Bravo dude. This is why you’re going places. Fantastic perspective and angle to take on this.
I’ll be the first to agree, I did paint a grim picture. Frustration? A bit. Realistic outlook? Let’s just say it was a mix of emotions and was sick of keeping it all pent up inside of me.
I wanted to start a conversation. Have people think critically and find a good way to move forward. You’ve been able to do just that.
My research was focused on the downward trend of views overall because less and less subscribers were watching every video, whereas one or two would have far more of a splash and chance for long term success based off initial viewings. You’re right, no one really knows what’s going on in the algorithm, but I’d also argue that if you can hit it big with a viral video, it completely throws all stats out the window. Maybe firing off a ton of videos gives the best chance for that, but if you don’t get a viral hit out of all the videos, it begins a downward spiral...
Oh and side note, the blacklisted thing was meant to say ‘feels like a form of unintended blacklisted by a robot’ not some dude at CZcams HQ who has it out for small channels in particular, more of a victim of circumstance.
GREAT video man. Seriously. Much love, SK.

Amazing points made in this video SK! I myself in the past month have gotten over 35 subscribers doing what I like to do. I definitely agree that January was a good month for our channels.
I also noticed that when I was posting every day, My videos were at the top of the youtube page.
Great video, I hope you get to 10k in the next few months.

Great video. I see both sides of the story from both yourself and JT. Make what you want but focus and similar topics more often can help. Jumping from PS2 news then to Switch news is polar opposites of one or another community (the ps2 community or Switch’s community) but by creating a playlist or making a few videos on both will sometimes entice one group to see the others perspective. But by doing PS2, Switch, PS4, PC news your spreading yourself thin to many communities. Niche down is the key I believe.

Well done SK! On my channel, I do what I want when I want. That is the beauty of CZcams, you set your own rules (aside from the guidelines lol) and make videos that you are passionate about. WHile i do agree with a lot of points JT made, i agree with you that you should keep pumping out content IF that is what you want to do on a daily basis. A lot of youtubers grind for years like you said, it is a marathon not a sprint. Keep up the great videos and Smash JT keep doing what you are doing!

I think it boils down to perspective and where you want to go as a channel. If you're doing this in hopes of making some real money then the sluggish pace might be discouraging. I gained 30 subs last week which was more than the past few months.

Different hustles work for different folks and at different levels. I feel like the news cycles can bring in a lot of views and subs for new channels, but that the intake plateaus very low if you're not bringing a very unique perspective or a unique level of quality or style of presentation etc.
You really have to add in something extra to show why you're the source people should click on in their sub-feed, otherwise you end up blending in with everybody else and falling behind those who do have the above listed qualities.
So I think the formula you described works for early gains, but that it might not be sustainable if there isn't something extra there later. Its a good way to start, but I feel an evolution will be necessary to keep growth going past a certain point.

Post don't post.. I don't think the amount of videos really has anything to do with the Magic Algorithm, its all in what is they think is trending and what they think people will want to see, I know for me personally it is completely off point.. there are never any suggested videos I watch or even want to see. show up in my feed. I think it is more about the key words that are used in the videos.
