- A genuine 1961 archive film, originally colour 16mm film of a BRSCC Season. Features very many famous drivers and cars. Jack Brabham, The MRD that was to become Brabham, John Cooper in a Cooper, Bruce McLaren, Stirling Moss, Roy Salvadori etc etc together with stars of film and TV - Bill Travers ( Born Free) and Raymond Baxter Spitfire pilot during WW2 and later to present Tomorrows World on TV.
This is a slightly longer and more commercial film. Thus there is period references to smoking and smoking products. This Channel does not endorse or promote smoking - Smoking is Bad for your health.
Filmed and produced by my late Father David Roscoe. He stopped racing himself in 1959 and took up film making in a semi professional capacity and made films of Racing and club motorsport, setting up his company Roscoe Films to do so. This was until the mid 1970's when he went back to racing in VSCC events. I hope to upload many more of his films. Copyright remains with Roscoe Films. Please no reproduction without permission.
The humour in the commentry is wonderfully of it's time. The music also adds greatly to capturing the era.

We weren't there. You were. Please take some comfort in that. Having lived in Thornton Heath, just around the corner from Crystal Palace until recently, it is hard to believe racing ever took place there. However I do believe pianos and other , er , unwanted, furniture is still burnt there, if only to destroy the evidence. A less noble motive , but with the same effect.
One thing that was evident from those times is the none of the Marshalls or track supporters were worried about getting run over😂

If one watches carefully ,in the background at the 20:43 mark, the cameraman is focusing on the turn in the foreground, but in the background an orange car spins and then overturns.
Well spotted👍 even I haven’t spotted that before. These are films where you notice different things every time you watch them.

Help me! I cant' stop chortling at the wonderfully quirky comic touches but nothing shocked me quite as much as spotting the interloper Ford Anglia in there among the E-Types and SWB Ferrari Berlinettas. Watch 2:40

There were no Brabham cars in 1961.
thanks Frank for the clarification - i think it was in its MRD ( Motor Racing Developments Ltd) the Jack Brabham / Ron Tauranac designed cars- the name before it became known as Brabham.
Another 20 million people in the UK since this was recorded and the root cause of all the problems existing today in 2021 fact.
How very true.
From a longer perspective, the commentary is incredibly embarrassing. It's not sixth form, we were better that. It's about third form.
