- This was Phillip's first interview with Gore Vidal, known as the grand old man of American letters and the 'godfather of American politics'. It was first broadcast in April, 1993.
It is an open and wide-ranging interview about his life and his work, in particular his real-life involvement in politics during the 1960s, and his film role in Tim Robbin's satirical film 'Bob Roberts', as the liberal Democrat Senator Brickley Paiste, first broadcast in April 1993.
At this time Gore Vidal was yet to write his subsequent scathing essays on the Bush Administration or the war on terrorism, because this was recorded when Bill and Hillary Clinton had just moved into the White House.
Thank you for uploading.
I had no idea Vidal was that much taller than Studs.
Vidal’s affect, though.
Who is the interviewer?
Phillip Adams!
@@youtubeuser-7098 Thank you. I love the Aussie accent
Makes me feel relaxed and comfortable. Like listening to a friend. :)
Barry Commoner to Gore Vidal's right?
Looks like Studs Terkel
@@edancollins4442: Yes, that’s Studs Terkel.
No that is definitely Barry Commoner, whom I met and talked with (about Marx's Grundrisse) in State College, Pennsylvania during the 1980 presidential campaign.
It's Terkel is on Gore's left; Commonoer on his right
