    Tell me about your hero!

King Vicktor Valentien Von-Vanheim is a long (un)dead wight king who only communicates to his deathrattle legions via hand signals and sign languages. He serves the vampyre lord Marguerite Mortana without question or complaint, though she treats him with the contempt often given to a stray dog. What binds him to her service is unknown, what is known is that King Von-Vanheim has spoken no words in the last few thousand years, save for those three he speaks to his master, only spoken to her when she gives him an order. These are the only words he ever speaks any more, and they are always the same regardless of what she tells him to do; "As you wish."

Something I wrote up as a “What Sounds Intriguing?”-premise, like all of the armies that I don’t have the money to run (😢) but hope to one day play/paint! Model-wise and in terms of mechanics, the character’s a Crypt Infernal who simply doesn’t have the noxious breath, yet in her backstory she’s not simply because a Crypt Infernal wouldn’t be able to experience what she does, the Delusion being so powerful at that stage.
Born within Hysh, Idée SheelTar had been a frightened scholar so very long ago, and the terror of what she’d seen out in the Mortal Realms had pushed her into a life nobody deserved. Intellectuals like herself were far from able to face the Beasts of Chaos, the Ogor Mawtribes, Orruk WAAAAAAAGH!s and Chaos war bands. She’d lived a pleasant life, safe from the dangers of all of this, and her departure from Hysh where she assumed everything was safe had left her desperate and afraid in the face of everything around her.
A frightened bookworm, starving and hungry when separated from all that she’d known, her life was saved yet twisted by a branch of the Morgaunt Flesh Eater Grand Court. Unlike other members of this court, however, would she explore the depths of the delusion. Sheltered in libraries for so long, she’d long since learned to explore her own thoughts, and thus the thoughts within the delusion.
These noble vestiges she saw were examined, learned over, discussed over with her fellows. While her saviors had certainly a short fuse when it came to how inquisitive she was, never once were they cruel, simply tired from the constant defending of their lands. Thus would she explore further, document all she knew in books that she kept on her person. Eventually, however, did she cease to ask questions about the land and its people to instead ask how to repay her saviors for all they’d allowed her to see and learn. With this did her inquiries seemingly cease, no longer aching the mind of her superiors yet no less was she buried within the delusion.
For years she dutifully served as a mathematician, as a scholar and as a bureaucrat for those who’d saved her. She found ways to make their losses fewer and their gains higher, turning every battle to defend their land from a fight for their lives into a simple matter of waiting and watching opponents! She was moving up through the ranks, becoming a prestigious member of it all, until someone she knew arrived where they shouldn’t have been. All of that upward momentum, all of that ascension, dashed by a simple firing of synapses at the presence of a face from her past.
Her father, a cartographer, had found his way into the wilderness where her court had found refuge and comfort. Taking a rest awhile, his camp setup in the territory of her court, he’d died and been brought back to the lair by a simple commoner. She recognized the dead body, she recognized the attire and the equipment. Like that had she lost her nobility and friends, surrounded by slavering lunatics who snarled out their wants for her flesh. A crypt flayer of importance and essentiality, she’d grown healthy and fat on the fruits of her labor as a guiding hand within the court. Thus, when she fled did she spread her wings and fly, fearful yet filled with foreign vigor.
Into the distant wilderness she flew, aware now of what she’d done, of what she’d become, of what she was…and it sent her spiraling. A new madness set in. An obsession with what she was, and it began subtly, for her mind was scholarly and she had in her a desensitization to all she’d been doing. Lucid though she was, the taint of madness was incurable, meaning she never would know morality or sanity as she once did.
Study, research and observation of herself became all she partook in. When she grew too conscious of her existence, she pursued sustenance in the flesh of beasts yet found it unsatisfying. Wild animals were nutritious yet they lacked something, something that simply couldn’t be found in the wilderness: sentience. That all changed when she discovered the Beasts of Chaos within Hysh, her realm of origin and the place she’d returned to to study herself in relative safety.
Chaos’s taint lay within her realm, it sought to corrupt her home of enlightenment and beauty. She wouldn’t stand for that! She wouldn’t allow it! She refused to let her home be destroyed by abominations worse than herself. This was where her delusion manifested itself for, while not a Ghoul King, let alone an Abhorrent, she was still a large piece of the delusion from her court and she had taken and twisted that madness in her own way.
She didn’t see a hero in herself, nor a noblewoman of prestige. No, she saw only an abomination, and all abominations needed to be slayed. She would be the monster than killed monsters! She would *become* the hero, and she’d do that one Beastman at a time! From the skies she’d dive, snatching them like fish from water in the talons of an eagle, first with the Ungors, then the Gors, next the Bestigors, Centigors were a favorite next to Bullgors…but the greatest prizes she would devour were the living war engines known as Ghorgons, Cygors, Gargants, and Dragon Ogors.
These, however, demanded sacrifice she wouldn’t risk in herself. These demanded flesh of those who would throw themselves into the fray for no other reason than they could. These demanded things like the Mordants she once supervised! As a result did her madness grow a new facet: disturbed pragmatism! While at first she wished for violent criminals, reality soon sank in how implausible it would be to garner those under her sway…and so she would simply lay in wait within small towns and villages, with little gifts left for those who’d not be missed or for all who dwelled within the civilized territory. Offerings of food imbued with the sickness that plagued the mind, the sickness that said her malformation wasn’t to be turned away but to be embraced as a new purpose!
Men, women and children would all turned before the Brayherds arrived. Towns and villages emptied of humans to defend against the Beastly Scourge! Idée the Heromaker was creating a name for herself as an abomination that hunted abominations, corrupting towns and villages to slay her foes. She was no hero, merely the enemy of Chaotic beasts and monsters. This was a madwoman who’d lost her identity in the delusion, simply becoming a useful pawn on the board for Nagash who could always use more servants of Death.

