- We're so excited to reconnect with LEGO builder Jack Carleson at Bricks by the Bay to check out his massive 40,000+ brick Airbus A380 airliner. This minifigure-scale recreation of the world's largest passenger airliner is an engineering marvel: completely freestanding and equipped with motorized flaps as well as detailed LED lighting! Jack shares with us his build process and gives us a peek at this model's interior!

wrong channel but sure LOL
wonder if the flaps work
👈👈👈✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️😱😱😱😱😱😱
Ask him to make another one and the twin towers
Amazing. I’m so glad we live in a world where people get to do something like this and get to share it to an enthusiastic audience
You don't seem that melancholic, duck.
@@billypilgrim1 Maybe he said it sarcastically, through gritted teeth. (-:
@@chrisphobia the single tear beginning to roll through his cheek
@@billypilgrim1 lightly sobbing as he holds his hands together tightly. "This is it" he exhales
QUACK!!!
For now. If you're american it may not be for much longer!
NGL, eight year old me would totally have used that Lego plane for a Lego plane crash on the slopes of mount staircase.
It gives a whole new meaning to the words FLIGHT TEST!
Haha
LOL
🤣🤣
Hope you didn't have hardwood floors if the thing weighs 100 lbs. I'd be summary executed by my mom if I did that.
Awesome work, Jack!
.
hey it's beyond the brick
I was thinking of your interviews when watching this lol

Hi
That model is HUGE. Those massive wings made out of Lego not needing support is amazing. This guy is a genius.
Is he? In that case - why did he choose an airline that is owned by a Military Dictator?
@@angela1984a Do you thing he should choose American Airlines? It could be a good idea because of US just killed billions of people from Serbia, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan and so on.
@@angela1984a Emirates A380s are the most iconic ones, and they are the ones who mostly operate them.
@@vinceenzo3684 How is being owned by a Military Dictator that has kidnapped two of his own daughters "iconic" (You can google the part about his two daughters.) Answer: It isn't "iconic" in any way. It is in fact criminal in every democratic country.
Simply stating that Emirates has the most common A380s, which is why the guy used their liveries. (**You know nothing about aviation, so it's better if you keep your mouth shut.**)
Jack is a wonderful designer and builder. Loved following his builds over the years. So looking forward to seeing his VC-25 (B747), “Air Force 1” on display at the AF Museum at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH.
No way really??? I go there a lot I’m excited. Is it gonna be a permanent fixture?
do you know how long that will be there for? I visit Dayton about once a year and have been to the museum a couple times. Would love to go back there with that in mind
@@joedoerr6506 I think it is permanent. Once the museum receives a retired VC-25, then the model will be displayed with the VC-25.
What's so "wonderful" about choosing an airline that is owned by a Military Dictator that has kidnapped two of his own daughters?
That's impressive. I'd have no idea where to start with something like that. I hope Emirates sponsored this build.
I was going to say, if i was Emirates i would reach out to him asap.
@@drago7635 He actually got flown out to the Dubai EXPO for free. He wasn't sponsored though all made from the support of his CZcams channel BigPlanes.
@@dimetap First class?
@@ItaloBarbiero yeah i think the images are on his flickr
@@ItaloBarbiero they better have flown him first class!!
love to see Jack getting more recognition, he's an astonishing builder
He is so terribly clever & earnest. Such a nice young man.
Is he? If so - then why did he choose an airline that is owned by a Military Dictator?
As a man who will always love LEGO, (my personal speciality is MECHS and CARS.) THIS IS BREATHTAKING!!! A incredible marvel of engineering...
yeah I'm so confused how he got the wings to be so stable, that's really impressive!
The flaps killed me! that level of detail is absolutely insane
Those wings are beautiful, it doesn't even look like Legos anymore, it's amazing
Dude, the fact that these flaps actually work is insane. What a great build.
This is a nice reminder that humans do awesome things.
There's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for.
-J. R. R. Tolkien
This guy is some kind of genius. I wonder what his day job is? Structural engineer or something?
He's definitely an industrial engineer of some sort. Based off his other builds, my immediate guess is aerospace engineer
He's a college student studying Architecture.
