Just got my Kobo Aura. If you live outside the US, the kobo aura is the best e-reader to get.

Is anyone still using this device? Can you use book covers as screensaver?

goodereader has a nice side-by-side comparison review done entirely in a dark room for this device. he basically shows that the lighting has far better range than competitors and kobos. the frontlight can be turned off, set very low, or set higher than any other device, plus the color isn't blueish which can be harsh in a dark room.

I'm waiting for the higher res screen of the Aura HD to make it's way into this product before I upgrade from my Kobo Glo.
But the flush screen is sure tempting! :)

I think the Nook Simple Touch was the first beautifully designed e-reader. I love my Nook ST with Glowlight. But I don't like the direction the newer Nook is taking.
When it's time for replacement, I'll likely get the Kobo Aura. That flush screen is SWEET!

Pocket integration alone moved this from "oh that's nice" to "Christmas list"

For a first e-reader would this be better than the all-new kindle paperwhite ?
    thanks!

I don’t recommend it. I have had nothing but trouble with my Kobo Aura. The only feature that works is buying books from the Kobo store. No other sources are recognized, in spite of what the advertising and owners manual say. Not libraries or other book stores. And the Kobo books are overpriced. The company is hard to contact, and once found, customer service is not helpful.

I would certainly say so. This device, while a bit more pricey, is a much better buy. the new display makes the device less bulky, which means reading is much easier. If you read PDFs, then this device's price tag will pay off really quickly.