You don't need to necessarily be someone who takes on the elements of your realm.
In my story, my general was an idealistic free people's general in Ulgu who was sent, unbeknownst to him, on a suicide mission as part of a plot to get rid of him by his kingdom. On the day of the battle that would have seen him betrayed by a few of his own soldiers, he found a strange brass amulet which exuded power. This amulet also hated magic, illusion and deception. With it, he managed to see into the hearts those who would betray him and slew them.
He hated this deception and lies and he rallied the rest of his army and marched it back to his kingdom, but with the intent to raze it to the ground. Of course, he managed to do so and now leads a Khornate warband in Ulgu which is dedicated to the philosophy of opposing lies, tricks and deception. The antithesis of the realm. He wants to bring as much raw violence into the realm as possible to transform it into a mirror of the Blood God's realm as Khorne is the God which is most direct and most hateful of tricks.
For his personality and entourage, he surrounds himself with priests and sadists, men who do not care for the politics of leading a Khornate warband but rather the pursuit of corrupting the land and souls of men.

This is why I love the new realm rules. Lets me paint up a Swifthawk Army in the Nighthaunt style and say they’re from Shyish and were corrupted by a “wraith plague” during the necroquake. Just swap some heads with Skeleton heads.

Vylus Bloatbelly is my Nurgle Sorcerer Lord, and while he's not my general on the battlefield, he helps bind the army together. He's sort of going about doing Nurgle's "Housekeeping", collecting different tribes and warrior orders that are stranded or trapped in different ways, and persuading them to take a more active role in the war against Order. Love having a story in the back of my mind!

Personally my hero is a Treelord who was in command of a tree grove in shyish. He had spent decades trying to bring life to shyish and had been regrown their many times along with all his servants. After getting the call from Ghyran he tried to head the call but was unable to as he was trapped in shyish at this point. Years later he finally managed to get his grove to leave with the coming of the sacrosanct chamber. By this time he and his grove has been badly turned by shyish instead of being green and brown they are black and very dead looking. (Looking for criticism as I do need more ideas lol.)

