Yo man you should react to raappana he is a reggae artist from finland
I like many of them.
Finland became independent in 1917.
Actually in 1918 but IT started or something in 1917
@@FinnishSnipar We declared independence on December 6th 1917, and that's when we celebrate our independence day...
@@FinnishSnipar The Finnish government declared independence on 4th December 1917, and the parliament approved it two days later, on 6th December 1917.
@@tonituomanen3113 bro i know
6.12.1917 correct
That beep beep is DEFINATELY your smoke alarm informing about empty batteries xD
Thats what i tought too😂
3:10 Olavi Virta, probably one of the most iconic and best singer there ever was in Finland. He had an amazing voice🙏🏻
It is good to remember that this covers only mostly pop music while pretty much ignoring other genres completely
ps. also, most of the earliest entries are international hits that have been re-written into Finnish versions, not original songs. This was very common in the world of music back then. Around the 1973 mark, most of the songs start to be original songs, and not international remakes
pps. Also yes, Olavi Virta is extremely highly ranked Finnish singer, and a lot of older people consider him to be by far the number one singer of all time
ppps. That alarm sound sounded like your fire-alarm is running out of battery
Wow thanks for the details
Ppps
Finland has a VERY strange relationship with Johnny Cash, of all people - feels like most his songs have Finnish covers.
@@uwu_smeg Oh, I didn't even know that, but it is not that surprising, his music style is very relatable to Finns. Especially his cover of NIN's Hurt, is so incredibly Finnish at heart
1994 Samuli Edelmann. He is also an actor. He was "Wistrom" in Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol
Given that Finland has more metal bands per capita than any other country in the world it's almost criminal that none were featured here
It's specifically Finnish (as if in the language) music, so immediately cuts out many great bands and also is largely focused on pop hits. A few seconds of one song per year is also just SUCH a thin slice, I did a extended versions of sorts for the 70s through 2000s on my channel, but something this bite-sized IS a lot more accessible.
Tapio Rautavaara was also a very good athlete "Rautavaara won a European bronze medal in 1946, an Olympic gold medal in 1948, and five national titles in 1944-45, and 1947-49. He placed fifth at the 1950 European Championships. In archery Rautavaara won a team gold medal at the 1958 World Championships and a national title in 1955"
There is only 2 Finnish person that won gold medal both in Olympics and the gold record-sale.
Matti Nykänen and Tapio Rautavaara.
Wow didn't know that about him. Some people are just wild
That Haloo Helsinki's song was a hit internationally.. That is probably why you heard it before.
Internationally, in Finnish? 🤔
@@sielukettu Kansainvälisesti.
@@anneliseppanen9105 eikäkö ihmettelin että voiko suomenkielinen biisi menestyä kansainvälisesti 😃
@@sielukettu ai niinkun cha cha cha ja carnival of rust? :D
Wow Their best group not even mentioned? Watch Nightwish, that is music at his finest Ghost Love Score to start with live from Wacken 2013
At about 70's translated songs was a huge thing here, so that's why a lot international hits in Finnish 😊
The Finnish traditional music is genre called Schlager music!
"Schlager is a loanword from German (from schlagen, "to hit"). It also came into some other languages (such as Bulgarian, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Dutch, Czech, Finnish, Hungarian, Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian, Serbian, Turkish, Russian,[3] Hebrew, and Romanian,[4] for example), where it retained its meaning of a "(musical) hit".
Finland has quite healthy reggae culture which people tend to find bit surprising.
For me it went from Kapteeni Ä-ni and soul captain band from the 00's through raappana, juju, jukka poika, and nopsajalka to the present day where The Meänland is the band filling the reggae niche in the playlist.
thank you for making these videos about Finland
Nice feelgood video! Of course this scratched just the surface of Finnish music, but I´m still glad you reacted to this stuff.
If you hear beep beep, then you might want to check your fire alarm battery.
It was something in the kitchen. Figure out what it was
Oh, I love your reactions about Finland and you look good!
I like the story of Eminem's Stan (read it, too much to discuss here), but also the Dido connection. She said that her artist name Dido, already hers as a kid, is her true name (it is really Florian Armstrong, which she hates, as Florian is a German man's name, and she was bullied bc of it. The ancient Dido was the famous Queen of Carthage). Her song 'Thank You' was first heard in the film Sliding Doors in 1998. The Dido sample came first for Stan and attracted Eminem's attention. He wrote Stan thinking about obsessive fans' violent behaviour. Both songs were chart-toppers in 2000, and Dido's career got a boost.
Had no idea about that. Thanks for sharing.
It looks like You´re smiling more as the days get longer and the su shines now and then, BR Auntie-Ellu
You have very nice videos and seems a very nice guy. cheers
Tapio Rautavaara still strong after all these years.
Please can you react to Suomirokin evoluutio - 100 suomirokkibiisiä, 1 otto. in english 100 finnishrock songs, one take?
Yes please do, it's amazingly good considering it was done in one take. The guys doing this are very talented.
You really should do this
Catch with Olavi Virta, please. He is the voice of FINLAND.
4:30 Puhu Hiljaa Rakkaudesta. I'm ashamed I didn't insatntly recognize what the OG song was, but I knew the moment I heard this tiny clip that it couldn't have been Fredi's own song. And 2 second googling later, indeed, it was the melody of the theme song of Godfather. Then when I relistened to that tiny clip I instantly could tell that yeah, indeed that's exactly what it was.
