I guess..office of city commissioner is held by DGP only in two cities Delhi and Mumbai. Rest of metro cities including Chennai, office is held by officers at ADGP rank and DGP, sometimes ADGP leads some major departments like law and order, Anti corruption etc within police department. But all this DGPs are headed by Senior most DGP who, needless to say, controls entire police department...Hope I am right...

Please listen to the video fully. After getting posted as ASP, then next immediate posting is SP. Training period is short, then he/she become SP. This is what I meant.

What I have advised is Correct..Initially ASP for 2 years, then SP.

For direct IPS, ASP is first posting.
You are wrong in two places . Pls give correct data. 1. IPS trainee after 2 yrs probabation training in NPA , they will be posted as ASP in district and they have to work for 4 yrs in district and 5 th year they will promote to SP. Not direct SP after IPS training . 2. TNPSC group1 DSP Can go till IG post maximum that too If he join as DSP at young age . They cannot go till ADGP / DGP post . Only IPS Officer Can reach .

1. IPS trainee works as ASP first. Later he becomes either
Addl SP or SP directly. In any case, the main subsequent hierarchy is SP. This is what I meant. The time period varies between 1 to 4 years.
2. You are wrong. I have not told that Group 1 selected DSP CANNOT reach IG or any particular post. I explained the practical scenario for promotion considering age
In the past, even Subinspector recruits have become DIGs in Tamilnadu. Now it's difficult considering the hierarchy structure. For that matter, even now there are chances for DSP recruits to become DGP through quick promotions. But they have to perform extraordinarly

1987 batch Group 1 DSP had already reached the rank of Add.DGP in Tamilnadu.