The Ultimate background story is already out there! This story is proberbly the predecessor for all future background stories that will come.
I ofcourse refer the the epic tale and lore of the Master of all himself:
Tamurkhan, known also as the Maggot Lord, the Son of the Great Kurgan, Master of Hosts, Bringer of Desolation and the Favored of Nurgle!
I will ofc remind all doubters that, Nagash, archaon and even Sigmar have never stod toe to toe with nurgles favored. Why?
They knew the outcome would not Fall in their favour. Its only sheer luck that the Maggot lord has not turned his eyes on their part of the realms........ yet!

Question: Does any relics of the Old World remain, any texts or myths? I am kind of toying with the idea of making an isolationst free pepole army that revere the mysterius legend of Karl Franz as their true savoir rather then Sigmar.

    • @2Tough
      @2Tough  Před 5 lety +2

They absolutely do! several pieces of the old world exist,, the big magic tree of the wood elves exists in Ghyran, ancient texts abound in arcane libraries and weapons from the old world some times make an appearance.... not the mention that whenever a book has a god (old world character) reflecting on their lives, they make direct references to the Old World. :) Its all still there, but shrouded in mystery as history turned to myth.. and myth turned to legend

Appreciate the video and suggestions Doug. I play Ironjawz and have an ongoing story blog on the Destruction Forums on TGA, Da Bloodbreaka Clan. Megaboss Gorfang da Immortal leads the clan. He is a former prisoner of the Legion of Azgorh who was forced to fight in slave regiments for their armies, but he endured, prospered in battle and eventually overthrew his taskmasters. Much of the clan big 'uns (or veterans) remember their time as slaves and have a particular hatred for all things Chaos and Stunties. Many still carry scars from their enslavement, including Brute Boss Zodgrob, who is dumb as a boar, but brutally brutal when it comes to fighting. He is usually the target of much of Gorfang's ire, but knows he is an effective lad at rousing the boyz for battle.
There's also the kunnin' Ugly Bogg who hopes to one day to best Gorfang to become the Megaboss. His victories and achievements, however, are overshadowed by Zodgrob's stupid luck, as well as his terrible facial deformity that was bestowed upon him by the Chaos Dwarf taskmasters. Dubbed ugliest orruk in the mortal realms, the indignity has made Ugly Bogg resentful and jealous.
Dradruzak was an Ardboy who became the first proper orruk to become an Ironjawz after many victories. On the tabletop, he was my Ardboyz Boss and he did work. He held a stegadon in combat for three turns, killed many aelfs and chaos worshippers, as well as control critical objectives to get my army the win. After a while, I updated his story to become a Brute Boss after his unit was so successful on the table. Perhaps he has the gift (or dice luck) of Gorkamorka
My Gore Grunta Bosses, Korkrok Steelspitta and Ruglid da Black, have a butting rivalry of who can loot more stuff on their raids and get into the squishy parts of the enemy the best. Ruglid's story was based off a tournament I went to where I said an expedition went into the Realm of Death to loot some stuff and they recruited Ruglid. His skin is painted dark gray because rumors claim he survived an encounter with Nagash himself after the God of Death failed to kill him with Hand of Dust
You can find more on the characters, their stories and maps that I have made for my realm here: www.tga.community/forums/topic/8279-da-bloodbreaka-clan/

