Thank you for this...one of the very best videos with Mr. Vidal. He is the finest man of Letters ever, an astounding man and what a shame he never went on to assemblyman and/or Governor of CA. in 1984(?)
Never have I read, or heard such a brilliant man...such clarity and wit, honesty and a wonderful, fearless person. Oh, I miss knowing he is not here now. Millions read & heard him...and still can.

@32:41 Largo di Argentina, the site in Rome where Julius Caesar was assassinated at the Curia Di Pompeo., which has recently been reopened . I think Gore himself believed that Caesar was assassinated five mins walk away, at the other end of the Teatro di Pompeo, which was the name of the main complex. He would have enjoyed knowing.

I'm breathing quickly and my heart is beating in a similar fashion. So much info dropped in this, and also new learnings add more context to impermanent truths nestled between permanent truths CFX

What he said about the unholy alliance between evangelical Christians and the Israel lobby is still true today.

To be fair, David McCullough was the biographer of America. And yes, Th. Jefferson was correct: the US Capital City should have been a brick village, not an American Marble Forum.

McCullough won lots of official praise and awards for his versions of history....while Vidal shared the disdain of the ruling class for his work reserved for the Howard Zinn types of writers/chroniclers of american history....its rather clear who was exposing truths the public was not supposed to know about
