  • Everybody sells in this market starting around 1pm and goes until they sell out. I would say they are normally done around 5pm. So the best time to get here would be between 2-3pm.

My favorite thing in the world is that my brain thinks of you as kin because you’re a Southerner speaking with a Southern accent but then you so smoothly transition into Vietnamese! My mind is starting to positively associate Vietnamese culture with Southern culture. We gossip and cook and share food the same way. You even treat the Aunties the same way we do. It’s just a really pleasant experience for me. It’s rare to find Southern language CZcamsrs. I’m like genuinely shocked at how big of a deal accent is to comfort level. I didn’t even recognize that there was a distance between me and CZcams’s English-speaking polyglots until I heard your voice.

If you haven't had the pleasure of dealing with Vietnamese immigrants in the US, you're missing out. They tend to be really good at integrating with their local community while still maintaining a lot of their culture, which they are proud to share with others. I've heard from foreigners that the Vietnamese in their countries are the same as how I've described them here. Basically, the Vietnamese make a great addition to any community that welcomes them.

It's the day before Lunar New Year here in the U.S. and this wound up in my feed. NYC transplant living in Northwest Arkansas, so I'm acclimated to the Southern accent and hospitality. The first thing to get used to is how folks just have a conversation with you waiting on line for anything - bank, grocery, restaurant. Seeing him do the same in Vietnam just shows you can take the boy out of the South but you can't take the South out of the boy. 😊

Max..I have noticed you have been filming more of the Che desserts recently. I so appreciate you showing us their delicious Vietnamese desserts as I love them but they can be difficult to find here in the USA. Have a wonderful day and I am looking forward to your next video!

@@TheCharlesLuu Im in Tucson. There are a lot of Vietnamese here, but mostly they run stores. Can find some vietnamese desserts like banh xu xe and banh da lon but not really Che. There are some more options up in Phoenix though. I know Houston is awesome for vietnamese.. wish I could visit there!

Is this the first drink he had? It looks very good, i'm trying to figure out how to make it. Could you tell me the full name of the drink/dessert?

It's fun to hear Vietnamese words interspersed throughout sentences in English with a southern American accent. 😊

Lunch, dessert and coffee! Perfect meal! We got that Che Trang in Singapore as well. It’s called Yong Tau Foo or Niang Tau Foo. Stuffed with fish paste as well but the commercial ones are ass and unfortunately the most common. The Hakka style version is the best and a proper one is getting harder and harder to find! The broth here is usually made with anchovies and soybeans if I’m not wrong. Great work as always brother!

I enjoyed watching this very much, it is heartwarming. It is also good to hear you speak local language as it shows the Vietnamese character exchanged for us to better understand. I have always had respect for Vietnam etc.
I have thought to travel there. Of course the food and drink i will love.

the "pomegranate" in vietnamese che is really tapioca made to look like a pomegranate. one of the ways i've seen it done is with water chestnuts or jicama diced dredged in a tapioca solution then dried, then cooked so that's how you get the chewy crunch to it.

Watching Max eat is kind of fun because the longer he eats the redder he gets and the more the veins pop and eventually he starts to sweat and I'm just waiting for that episode when his head finally explodes like scanners

Well done video. What you're doing here is much the same as my visit to Sicily where I broke away from any tourist lanes and spent all my time deep in the interior life of the Sicilian mountain and country communities. The people eventually opened up to me and I enjoyed the richness of their very different villages. Once you make that connection, they rush in to overfeed you and share what it is they do such as art, music, etc.
