    The manual knob is interactive with the width knob. Try it with the width turned down

      @@jjthomchickmusic I thought chorus was my favorite effect but it's been a subtle flanger this entire time that I've been hearing on records. Such a versatile effect!

    Thanks Bro. This is the most honest review I've seen yet. Looking between this and an Electric Mistress Stereo.

    Nice down in a hole riffing!

    OK, when you are playing "Unchained"... how do you get the flanger to alternate between ascending and descending in each series of "chugs"? I've watched many videos on this and NO ONE has ever explained it!

      @jjthomchickmusic  Před 9 měsíci

      Hmm, I honestly never thought about that. I don't know, but if I had to guess I'd say the flange is continuous even when the pedal isn't engaged, and the tempo of the song just happens to line up with the change in direction.

    Great review! Have you ever tried to replicate the EVH button tone manually with the knobs, to see where they would need to be set for his settings? Thanks!

    • @jjthomchickmusic
      @jjthomchickmusic  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks! Yes, EVH button settings are something like:
      Manual: 3 o'clock
      Width: 3 o'clock
      Speed: 8-9 o'clock
      Regen: 3+ o'clock
      So you can basically have 2 sounds set, dial one in yourself, then press the EVH button when you want. If you're in your bedroom playing in your socks you might be able to hit it with your toe, haha.

    There seems to be a common problem with these where the speed control does not function and the unit is stuck in fast speed setting. the EVH preset seems to work perfectly fine otherwise. If you want to use your own settings and your speed control does not function you'll have to get it repaired. BS that MXR is charging for this repair since it is a well know defect of this pedal.

    Hi. So this flanger can simulate the chorus and phaser sounds too ? Thanks.

    • @jjthomchickmusic
      @jjthomchickmusic  Před 2 lety

      Yes, if you turn off the feedback it essentially becomes a chorus.

    for the money ........Id rather have an Mxr phase 90 or even phase 101

      @jjthomchickmusic  Před 3 lety +2

      I have a phase 90 as well, absolutely love it! Definitely another essential part of Eddie's tone, and yes, much cheaper.

      @@jjthomchickmusic i considerd getting this pedal in the video, then realized id be paying nearly $100.00 for the cool design

      @@97warlock Well, the MXR M-117R is $169, and the EVH is $189, so you'd be paying $20 more for the cool design and EVH button. The Boss flanger is a comparable price, but TC Electronic is cheaper. I'm a huge fan of Eddie and just had to have the stripes.

      It's not cheap, but I'm not sure where it's 250.00... most places it's $190 USD.
