About the series:
In this series, I will be talking about the process of applying to Oxford/Cambridge or other UK universities. From preparing yourself to researching your course, writing a personal statement, getting your recommendation letter and dealing with (*touchwood*) rejections. I named it Oxbridge in specific because I only applied to those universities for my Masters, but these tips and advice are generally applicable to most UK universities!
I recently got accepted into an MPhil programme at the University of Cambridge and I thought, given that I had gone through the process of applying, there are tips, lessons learnt, and perspectives that I wanted to share with future applicants! Plus, when I first started applying, there wasnât a consolidated resource dedicated to sharing "insider tips" about applying to Oxbridge especially for international student, and I hope that this series will be helpful for people! :)

â ïž *Before you email me with questions about admissions to UK university, try going on Google or the university website to find the answers - most of the information is actually readily available online. I'm always happy to help but you have to do your own research, it's the most important step for anyone interested in studying overseas!

My dream college is IMPERIAL COLLEGE LONDON
Hey there! Can I ask whether you are still studying for your bachelor degree? How does prediction score work? I am also currently a second year study in Bristol who is planning to apply to Oxbridge for my master degree. However, I just feel a bit scared about applying to Oxbridge since I havenât really have that much experience yet. Do you think a student who is straight for undergrad will be at disadvantage..?
I applied when I was in my final year of undergrad - if you are a current student too, thatâs the only time you could apply (re. Final year, and make sure to check the deadline as well).
I donât think there is any disadvantage by going straight from undergrad, many of the students who got admitted to my course are also final year students going straight to master. Iâd say it depends on what course youâre pursuing because some do require work experience (which means itâs automatically off limit).
Work or organisation or voluntary experience are huge plus - itâll help you craft the right narrative for your personal statement as well. I strongly recommend to brush up your CV with a couple of relevant experiences before you apply. Good luck!