@@dimetap Holy shit, how does he juggle school work with a hobby like this? Damned impressive
what make you think he has a job?
@@OptimusMonk01 because Legos are damn expensive
Airbus should buy a few of these for their office!
If this plane were also scaled weightwise, the model would only weight about 15lb! That tell you how light the real plane is in composite material!
This guy is so young and yet so talented. He must have an incredible amount of intelligence and creativity. Brilliant.
Jack’s channel is so awesome, his modern Air Force One (and Marine one) is in the Air Force museum in Dayton, Ohio.
Jack's Exciting vibes is so contagious, i literally nodded and goes "oooh! ya ya ya!" with his explanation.
its so fun to see someone that so passionately about what they doing and sharing it to the world!
good job Jack!
I could see moments where you sense Norm's surprise by the level of detail. Obviously, he did some research before the video, but meeting Jack in person must be like... Talking sound with Suzanne Ciani.
It's just so nice to see Norm get as excited over things as the project creators. It's just great to see people geek out over the details, the work and skill that goes into creating something. Kudos on the amazing build and thanks for the video tested crew!
I wouldnt be suprised if Emirates didnt come forward and offer buy this thing off him. It would be a cool thing to display!
I was thinking the same thing.
Or commission him to do a different one... possibly embossed with actual gold.
@@kyoko703 Legold
@@MeneTekelUpharsin 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is the coolest and most detailed mini-fig scale build I've ever seen, I'm absolutely floored with the attention to detail and quality of this build.
Emirates should give him an offer for this project and display it!
I used to be big into aviation and this is just incredible, absolutely mind blowing, the scale, the design, everything, I cannot express how incredible this is
Man I wish that I had even 1 percent of the creativity of this dude. Wow, just amazing, this guy is going to be able to write his own career path if he ends up in a professional vocation.
Lego’s truly have infinite possibilities. Which in my opinion is the greatest “toy” ever created
I love the cross-sections. I would really enjoy to see WW2 planes cross-sectioned in LEGO.
That would be cool but Lego generally avoids military things.
@@imperialspy3457 It's not Lego who makes it. People normally design it themselves.
@@MeneTekelUpharsin true.
He needs to add some speakers in the wings and pump realistic sounds from the airbus. Give it the feeling of the APU's running on the tarmac or the engines running.
Emirates needs to contact this guy and give some props, this is amazing!
I was thinking the same thing. If Emirates haven't seen this build, they need too......and give Jack a complimentary flight in one of their A380s.
Be cool if they bought the model off of him to place in their HQ.
The paper thing and estimating bricks was useful information. I never really knew how people even began to create large true to scale builds like this. Wish I had the budget and space to do something like this
This should be a Lego City Plane, I guarantee people would buy it
Compared to Lego people this is exactly to scale! Well done guys!
his whole explaination of every detail and process plannings just got more and more interesting through out the video. Amazing job, amazing.
attention to detail really makes this build shines, from internal furnishing, to making it look like an actual airline plane, amazing job!
That’s insane! From the lights, the ailerons and air brakes working, to the cross section and fully decorated interior 100/10
I will pay a frightening amount of money for this for a set
Wow. Amazing. Kudos to Jack.
The load bearing Lego piece are sweating from this impressive build!
F in chat to the landing gear
I met Jack last year at BrickFair Virginia, displaying his Air Force One MOC. It is an amazing MOC, and he’s a really nice guy.
Thanks for the interview Norm!
What a beautiful MOC! Besides, it's a Minifigure-Scale! Wow!
He said that part of the passion is making it for the public. I think that's a testament to a great builders attitude. Those type of people can sustain for long periods without burn out it seems. It's also a testament to his self esteem.
Oh man the lights, free-standing, scale, GLORIOUS!
I am so happy that he got to be featured on tested!
This Lego plane still has better build quality than a real Boeing
The A380 is an airbus
@@hedgehogchocolate8418 thats the point
THAT THING IS MASIVE
If LEGO made a commercial set from this it be more expensive than the original.
