and i am from Finland
u should do finnish rap group SMC that has the same kind of vibe that wutang clan had, they first song is even made on Mobb Deep - Shook Ones, Pt. II beat
Yeah, you only heard the beats and production - which are awesome, with the flow of course. But we had our progression in the lyrical section as well, people on their writers benches topping each other weekly for UG releases to be blasted on the weekend radio and sound systems. I grew trough it as a DJ and watching how for example US music scene of course had a big influence. From watching MTV to some travelling over to Philly and stuff to soak the whole hip hop culture in. Lyric side has their own nuances, from conscious to humorous and of course, gangsta rap. But there are some super dope tracks out there, they are also very sought after on vinyl with insane prices.
Great facial expressions. As an intro, and a sideline, some soulful music coming your way: "Soulset - Sauna Soul (1969)", "Esko Linnavalli & Esa Katajavuori - Snake-Snake (1972)", "Battaglia - Kuminen nainen (1974)", "Matti Järvinen - Laiska mies (1976)", "Seppo Rannikko - Woodoo (1977)", "Oiling Boiling - Funkalator (1977)", "Päivi - Liljankukka (1977)", "Maarit - Jäätelökesä (1978)", "Paula Koivuniemi - Lähdetään (1980)", "Riki Sorsa - Can't Stand Dancing (1980)", "Steel City - Kello käy (1981)". "Anja Niskanen - Ollaan hiljaa vain (1984)", "Nisa Soraya - Anna rakas raju hetki (1985)", "Jussi Halme & Lori St. John - Love Pact (1985)". "Niko Ahvonen - Onnen ongintaa (1996)", "Pepe Deluxe - Before You Leave (1999)", "Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators - Feeling Free (2005)", "Tuomo - Don't Take It Too Hard (2007)" and "Bobby Oroza - Should I Take You Home (2018)".
You need to react to Gettomasa
What the heck?! Juice Leskinen had a rap song? I am EMINEM-fan.
Eminem fan as well
@@GIOBOZZ Did you know Elastinen did a rap song with Snoop Dogg? It name is Koko yö.
not just one, search "Juice Leskinen - Siniristiloppumme" there is even musicvideo
@@arsipaani That is definitely the one I would've featured.
Pretty good summary of Finnish rap despite the clips being way too short. Some of them didn't really get to show the rap part of them. But for post 2021 - my favourites in the recent year has been Eevil Stöö:s newer albums, Lyttä & Tohtori Getto, Pessa, Paperi T and Ex Tuuttiz. They all make pretty different style of rap, so you should check them out if you want a more contemporary look!
Stepa (in the video 2008 and 2014) was born in Sodankylä and is famous to represent his hometown! ❤
Avain - Punainen Tiili was biggest rap/hiphop album in Finland at a time and still absolute legend, but one I hope was on that video is Redrama. Redramas first album Everyday Soundtrack from 2003 was just incredible and one of my all time favorites. I think many finnish people dont even know this album. My personal favorite track from that album is A Day At A Time.
czcams.com/video/G0yT9qd2Nt0/video.html link to that track if you want to give it a shot ;)
Did you know that Finland haves an rich jazz culture? Like the legendary Muddy Waters lived in Finland! And his son, played together with my cousin. J. Karjalainen was a student of Muddy Waters. My favorite Finnish jazz is: Helena Siltala - Ranskalaiset korort, The Northern Governors live in Pori Jazz and Carola - Voi saasta.
That smc hood rats beat/sample was Mobb Deep : shook ones.
Actually good video. Song you were thinkin is mob deeb or from
@ 7:20 the beat is called shook ones part 2 i believe :) Its from Mobb Deep :)
yup, kinda surprised that he didn't know that. it's a classic anyhow
7:28 that famous beat is Mobb Deep - Shook Ones pt2 beat
MC Taakibörsta, SMC, Notkea Rotta, that's my jam. Never liked Cheek thought he was arrogant snob (he's not), Elastinen was too nice (he's cool). So much good stuff I didn't get around to when they were big.
My favorite currently is Paperi T. He has amaizing voice. And style. 💯🤌🏻
oi beibi is the most superior song of finnish rap
@7:25 The beat is from Mobb Deep.
I'm not a massive rap guy personally, but I think you would definitely like Gettomasa if you wanna check him out :) I was in the same grade with him in elementary school in kortepohja and he was already known as the "rap guy" back then amongst the kids lmao
1:37 the song slightly hints to an Italo Disco song... T.Ark - Undercover Lover.
You should react to Stafa - Dash. hes an upcoming artist from my hometown in Finland
2000-2007 gold times for fin rap. rap is not my top music genre but lissen it some times.
Omg I miss so much 2000's finnish rap, that was fire !!!
you need to translate the oi beibi by ratori lmaoo
Finnish is an "angry" (intonation-wise) language and it is very flexible, so it is actually excellent for rap!
And then, in 2023, we get rap(ish) in the Eurovision Song Contest served by Käärijä the great 💚
the smc beat is from shook ones pt. 2
11:24 i think the lyrics are fairly similar. mostly just drugs money and women but there are some other stuff too.
4:54 like this one is clearly about ice hockey.
I'm always surprised how much hiphop and rap my childhood music was. I think some of the non-rap/hiphop songs were just performed by artists who are part of the genre scene.