In addition to Stormcast, I want to get into playing a Khorne/Slaves to Darkness army led by two princes raised in Hysh, but descended from immigrants from Aqshy. This sort of combines the haughty arrogance of the Realm of Light with the destructive impulse from the Realm of Fire. They were the heirs to a modest holding and often attended many gatherings of the elites and both fell for a silver-haired priestess of Sigmar (who's now the Lord-Arcanum of my Sacrosanct Chamber). Each tried to impress her and win her love for good--one with martial prowess, the other with unparalleled magical ability. But then the Hosts of Slaanesh attacked. The woman they loved was stolen away and this drove the princes mad with rage. This is when Khorne reached out to them. They were each powerful warriors in their own right, but now they could be even more effective, driven by the memory of the failure. The two accepted the bargain, using their new power to drive Khorne's enemies from their territory, but their newfound bloodlust drove them far from their home. Throughout the Age of Chaos and Age of Sigmar they searched all across the Realms for their lost love (who eventually escaped to Ghyran before being zapped up by Sigmar), but now it seems, they're love has returned more radiant than ever however Chaos has perverted their desire and now the Mighty Lord of Khorne and Chaos Sorcerer vie for the right to take her skull...
The tribalistic structure of the traditional Khorne warband really didn't appeal to me, but I couldn't resist the desire to play such and overly aggressive and melee-focused army (it really gets by blood boiling). While the Path of Skulls and Khorgus Khul are cool and all, I wanted to add something more than just "these guys just kill things 'cause Chaos". There never really seemed to be corruption of nobles in any of the Chaos forces, even though Slaves to Darkness has a lot of cool knight-looking models. I was actually quite inspired by Doug's own "clean" Slaves to Darkness army and that led me to making a Chaos force from a noble house. As far as coloring, I want to do a nice black, silver, and red color scheme. I wanted to have magic with a Khorne force too so that's where allying in Slaves to Darkness with their Sorcerer leader will come into play. They could work together to crush Order or fight each other over a particularly nice skull. I think it'll be cool, although I'm unsure of how to really get a good blend of models from Slaves to Darkness and Khorne Bloodbound. Haven't really thought up a distinct force make-up.