I know there's an awful lot of these "cool song you got there, lemme make it a finnish one" in these old days, but I wasn't expecting a movie's theme song to be used as one :D
2011 "Haloo Helsinki - Maailman toisella puolen" the drum beat is taken from "Prince & The Revolution - Kiss".
Yous should get in to Finnish metal scene there's gems like Mokoma, Stamina, Nightwish and Children of Bodom that gives different musical experience. There's also rap like paleface and others taht might give little insight to diversity of music comming from finnish anxiaety. Also Viikate is good example of melancholy rock that is foundation of finnish music.
good reaction from u
more reactions to songs!!!
Quite a few of the 90s bands started gigging again in the 2020s. That's why the pictures look like new.
you really nail it with your comments. Do you know how right you are!!!
You prolly joking and actually thought I was absolutely wrong
@@GIOBOZZ Not at all. I am to old for sarcasm!
Good job. And I will check out your other videos as well 🙂
Haloo Helsinki song, Prince when doves cry.. Had the same feeling with first hear.
I'd assume many many others recommended this video as well
9:26 It's either an interpolation or cover of Berlin's "Take My Breath Away" from the original "Top Gun" soundtrack. BTW, Dido is pronounced DIE-doh, and Ciccolina is CHEE-cho-leen-uh. She lost to Blind Side in UMK I believe.
Give us a video of music Finns have recommended to you and rate them. There are epic national treasures EVERY FINN loves when they come on like AIKUINEN NAINEN, R-A-K-A-S, RAKKAUS ON LUMIVALKOINEN, HÄISSÄ and POIKA SAUNOO.
HAHAHAHAH the beeping of the fire alarm. well well well
My former coworker played in a band in the -67 and was asked to warm-up act for some new upcoming american artist. It turned out to be Jimi Hendrix.
you should react
to raptori oi beibi or raaka aine miehen työ
10:30 as far as I was able find, Maailman Toisella Puolen should be Haloo Helsinki's original song and no mentions of samples being used that I could find, not saying it can't sound similiar to something else, but no similiar thing as with your example of Stan here
Yoo whats up😮
Great songs
Thete also lot of metal music in Finland. Btw. Check Lähibotox doc from yle areen. Lähibotox is mixed rap & metal.
What a random selection 😅
Clips are so short, would be nice if they were a few seconds longer. But I guess you listened every song a little bit more
I think those were too short parts from the songs to get good picture of the most. All the older songs are classics and i think that most of thr sinnish people that have any musical backround knows these songs. I think that anyone who plays or writes music should know the history of the music of the homeland.
But there sure is lots of great songs in the past and there is name of the artist and song in every peace so if you liked some of them, take the name and song down and listen the whole song from youtube or spotify.
1975 was first covid.
Piiip,piip..Bear alarm or reindeer...?
i love eminem's live version of stan with elton john. dido's also good :)

Wasn’t that

Im from finland
Listen to music by Popeda or Eppu Normaali
slim mill and joose keskitalo
Olavi Virta, Tapio Rautavaara, and Eino Grön are probably the greatest Finnish singers. The recorded lots of covers but still mostly original songs and many of them are considered to be eternal classics. Juice Leskinen was incredible songwriter, but not much of a singer. Badding was also quite unique.
I don't know if Haloo Helsinki sampled the original, but to me it sounds like Lady Gaga's Paparazzi.
Best rap-music in Finland is, in my humble opinion, SMC-HOODRATS/LÄHIÖROTAT. They have the old-school skate-rap and NYC-style rap in there while rapping about real issues in their respective neighbourhoods(poverty, crime, etc.). You should check them out and read the english translations for their lyrics to get some context.
But in the general theme of music in Finland, i was hooked on older music by my parents when i was a kid, so i feel you there. Almost all of those songs featured in here are one i have heard from my childhood and are very nostalgic to me.
But the finnish music a bottomless well of translations, original melodies, remixes and raps you could speak about for days. This was a nice glance of our music, so than you! 😁
Finland got independent in 1917.
and was lost again when joining the EU on 24.6.1994.
I think this is one person´s list.
The rap you were reacting to wass ASS, some good rappers we have: Gettomasa, Lauri Haav, Costi, Ibe, Cledos
Darude Sandstorm
dude the war in ukraine and in a fortnight the swedish defence minister telling their citizens to prepare for war and the country you live in has the longest border with russia in europe ....
in the 50s we were actually really good with things. like when a bully beats you up you know it doesn´t happen again very soon.
shit´s gonna go down.
danes just made mandatory for both sexes to serve. germany is about to make the army mandatory.
are you living in a cloud? europe is preparing for war with the longest borders with russia as the most responsive ones. finland just bought 65 f-35s from the usa. because they WILL be needed.
Stop listening to these 2 sec "evolution videos"
Can't get shit out of those.
FN RAP. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO S H OKE!!
there is NO RAP... JOKEE!!
Schlager evolution largely... Not so much pop or rock
Respect Fin music. You have lived in Finland that u should respect us! Not dissing Finland in the middle of nothing from Sodankylä.
Everything isn’t a diss
Chill!
take criticism
Always will speak the truth.
Can’t take the truth this ain’t the place for you.
First, Rap is not music. 1950-60's Music to Finland came from Italy and Germany.
I didn't like any of them, the genre of all of these are called "iskelmä" and only middle aged women listen to these 😂 Personally I hate them and trust me when I say, there is better music in Finland, I requested some good rappers in another comment😜
What? I'm 27 and I listen to Iskelmä 😭 But I like every genre of music (except jazz).
Ei noita kaikkia kyllä voi iskelmän alle laitta
