- Here's a instructional video on how you can adjust the size of your bracelet at home. You don't really need any fancy tools for this one. Just a spring bar tool, some sort of a small screwdriver/pin or something like that and you're golden! In this video I resize and shorten the folded link bracelet of my Seiko 5 SNKL41.
Had a cold when I shot the video, so bare with me. Also somewhat fiddly since this was the first time I adjusted any bracelet myself so kind of figured it out along the way :)
Hope it helps!
Here's a video tutorial on how to adjust a straight pin bracelet!

Thank you! It's a bit fiddly and required more pressure than I expected but it worked in the end. :-)
My pleasure! Yeah same thing when I filmed this video😁 I think you can see the table/camera shaking when I apply pressure haha..
Just wanted to say thank you man. I resized my folded link watch using a thumbtack and a spoon. Lol saved me $30.
Nice one! Glad to hear it was useful :)
Actual guidance on how to size a folded bracelet starts at 2:41
Good video, thank you
Thanks for that! My pleasure!
Thanks, would never have figured it out without your video
Glad I could help! :)
Man your video was a lifesaver! I would have never figured this out! Thank you so much!
Really happy to hear that! My pleasure mate :)
Thanks! Just what I was looking for.
Glad to hear it :)
You can buy generic third party sets of cotter pins and of pin and collar pins but you can't fir these U-shaped or in this case L-shaped pins. Usually this isn't a problem as you start off with far more pins and links than you need and unless you're still growing, you shouldn't have to add links. However, one of the U-shaped pins in my Seiko 5 simply fell out, fortunately, I picked up the pin from the garage floor but obviously the pin became loose over time and friction no longer kept it in as much as it should and the pin does appear to have worn sections. I crimped the link to apply more pressure on the pin but I wouldn't mind replacing the pin with a new oin that had no wear patterns however over the 30 to 40 years that I've had the watch, the pins and links first removed are now long gone and I uaven't been able to find third party generic u-shaped pin sets for jewellers and watch makers though I have found that I can order a brand new Seiko bracelet of the same part number.
Sigh, the crimping seems to be holding though I frequently see a few pins sticking a little bit out instead of being flush which is unsettling. It might be less expensive to purchase an old Seiko 5 with the same strap to cannibalize as needed but buying another original stock bracelet isn't too bad either. Third party replacement straps are often better quality but the 19mm lugs of the 7009 calibre Seiko 5's aren't really common anymore with most third party straps being in the 20mm lug and larger sizes and of course there is something to trying to keep a watch as original as possible despite the facts that mods can improve them.
However, I still have the remote hope that maybe somewhere generic u-shaped pin set might be available which is why I watched your video as there isn't a lot of content with the u-shaped and L-shaped pins.
Great and simple guide, very easy to understand and implement. Thank you.
Glad to hear that this was useful :) My pleasure!

Great and helpful video! Thanks for sharing this!
Thank you! My pleasure, glad it was useful!
Omg, I gave up and just going to take my watch to the watch maker lol. 😂😅
There's no shame in that! These bracelets can really be a pain to adjust!
Thanks. Had no idea you have to push so hard!
Yeah they can sometimes be lodged in there really tight!
You got what I meant despite the autocorrect error 😂
@@colinthorn hahah yep😂 I figured it out!
I had to use incredible amount of force for such a little thing on my casio watch, very badly engineered links. Had no trouble on Seiko.
Thank you , very helpful video. On my bracelet, which is to big for me, I can see an arrow on three links either side of the clasp but cannot see a hole to insert the tool, so I am still unsure what to do. Have you any suggestion?
Hmm send me a pic to andersfromfinland@gmail.com and I’ll see🤓 or send a pic via Instagram DM @nordicwatchchannel
Stubborn screws removed ty sir
My pleasure mate!
What if the folded link bracelet does not have the little part at the top that your force open? Can you tap from the bottom to remove the part?
Cricket Truax Hi! Hmm interesting question.. if you are sure that the pin is exposed on both sides then I’d say go for it. Now watching this video (since the watch is no longer with me) I can’t get a good look at the other side of the bracelet. I think the pins on this one don’t go all the say through. I’ll get another chance to have a look in a few months.. what watch bracelet are you sizing up? That might help me to answer :)
@@NordicWatchChannelinterested in this one for the snxs79 bracelet. seems like it’s similar to the watch bracelet you featured in the video. i need to take some links off from one side and add more to the other so i can relocate the clasp
After I removed the L shaped metal, I cannot take out my link. Because there's no pin sort of thing that connects them together.
Its like they're stuck together.
Do you have any idea what might be the solution?
At least this model I show on the video has kind of hooks that hold the links somewhat together. Try pushing the links toward each other and then lifting one away.
@@NordicWatchChannel I tried doing that but it didn't work.
I got impatient so I twisted it a little and surprisingly, it came off.
I readjusted my band.
Thank you for the help though!
@@alemjamir3553 Ok, glad to hear it all worked out! :)
My strap doesn't have the notches to slide the tool in and I can't find any info on it anywhere, I'm just going to return the watch and get a refund
What watch model do you have? Most bracelets don’t have this system!
I hate all bracelets on any watch i have personally owned, from a $2k plus Monta down to this stupid Casio A1000 on a metal bracelet I've been trying to size forever. I followed the instructions here exactly and the damn links wont budge. I'm just going to throw this thing back in the drawer.
Bummed to hear that! Not familiar with that Casio model, are you sure it has the same mechanism as this bracelet?
I can't even get the watch off the bracelet. 😑
I recommend a spring bar tool! Then all you need is some calm nerves :)
Why do all you people take 1 and another, just take the damn two links out in one go, and instead of repeating every other ytuber, you do it properly.
Oh you mean 1 from each side? If you take all of the links from the same side, the clasp will end up being on the side of your wrist in stead of being under it..
@@NordicWatchChannel No, a lot have at least an extra 2 links on one side,And fine tune at the clasp, i know what you mean.
That's true. The "6 o' clock" side has more links initially, and if you remove an odd number of links, the larger amount should be removed from that side. But let's say you remove 5 links or so, then you should definitely remove from both sides.
don't know how you get it out that easily my one is stuck wtf. this watch is shit
