Thank you!
Haven't watched it yet but as always good work, glad to fill my hrs up with informative ideas from intellectuals such as yourself and your guests
Thanks Lex. This podcast has saved my sanity, you’re seriously invaluable.
Very useful and instructive! Thank you
Lex, you seems very interested to the mortality question. Can you please do a interview with CGP Grey on that?
Manolis is the most concise explainer of abstract and complicated topics I've ever heard.
I imagine his classes were fun to take. He is able to twist this stuff into an edible form, and I agree with ya, it's amazing.
I agree
Andrew Huberman is exceptional as well
I wish I could have taken his class!
Absolutely agree. He reminds me of some of the gifted human cell culture researchers I've been fortunate to meet and have in depth conversations with working in the medical field. I think it comes down to being aware enough to understand what a reasonably intelligent layperson can grasp quickly to give a window into the perspective of an expert. Not a common thing!
Bring him every time you want. Manollis is simply amazingly inspiring
Plz do
Simply amazing
And he just did, again
"Don't get me started" - Manolis Kellis catchphrase
love it
Another great interview by Lex ‘that’s so fascinating’ Fridman
It strikes me how often the people who use that phrase are exactly the types of people you really _do_ want to get started :)
Me:*Sees 'Manolis Kellis: Round 3'
Also me: "Don't get me started!"
Lex please round 4 5 6 7... i can listen to this guy 4 ever
The first Monday of each month should be Manolis Monday on the Lex Friedman Podcast ❤
there should be a manolis playlist :D
One of my favorite parts -
Manolis: "So, you have a bowl of noodles"
Lex: "Go on..."
Manolis is really such a great communicator. I deeply envy his students!
On another note, great to see you outside of your comfort zone, Lex!
That's where all the growth is.
Agreed. Lex’s inflection at that moment was quite entertaining.
Started my PhD in Molecular Biology this month. I needed this. Thank you, Lex
Good luck bro!
Good luck man!
Cheers!
I started my PhD in Robotics and I‘m motivated by this as well!
I’m going back to study biomedical science. I love the idea of working with stem cells and helping develop stem cell based therapies
A podcast that you can't listen to in the background is the best kind of podcast. It's so rich in information. Love it!
indeed, i tried, its impossible, you need full attention!
What I love about Lex's podcasts is that such smart conversations are made for the audience. Manolis doesn't explain stuff to Lex, because many things he already knows, and they both know it. He explains to the audience. Lex doesn't ask some questions for him to understand, he may already know it, from own studies or from conversations outside the podcast. Lex wants the audience to know the answers. And for myself Lex is asking right questions at a right time. Just really great podcast.
I think you put the nail on the head for what makes Lex such an awesome conversation partner. He asks *exactly* what folks would be wondering at each moment. That, and his excitement about life, science, and everything. Truly a pleasure to be part of his awesome series of podcasts. :-)
@@ManolisKellis1 also, he doesn’t try to dumb down the concepts his guests convey. I appreciate that very much, even though I don’t know much of what you’re saying in this podcast, for example, but I’ll read up about it and educate myself.
gosh, I would love to hear a one hour in depth conversation about mitochondria!!
Hell yea! The last 2 times he's been on has been amazing
I said hell yeah out loud just before scrolling down during the intro and reading your comment xd
the way he breaks apart extremely complex concepts into simplistic steps is amazing.
I rarely comment on CZcams videos, but Manolis is such an inspiring guest. Keep the fun conversations coming.
I feel so amazed, enlightened and enjoyable every time I listen to Manolis' wisdom! Thank you!
This podcast could turn into the Lex and Manolis show and I'd be perfectly happy with that
Manolis is a fascinating personality. My favorite guest on your podcast
Manolis' CZcams channel has the complete video of two of his computational biology courses . What a gift! He has a great way to explain super complex ideas in simple terms. Bravo!
I'm ready for 3 more conversations with Manolis. Incredible.
It’s like you read my mind Lex...I wanted Manolis to come back again. Thank you thank you
He is really good at making this stuff understandable
Every tenth Lex video has Manolis in it, We can expect next ''don't get me started explanation on #143''.
Don't forget... Lex is vital in our live for Manollis... Lex is half of this conversation.