My most narrative rich army, Nurgle's Rotborne Horde:
A cabal of Nurgle's mortal sorcerers, lead by the Great Unclean One, Poxus, and under the secret influence of Rotigus, gathers in Ghyran. Their goal: corrupt the Realm with an unstoppable torrent of filth which would come to be known as the BLIGHTSTORM...
Patrick Vilhandsson had spent his life as a farmer; working the fields and reaping the bountiful harvests that Ghyran provides his village. As he sowed this year's seeds, something greater was growing elsewhere. The winds of the Blightstorm hit his village before any other, and the residents quickly fell into terrible sickness. He himself fell into a deep slumber, such that those collecting bodies thought even Patrick was dead. When he awoke buried in the rotting corpse pile, he screamed out to Allarielle with no answer, then turned to Nurgle in desperation, and the filth flowed into his lungs. For 7 hours, he struggled to escape, the disease having sapped his strength. Just as his hand broke into the free air, a plagued steed pulled him the rest of the way out. This was his sign; he had been saved in order to serve as the storm's Harbinger. Nurgle further blessed him with a new name: Pandemux Rotborne...
The Rotborne collected his harvester's scythe -infusing it with the plague father's magics- and continued on to the next village hit by the storm. There he met twin brothers who had been blessed in the same manner. The larger, dimwitted of the two had been transformed into a rather portly Lord of Plagues named Odorus, skin tinted the same green as Nurgle's daemon followers. Meanwhile the lesser but more intelligent brother now named Buboniak was given knowledge of foul magic. With his new lieutenants in tow, Pandemux continued to grow his horde from the squall's survivors, sacking villages upon the first winds of the Blightstorm. As the storm's power grew, so too did theirs. His sorcerer summoned forth a daemon horde to aid them, led by none other than Epidemius, Nurgle's chosen Tallyman. Eventually, even Poxus the Undying -the Great Unclean One which sent the plague steed- joined him as well. The Rotborne's Horde continues to move throughout Ghyran, heralding the storm and sowing the Grandfather's gifts....
Under the torrent of the Blightstorm, war is fought for control of the four Verdant Gates. A cult of Tzeentch's annoying daemons, as well as a fledgeling WAAAGH! reinforced by Fyreslayer mercenaries descended upon one of the gates that Poxus had his eyes on. The Great Unclean One dispatches a contingent of Pandemux's forces to take control of it. Allying with the shifty daemons and lead by the Rotborne's Chosen guard, they plowed their way to the gate through armored and savage Orruks alike. The slayers tunneled their way into the fray, but even the power of their fallen god couldn't save them from becoming fertilizer for the Grandfather's boundless garden.
One fateful night, the Blood God himself attempted to stand in his brother's way. A trio of Khorne's towers rose above a snowy waste, and as the Heralds of the Blightstorm marched upon this territory, the Blood God sent his daemon vanguard to challenge them. The stampede and cannons hammered into Buboniak's Soul Grinder faster than Poxus could heal it, and more Bloodcrushers flanked through a realmgate to eliminate Epidemius. Even Pandemux was downed by further cannon fire. The injury of his son angered Poxus, carrying him directly into the enemy Skullmaster, slaying him under the great mass. Without their leader, the energy sustaining the blood daemons began to waiver. The horde held the line, and were inspired by their benefactor's charge. Bloodcrushers began to fall around them, failing to damage Nurgle's warriors and plaguebearers. By the end of the battle, the blood god's daemons had all dissipated, leaving the frozen plain to be converted by the storm into more garden.
As Pandemux recovers from his wounds with aid from his adoptive father, Buboniak is sent to negotiate. While meeting with representatives from Clan Pestilens and some of Grandfather's other children, Sigmar's puppets interrupted and slaughtered the other emissaries. Buboniak fled with his surviving warriors to rejoin the Horde. After licking their wounds, the Heralds of the Blightstorm got their revenge against Sigmar's damned puppets (albeit from a different Chamber). With the aid of Bloab Rotspawned, Pandemux's followers toppled these silver statues, and claimed another Realmgate for their patron as the storm graced the earth with its foul waters.
Poxus and Epidemius are called back to the Garden for greater things, and in their place send a Poxbringer to aid the Rotborne Horde.
    *The Dread Solstice*
Buboniak is woken from his slumber one night by a horrifying vision of the Blightstorm running dry and the boundless garden withering to dust. In his banishment at the blades of a skeletal wave, Rotigus Rainfather psychically sent out a call for aid to all of Nurgle's children. Following his lieutenant's plea, Pandemux Rotborne led his followers into Shyish, determined to aid his fellow worshipers in their quest to avenge the Rainfather, bring life to that barren realm, and sow chaos among those watching the Portents. He was certain that his sorcerers could lead the Blightstorm through the Realmgate. However, Nagash's legion was ready to intercept them, controlled by one of his chosen Vampire Lords on a mighty undead dragon. As stars fell from the sky, the Rotborne Horde crushed countless zombies and skeletal warriors, and Pandemux himself slew the damned vampire. The enemy can't seize a victory if there are none left standing...
*The time altering weapon is fired...*
While venturing through Shyish, Pandemux's followers were stopped in their quest by a subclan of the Great Horned Rat's tech fanatics. This clan believed that the Black Void that had been siphoning time away from the realms is the same void in which Skavenblight lies. Therefore, they think it can only benefit them, and so seek to stop anyone that would try to preserve time. The skaven warp weapons tore through the Rotborne Horde, slaying numerous warriors. Pandemux was able to escape and rally his survivors, but only barely...
    *Dread Solstice concludes*
After the successful interruption of the Death God's plans, Pandemux leads his followers back home to Ghyran. However, along the way they are intercepted by the Everchosen himself, along with a contingent of his Tzeentchian followers. The two generals entered into a "friendly" wager. A battle would be fought in that valley. Should Archaon's forces prove victorious, the Rotborne Horde would answer his call whenever and wherever needed. If Pandemux could survive long enough, he would earn Archaon's respect as a leader, and only be called upon within their home realm of Ghyran itself...
Resisting the Grand Marshall's strikes, Pandemux humbly claims his victory and returns home. There he rests and rebuilds his clan after the losses sustained in the Realm of Death...
My Tzeentchian cult's lore is more bare-bones currently. Haven't fleshed it out much beyond the characters.
Pyrofane's Ember, a young splinter cult that broke off after the greater Pyrofane Cult revealed themselves in a city and failed to seize it. The cult's cabal is composed of four great sorcerers and a mighty Chaos Lord. The Tzaangor Shaman Avios directs the bestial members of the cult as well as their Mutalith. The Curseling Zygarr the Seer and Phyr'tok, a Lord from Manticoria, command their mortal warriors in battle. The Magister, Abraxes, recruits and leads the hidden Kairic Acolytes in the port city of Karak Zankor in Chamon. And the daemon prince Vrarken the Evershifting advises the other leaders, and sustains their daemons in battle. They also occasionally host a Gaunt Summoner, who is known to them as Vul'grim.
Finally, my Khorne army. I've only come up with basic lore for one hero, and a name+guards for the other.
Kheraine Bloodhelm. Favored amongst all Slaughterpriests, Khorne has blessed him with a bronze helm which constantly bleeds from its Skull Rune, fueling Kheraine's rituals and prayers.
Rathgar, Bloodsecrator. Ever accompanied by his Bloodreavers, known as Rathgar's Fanatics.