This deserves more attention
I will definitely buy that if it is released as a Lego product.
This is how lego should be! To the dame scale!
Jack's passion and attention to detail is awesome. Would love more updates from Tested on him.
The world of "Lego" is extremely lucky to have this kid!! That's a seriously talented individual, who's passion of bricks shows instantaneously!!!
Don't care about the rest of the video. For me the dog at 0:10 is freaking amazing.
The interior really makes this model. Easily the best I've seen in a while
I like this! Hearing what this platics engineer has to say about the process and how he textually understands lego and its limitations and builds around it. Cool hobby & beautiful art
I have flown on the A380, in real life. I think, that my multivers Lego self, would love your plane just as much, even with the tradeoffs :)
someone with a real hobby, good guy
Never thought I'd see him on here! I remember eagerly waiting for each update until it was complete throughout covid!
I'd build it in a heartbeat given the plans and access to the pieces!!!!!!
Good working on it, Boys
If a future employer would be so rude to demand a job interview, he could just bring this plane under is arm. Genius
Can imagine it's a fun community to be a part of
That is SUPER IMPRESSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!
What a dream build!!!!!!
Wow. Just, wow.
So cool. I'm grateful there's amazing people like this with brilliant minds. Thank you Jack!
I'd love to see a model of the An-225!
RIP, Myria.. Russians destroyed it.
Yes! the Dream would be awesome. Seeing the two together would be amazing.
Too soon lel.
As an aircraft mechanic I really appreciate this lego construction.
I am amazes with his building technic. He used olde school model aircraft ways to build it. Respect
The dude is talking very proudly about his creation and rightfully so, just awesome
So realistic it even has cracking.
Does it also fly? ✈️👀🤣 No but seriously tho, this LEGO build is freakin’ amazing! Great job
Maybe he'll branch out into SpaceX Starships.
It flies like a Brick 🤣
I wondered if it actually rolled on its wheels for transport.
It will fly once 😁
👈👈👈✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️😱😱😱😱😱😱
that is literally incredible, he is insanely smart
The creativity and engineering skills you need to do this is insane big props to him
Wow the wings tilt and the round shape is really impressive. I would have had to spend a decade trying to make that
Make a minifig scale A-10.
We need more Lego BBBBRRRRTTTT!
mindbogglingly cool and beautiful. Well done Jack
What a great tail. It all went to plane. A stowaway got Airbusted. I built a hospital with the right amount of bricks thanks to the red cross section.
Congrats Jack!
moving flaps and landing gears?
hell he's genius
The creativity of some people is just endless, so great to see these people showing off all their hard work
This masterpiece put lego to shame
my new all time favorite lego build! thank you for sharing!
Im so glad to hear that Emirates bought the plane for 450.000$ , now you can buy so much more lego
a winner!!!
I'm truly impressed with the fantastic job this guy did with Lego and the wirework and illumination to build the massive Airbus A380 airplane! Congratulations 👍👍👍👍👍
Im a aviation fan so im just here for the plane
You can feel on his voice how proud he is of his creation. Cool story
His planes just get bigger and bigger!
I bet he could make an amazing Nuclear Sub or International Space Station.
Dropping this would make everyone cry
An Amazing Lego video
I love the dog 3D pic in the intro! So many inspired choices of pieces and so expressive.
Extremely impressive definitely
Been following BigPlanes for a few years now. Awesome to see him and his work on this channel!
This man has a bright future in aerospace (in Lego land aerospace that is) very impressive
I WANT THAT AIRPLANE!
That's amazing! I can't even wrap my mind around such an idea that one kid could build such a complex plane
That's big planes!!! The CZcamsr!
Absolutely amazing !! I wish he told us how he does the markings.
LEGO is just the best. So happy to watch such amazing work like this. I would love to know how much something like this would cost parts wise.
High four digit to low five digit number I'd assume
according to first result on google, LEGO piece is like 11 cents on avg, this A380 is estimated to have ~40k pieces, so it will be around $4.5k parts only (+electronics; + some premium packaging if it was official LEGO set; + surely i forgot about something), so we are looking at $5-6k price tag for set :P