So Lex, we want more of Manollis on Your podcast. Not just random talks from him.
You are complicit with our enjoyment here, so thank you too!
Not speaking for anyone else, but my guess is more commenting here feel the same.
You, like Joe Rogan, have a gift for bringing out the best in people.
What?! Round III already?!?! It must be my Birthday 😱 what a gift! 🙏🏾
Please keep bringing him on as many times as you are able, this guy is incredible
One of my favorites back again! Thanks! 💛👊🏼
Did anyone else have to check whether you're not accidentally replaying the previous episode after Manolis' "don't get me started" opener? Love the guy
When you hear “Don’t get me started” you know it’s a good episode
How do your videos get dislikes? One of the most genuine channels out there and full of information. Keep it up Lex!!
Oh wow it's great that he did another podcast so soon. Last podcast was so enjoyable. He is so charming 😍
this was one of the most amazing interviews i have ever seen .. thanks Lex ... appreciate what you do ...
Hey Manolis, I just wanted to say thank you. Excellent exposition as always, and captivating.
I can't get enough of Manolos! Could literally listen to him speak for hours on end! Lex I have to say I particularly like your guests talking about the universe and all its mysteries, especially when I'm out hiking sleeping in the woods, I find a meadow where I can catch reception and listen to your podcast while gazing at the stars! What a bliss, all thanks to your work!
I love how Dr. Kellis breaks down these complex topics into easy explanations that we can understand. Thank you for the biblical content in your channel Dr. Fridman.
Loved listening to him the 2nd time, and will listen again!
Excellent guest, questions and conversation. Not like you need me to stoke your motivation, but keep going, Lex. You make knowledge sharing possible in a way few others are able to facilitate. There are no barriers aside from the curiosity of the individual listening.
Happy to see another conversation with Manolis! Thank you for everything you do Lex
Love this guy and your podcast, i appreciate you offering this content for free from the bottom of my heart, thank you Lex.
Such an informational podcast!
Lex, ive been a long time listener... this is hands down the BEST way to peculate real scientific research and ideas! DONT STOP KEEEEEEEEEP GOING !!!!
Manolis is one of my favorite guests on your podcast and one with who I find I share a fair degree of philosophical overlap. I am working on developing quantitative methods to tease out spatial structure/function relationships in the human oral microbiome. I use a model culture system simulating the human mouth and CLASI-FISH (combinatorial labeling and spectral imaging) to simultaneously visualize eight (or more) taxa. There have been so many excellent computational tools developed for learning all facets of genomes and how they are regulated. My goal is to adapt these tools for use in understanding 3D spatiotemporal relationships.
I love listening to Manolis. Every podcast with him makes me feel like I have learned something new 😃
One day maybe I can articulate as well as sleep deprived lex LOL. Thanks for all the work you do. Don’t get me started w Manolis. He is on another level and it’s a gift we get this education for free. Stay safe everyone
Can't get enough of this dude. He's a dope guest, bruh.
I really love that you had Professor Kellis on again. I really enjoy the content. Thank you so much.
Yes! More Manolis Kellis! I love this guy.
So good and I didn't even have to pay for a Masterclass subscription!! Thank you so much for these long-form talks. Amazing education every time.
Manolis is my favorite guest so far
This is why i keep scrolling the feed while listening to a pod cast. Sometimes you gotta drop everything and switch
Manolis Kellis is Amazing. Thanks for the podcast.
I love the conversations you two have! A great mix of knowledge, wisdom and humour, all the while being almost ASMR like lol. Both of your voices are very calm and soothing, it makes for a great listening experience. Thanks Lex!
I'll need to listen to this all over again in order to wrap my head around everything that was said
Great guy. Have to admit though, as an amateur, I wish you'd have some astronomy (not as in physics, as in telescopes) guy on your podcast one day that might be on a similarly engaged level. I wanna hear someone talk about advances and research in astronomy the way Manolis can talk genes.
Would love to see another conversation with Joshua Bach!
smartest human i ever listened to
Brilliant interview Lex. Thank you. I would love to know more about Manolis' software and application environment for integrating this research.
I'm imagining a world where everyone is as passionate and knowledgable about what they do as Manolis
This is the best jazz-jam I’ve heard since Miles.
