    I always wanted a stylus phone for drawing and after seeing this review, I'm glad that I bought the 2020 version. I actually downgraded because of the size of my previous phone. Bigger is NOT ALWAYS better!

    As an audiophile who appreciates music with and without headphones, you have to realize many of us out there like to have the option listening to music thru our phones with or without heaphones.
    Sometimes the mood hits where we like listening to music without headphones.
    A single phone speaker AIN'T gonna cut it.
    I'm waiting for Moto to put back the dual speakers on their next generation model.

    The pop-out styluses tend to also pop out more easily if the phone is dropped. They're easier to get out but way easier to lose. Also, I found that little bit of extra length makes the phone top heavy when it's in the phone holder in the car and it falls out way too easy. I just switched from the LG Stylo line. The Stylo 5 and 6 are comparable in size to the 2020 and 2021 Moto G Styluses and the 5 had a stationary stylus vs the pop-out in the 6. Just bought the Moto G Stylus 2020 last week. It's definitely an upgrade from my LG...and it was $100 less than the 2021 version!! Plus, easier to use if you have small hands!

  • @lwray0311

    Great detailed review, but you forgot to mention the speakers & sound. 2020 has two dolby speakers. 2021 has only one general speaker, which is a major down grade that could be an important feature to consider for those who like streaming music, movies, & youtube videos. Also the action can has been removed from the 2021 model which is a great feature on the 2020 model. For those who are photo fanatics this could be a feature issue as well. In my personal opinion the 2020 model is still the winner with the better features people usually look for, because most are either streamers or music buffs. Gamers may like the bigger picture but they won't get the action packed sound. Other than the bigger size & slight speed difference which wouldn't be noticable, the 2020 model is still the best bang for less bucks sense the 2021 released.

      My biggest question that nobody talks about is the phone calls, how they sound, what about dropped calls? All the ifo on camera etc is great, but I want to know if the phone itself is good. I think it's ridiculous that we've gotten to a point where people review phones but don't even bother to discuss the quality of actual phone calls. Just purchased the 2020 version! Had an option between the two. I think they just wanted to accommodate the "large screen" nuts. In all 2021 is basically the same phone but with (dropped) features. Galaxy did the exact same thing from the Note 9 to Note 10+. Not a huge fan of the side finger print anyway. Because it's easy to trigger that by just carrying the phone..and very annoying! I'll stick with 2020 a while until they make "significant" proper upgrades than just huge screen. And split second processing doesn't convince me enough to move ahead. And Apple is the kings of misconception! They put out a phone and then next year they make it a hair faster with six added cameras. They get a lot of ppl that way! Over 90%! But newer doesn't always mean better. Glad I spent time with both phones at the store.

    Andre, this is a review that I am really interested in. I am thinking about getting rid of my Samsung Galaxy A51. If I do that, I want to get either the Motorola Moto G Stylus 2021 or the Motorola Moto G Stylus 2020.

    Sorry folks the stylus does not pop out...
    Let's be really clear about the stylus of the 2021 model. It does not retract or pop out from the phone and is still pulled. The back of the stylus is like that of a retractable ball point pen - they created a really clever illusion... It's a quality phone...

    • @elky1964
      @elky1964 Před 3 lety +2

      It partially "pops out" when pushed for easier access. Whereas 2020 variant requires it to be "pried out" before gaining access.

      @@elky1964 It does not pop out... Like I said... The head of the stylus is like that of a retractable ink pen and that part retracts approximately 3/16" from the stylus body when pressed (Like a retractable pen) and that is what you grab. If you have the phone like myself you would clearly know this - While the stylus is out side of the phone press its head down and it will retract down 3/16" - There is no retractable or push out mechanism in the phone Period... It is a well crafted illusion...

      Forgot to ask... If like a retractable pen mechanism what are your thoughts on durability? Does it seem OK or a wee bit flimsy you think? Does it come into play outside of phone, a hindrance, very noticable it's designed that way during stylus usage?

    • @1969tlchristy
      @1969tlchristy Před 3 lety +1

      @@elky1964 It is a stylus and is designed well like others from LG and Moto. The phone is a quality phone all around - feels great in the hand. It is slippery like ice if your hands are bone dry (winter hands). The Spigen case for it is excellent as this is a sleek phone, I do not see myself placing it in a bulky case. I have a BECPLT Note 20 holster for it and that is great as well. I am on T-Mobile and every feature of that carrier works out the box....

      Have never rocked a phone w/o a case and that goes for my flip-phone's owned waaaay back when LOL. Currently using the TUDIA DualShield on all three of my Moto's but being a case junkie also have several more, usually end up with at least 10 cases per device bare min heheh. And glad to hear I'm not the only one using holster's.
      Anyways glad to hear you're happy with and enjoying the G Stylus (2021).

    I am using Moto G Stylus (2021).
    The screen and overall size is perfect. Using the stylus with One Note as default has been a decent experience. The stylus is passive but sufficiently responsive to jot notes and simple sketches. There's enough RAM and internal memory to keep it responsive and easily move between apps. The built-in, minimalist Moto Actions (screenshots, gestures) are handy. The fingerprint sensor biometric placement on the power button is convenient and super reliable.
    Cameras are okay and have some nice effects including cinemagraph and background cutout.
    This is a great all around workhorse for everyday messaging, social media, and calling. Call quality is good, works with WiFi calling. Battery life has been adequate with one day+ for my usage patterns. Charging time seems on par with other fast charging phones.
    I use Mint Mobile service (t-mobile network) and activation was seamless. Everything works, including text messaging.
    This phone has been a win all around, especially with its attractive price point.

    I just bought the 2021. Still have the 20/20 although until I learned how to use it I was ready to shoot it. I bought the 2021 for what I personally think is a better camera as I do shoot some inflight videos with my airplane and also the extra storage space. I'm not a techie so the other stuff I guess I'm not up on but this did confirm that I think I have a little bit better phone. Still I'm not ready to trash the other one yet. I also like the bigger screen on the 2021. My wife seem to think the video was better and she made a comment it was a lot like watching a movie. Good information on this for someone who is not a technical food junkie so to speak. I'm almost 60 though I have flown some pretty fancy airplanes the one I have is back to basics.

The fact Motorola chose to launch their 2021 line w/Android 10 rather than 11. Usually one of the reasons for buying a successor "latest OS".