Also, this was a very male list: we do have women rapping and hiphopping too, and they've been around for long. Eg. Matriarkaatti (~2020s) music.czcams.com/video/CxT7acBX9jI/video.html&si=LHRibqo3kQJAE0en, Mercedes Bentso (2010's) music.czcams.com/video/mloZaGpbKlw/video.html&si=SfdzPA5AgR8FkaBm, and Kwan (early 2000's) music.czcams.com/video/dW52HI3LLKs/video.html&si=YC-3TwP9Dej7e5YM to mention a few. Music history lists are often very male dominated, so just wanted to point this out :)
honestly, the video didn't do the songs justice, but I do recommend checking them out. If you want to see uniquely Finnish stuff, check out Asa and Paleface (his Finnish stuff, the first album in English is mid) and maybe Julma-Henri. I also always recommend Eevil Stöö, but he's very clearly and openly influenced by Memphis rap, but later in his career he's gotten pretty experimental. If you want something completely different, check out Amoc and Guerra Norte. Horrorcore rap rapped in a dialect of a minority language only 400 people speak.
King video🇫🇮
relatable reaction on the last one bruh they think they UK:s but aint no way they getting that far
...at 07.29 you are referring to the famous beat by Mobb Deep . The Shook ones - pt.2 :)
Nas beat:)..greetings from Finland
Here are some Finnish rap artists that make different kinds of rap for you Yankees & other foreigners:
Huge L, Eevil Stöö, SMC (SouthMalmiCrew/SkateManiacs), Ahti, Gettomasa, Kube, MKDMSK (MikidiMaski), Mikidi & Gaiaf, Likanen Etelä, Turisti, ReijoRihkama
I will add more artists to this list maybe at some point or if requested
Also if you like to listen to freestyles I would highly reccomend listening to "KultaBassoKerho" (Golden Bass Club) where there are alot of prominent Finnish rappers just freestyling for a couple/few hours.
It is a crime that there is no clip of flegmaatikot. Early 2000's quality rap.

Damn I was 13 years old in 2002. Remember getting those baggy, overpriced jeans and skating shoes for myself. Wore the jeans probably 10 times before they got wet in rain. Just threw them in a corner in my room and they got moldy. No amount of washing got the smell off so switched to hiking gear instead and stuck with them to this day. Went to military service, but I do still actually hike, fish and swim in nature all the time so that has worked out for me, but none of those clothes that were popular due to US culture are fit for the weather in northern Finland.
The amount of cringe is serious listening to this.
lol indeed
I recommend that you react to Aakkosmurha by Pale face and Selvä päivä by Petri Nygård.
The 2009 famous beat is mobb deep - shook ones pt.2 (i think its the og)
Also ALOT of these clips were sadly just from the chorus, didnt give a lot of songs credit😁
after 2010 rap wasnt rap I knew, thats why I like more underground rap wich many people hate cuz subjects and some lyrics
USA rap scene is pretty popular in F
inland, we follow and listen lots of it. It has high impact, most of the we do it our style. Like Gangsta rap isnt really popular in Finland
Raappana - Maasta maahan (quite good reggae)
Hi i am from Finland and got here randomly by recommended videos and i have few things to say. Video would had been better if u consentrade to way less songs and listen them more "deeper" bcs there was quite a few songs that sounds very different in other spots and so on. Last thing that really pop to me was how u reacted to the dude with skimask around 12.01 into video, yea it´s Finland in 2024 and its common sight nowdays bcs there has been new gangs coming (mainly from Sweden) and they have come here to take over the grud market so skimask guys are not that uncommon sight nowdays! Also funny they claim we are happiest country on earth but if we are happiest so why we are atm under massive strikes and there has been huge inbalance between prizes going up but wages stayin same. Also "funny" that we are every year like in top 5 but when u look out suicide stats worldwide, Finland is quite up there, so how most happy ppl kill themselves so much then. just a BS propaganda that whole thing imo.
Also have to comment about u laughing to the masked guy. like year ago that was out of normality but crime has really exploded here in last year or so. Specially street robberys with weapons which was unheard here like 5y ago.jnow under 18y olds are doing them daily which was unheard before!
Look Sweden and what is happening there, we are 5-10y behind so we still have a change to stop the same happening here but we have to toughen up our laws and do some "big moves" to prevent same happening to us what happened to Sweden. Things are not looking good if things keeps going like they have so far and our goverment have swept this problem under the rug. Even now typing this i have to be careful what i say so i don´t get prosecuted from hate speach or simular bcs this topic is so touchy to talk out loud using the REAL words instead that example now i can´t write here what is reality with true words!
Sorry from long comment but just had to clarify few things that people have totally wrong picture about Finland and people living there.
PS:Sry my bad English but i hope u understand it that much that u get the main message.
you should listen to Gettomasa. He has very good songs and also his older ones hit hard.
You should listen more, and many other artists from Finland...
Here's some crazy good s..t!
Enjoy!
You should listen to Fintelligens's first album
Greetings from finland my dude! And no, we ain't the happiest country or happiest people😅😅and what comes to music, it's changing all the time, not only in finland tho
Juice Leskinen did rap music too? He is known as one of the greatest singers and songwriters in Finland
You should check the 23-24 rap evolution. It's amazing especially Ibe❤