What an incredible, insightful conversation. Love it. Thank you, Lex! I am so happy I found your channel.
Thank u Lex for all the hard work to keep us entertained and informed
Manolis Kellis & Joscha Bach are the two best and most fascinating guests, two absolute geniuses and they both clearly have a strong passion for learning and the work they do in their respective fields
I love your podcast. Manolis is my favorite guest of yours after a generous list of phenomenal guests. Thank you so much for having him on again and I think this needs to be a hard core habit. Please continue on, I'm always sincerely exciting to see that you've posted a new podcast. Cheers!
This conversation delighted me so much! A 35 year refresher and update to my molecular biology BSc. Manolis is truly a great science communicator!
Hello Lex & Manolis ....OMG #3!!!
You both are making wfh so enjoyable and meaningful
Keep up the amazing work, Lex! Can't wait to listen to this one. Though, I'm still yearning for the day it says "Andrej Karpathy" in my suggestions. Rock on!
Another fantastic guest and conversation!! Ty
OMFG this is a GOLDEN quality explanation of complex process to target and test minute CHANGES
The greatest conversation ever!
Best podcast on the web, Lex! Thanks for all your hard work! Love, from The UK
My favorite guest so far! Make him a a regular - a weekly with manolis - I would pay for that!
Please bring him again. At least once a month. Please please. I have listen to each of the previous 2 podcasts twice
Wow just continue interviewing this guy he is awesome
I appreciate the people you have on, and the subjects you discuss.
Whaaaat?! A 3rd one?? This is amazing!!!
I was overwhelmed my emotions, started to cry from his beautiful explaination of life.. Too good to be untrue.
Buy biology of campbell. Great book but difficult too
This interview is excellent, please encourage all your guests to bring laptops and reference material. I was going to jump in the shower but it is so good I'm going to sit here in my own filth and listen.
I think you've found your Duncan Trussell. Consistently great conversations, Kellis has such a beautiful view on the world and you know exactly how to pull the best out of him. Looking forwards to #4!
Best podcast/CZcams of the year, so far.
Didn't understand half of the podcast but love it!
fantastic, thank you both for a great episode.
This channel needs more Like Buttons...! I'm re-watching these shows over, and over again. Your'e a world-class interviewer, Lex! Keep at it, Brother!
Im here because ive been watching the professors deep learning for biology lectures online. I see he has 3 other appearances with Lex 🤘 Got my listening material for next few days.... im starting to love this guy!
I need this. Thank you.
Lex, please dont forget for automatic subtitle. So the people from other countries without native english could understand all easily.
The best Manolis that there is🤗 inspiring his comprations from afar!
So elevating to listen to him every time !
(PS. Dont over do it with many all nighters Lex! Sleep is important for the mind and body! )
Yep, Manolis is definitely your Duncan Trussell.
Agreed!!
This went in one ear and out the other and I loved it anyway
I think he is my favorite guest, If not the best definitely at the very top :)
Excellent as always and I liked your last notes....! Thanks
one of my favorite guests 😻
I love this! And so very pleased with the timing: on the 28th I received a distinction for my Master's degree in molecular pathology! Not to brag - I'm just so ecstatic about it, and the whole realm of molecular biology. Thank you for having this discussion and sharing it with us. It's a truly magical field!
Please invite Manolis for Round 4!! He is an exemplar of Scientific Communication (Scientifc Understanding and Optimal Communication).
1:24:50
Manolis:
*Creating mental image*
"So you have a bowl of noodles."
Lex:
*Blows air out his nose, now smiling*
"Go on..."
A crucial moment in the story between Lex & Manolis.
Thanks for the great content Lex! Would love to see Joscha Bach back on sometime soon
I love Manolis, most interesting podcast every time
Difficult for me to understand but I will listen just the same. Will have to listen again.
Awesome Lex!!! Keep on Keeping on!!!!
"what do mitochondria do?" -- me: "POWERHOUSE OF THE CELL!"
On a serious note, I can't explain how grateful I am for the interviews Lex provides, free of charge. Truly an incredible service to all.
The man's back!
Holy crap! This is soooo intense and this was 2 years ago - what is the current info in this regard??? Thank you for a great discussion
