  • This is another Period Roscoe Films Production of BRSCC racing cars in 1964.
famous drivers and cars all racing and crashing during 1964 at circuits that then had little or no safety protection.
this is an original Roscoe Films Production thus is covered by copyright (C)
this is dedicated to all the volunteer marshals and the BMRMC (BMMC) without whom our racing wouldn't be possible.
there is some blank audio this is due to technicalities beyond my control on this old film

Thanks for uploading this great footage. My father is driving the Cooper number 7 at the 4:56 mark. I remember my parents telling me when I was young that this was shown at their local cinema, they didn’t even know it had been filmed! I’ve never seen it before :)

I used to go to most of the car and bike meetings from the mid 60s and always fancied racing. I did do a few track days there were you could literary drive anything round and I found that my old twin cam Anglia van was just the perfect thing to mix with some of the race cars that were going round at the same time. I couldn't afford to do circuit racing so I chose the oval circuits and went hot rod racing. After a few years I swapped to Motocross and then decided to go classic saloon racing in the late 80s. I built an Anglia and won first time out. After that I raced up until 2012 with many wins and had a fantastic time.

Great to hear your experiences- the anglias are ace, alway mixing it with the bigger cars and often bettering American muscle cars.
I have more of dads films on the Chanel that I’m sure you’ll enjoy from this same period “ sort by most popular” and they’ll come to the top of the list.
      Enjoy 😉

LOVE these old flicks from BRSSC, and David Roscoe's commentary is terrific. I know I've heard his voice before in a movie or two, I just can't place which. Happy to see the occasional TR3 tucked into the packs, too.

I was going to all those circuits back then.
    Wonderful memories.
Then later on I marshalled at them all, and loved marshalling at the exit of Paddock Hill.

Oh yes, absolutely, on Brighton beach that very year, there was a wonderful tea party with lots of scooters, pea green suits and fat ties. If I remember correctly they were there to meet up with their good friends who liked motor grease, bikes and leather.
Admittedly this is where my memory gets a bit hazy but I think they all ended up hugging.
Such a shame we don't have nice, well behaved people like that nowadays!

@@markholroyde9412 You were claiming it was a time when people had manners, integrity and decorum so I pointed out a famous fight on Brighton beach in 1964 showing that, in fact, people were just as capable of being unpleasant to each other then as they are now. Reality.
You too were born in the 60s, yet instead of replying with manners and decorum to a light hearted comment, highlighting the slightly romanticised view you have of the period, you called me clown shoes.
It was meant to be a bit of fun, jokingly pointing out your lovely, rose-tinted glases, but here we are, passive aggressive punctuation (hilarious) and all.