The Nurgle one is so fleshed out because I started writing it for a Narrative charity event we did based around the BLIGHTSTORM, as we were raising money post-hurricane Harvey. Given the event narrative, I figured someone had to play as Nurgle and I ended up being the only one. I had so much fun I played only my nurgle army for the following 8-ish months, continuing to use my battles to fuel the narrative. I ended up dropping the Lord of Plagues after the first battle when he didn't do anything, but am absolutely planning on bringing him back once I return to the army (currently playing my Khorne, emphasis on daemons in a Blood Host)
The city I mentioned in my Tzeentch army I wrote for a larger story I'm working on. It is a city for all the free races, but started from a Duardin mining town (my wife started with Dwarfs/now Dispossessed). The city is built above a vast natural cave in a cliff face on the coast of an island continent (which I also have a lot of world building for, working on a map). Within the mine, now the Undercity, the region's Fyreslayers (the Glimmerfyrd Lodge) have an enclave for mercenary work and run a gladiatorial arena known as The Kyln. The Overcity is is divided into districts. Along the coast are docks used by the Scourge Privateers, who provide naval transport. In the industrial district is an Airdock, utilized by the Kharadron Overlords to provide the city with a more expensive but faster transport option, as well as where the Ironweld defenders park their Gyros. In the center of town is the Innercity, the seat of government. The council is made up of representatives from each of the city's races and guilds. The Innercity is also home to the Arcane College and Engineer's Guild. Few Stormcast are present in the city, as most citizens simply do not trust them. There is even a guild hall for monster, beast, and witch hunters known as the Hunter's Respite.

This was awesome! I’m about to start a Path to Glory campaign and a Kill Team campaign, so these tips are perfect for me right now

I just started a deathrattle army my story show for is that a town was getting attacked by skaven but when they as for help from local town or the stormcast they refuse to help because choas was attacked other places, the town mayor in his desperate got in contact with a necromancer and made a deal that evertime one of the villages died he may bring his back to life to defend the town for choas and after the battle nagash seeing this let the town live but evertime any dies they will always come back to defend their town but the mayor must kill him self to seal the deal. I have picked any name yet and the mayor will be my wight king and sorry for any spelling mistake or grammar mistakes

I have a khorne army, and want to make a character, and as a +, I have mixed some ogres and DofK into the army, I have few ideas about my general and some under him, also thinking of mixing some new things into a khorne army, maybe some archers or more magical kind...
What do you think about that 2+T
    ?

Does anyone know the name of the shyish subrealm that focuses on honoring ancestors. I remember reading about it but cant find the fluff since then.

A question: For customizing a leader in my Stormcast army, I got a named character (Asteria Solbright) and her unique skills are tied to a different Stormhost. How would I make the Warscroll work for my custom army as far as keywords? Is it kosher to rename named characters?

Kenzie McKeever I think you would just have to paint her in what colors you want but use the core of the different chamber... because well you can’t really do what your asking.
