Don't forget elements like the refuelling trucks, airport fire engines, baggage carts, luggage conveyor belts, etc. hoping this will help to 'fill out' the mostly empty taxi ways etc. But love the modern design of the terminal that you've gone for. Can't wait to see more!
As an aircraft tech, I really appreciate how the airport is coming together. Honestly I like how the airplanes are scaled to everything around it but when you stood back the terminal looked a bit small. An idea that you could add to the terminal, the catwalk from building to plane. I love watching the progression of the city and every edition that has come along. Thank you for these videos.
This was my thought too. I think the terminal needs a second floor, like most airport terminals. That way, the ground floor can be arrivals with a baggage reclamation belt, and the floor above can be departures with the boarding corridors out to the planes. I think this could be achieved by lifting up the existing structure and simply adding a storey below it (probably with vertical walls instead of sloped walls).
Maybe add mowing lines like on a footbalfield. 2 or 3 rows of pieces pointing one direction and the next 2 or 3 rows 180 degree opposit direction. Don’t know if it works, but worth a try!
Would like to see it "flattend" into a single direction aside the runway. And maybe turn the direction of wind/flattening around to make sense and add a little bit more spice to the build!
You know what could look great . . . If you have a helipad planned, have a helicopter landing, and use those little green claw pieces all to make it look like the wind is blowing the grass away from the landing/ taking off helicopter ( perhaps even including a motor to spin the rotors)
Here’s an idea! Maybe in the empty space in the airport, you could add some airport hangars or cargo to make it even more realistic since lots of airports have that! Love these updates!
I think that you should consider converting some portion of the flat green on the far side of the airport into some kind of swamp or wetland. You could add a lot of plants, birds, birders… even a couple of smugglers sneaking a package into a plane through a break in the airport fence. As a reference, take a look at Barcelona airport (BCN).
perhaps change your tone? "I think that you should consider" sounds like you are his teacher or referee. How about starting your comment with "Hey dude here is a cool idea..." instead.
honestly seeing the camera view from inside the terminal was amazing looking; looking out onto the tarmac and even onto the city was nice. It'd be cool to have small cameras hidden within some buildings hooked up to small screens above the city to give a life like view of the lego city and give people the feeling of looking through the eyes of the lego people.
I think a great addition to LEGO City is a traveling agency office of some sort where people can purchase tickets, make plans with traveling agents and such, and even add a shuttle that transports people from and to the airport. I know a lot of airports commonly have large parking lots for people to leave their personal vehicles, which might be an overkill for the size of this LEGO city but I think an 8-10 car lot close to the airport could make a nice addition. You could also a jet blast fence right at the end of the runway that is commonly present in some airports to deflect jet engine blasts. Furthermore, you could add a small area nearby for a heliport, maybe one or two helicopter landing pads. I know all that sounds really excessive but I hope there were some useful ideas.
For the airport, you could add a falconer and a hawk hunting for rabbits. They really exist and keep the runways secure for the airplanes to land and departure
When you are finished with the airport, you should consider building some industrial stuff like a refinery or a factory that isn't occupied by the mafia.
I would love to see a modern city like something similar to New York, I feel like the airport with the terminal is the most modern structure in the entire room.
Student pilot here. Love your work! Planes use their left hand doors for passenger boarding. Make sure you switch the door on the red tail plane to get an accurate representation! Also, from what I could see in the video, the service vehicle roads are very close to the aircraft noses. Due to space limitations I guess you cant really do anything about that but if you get a bigger space in the future, make sure you give a bit of clearance between the spot where the front wheel of aircraft stops in the gate and the service vehicle roads. Amazing stuff! Keep it up!
2 cool ideas for a more complete airport: 1) make the roof of the airport a view-deck with sky bar. Add furniture referring to airplanes. 2) paint airplanes in your background sky. Or make miniature real Lego planes like you faded away the mountain-landscape scale. Would be interesting to experiment!
I'm loving the way this is working out. I will say, what would be cool is adding some HVAC units or roof access hatches to break up those solar panels in the roof of the building.
Time goes by, but your lego City is still the best looking one on entire CZcams. It's composed so nicely with all of the details and stories told like the money laundry operation. There's no need to say that you have a passion for building with Lego, unlike other clout chasing youtubers whom just place free sets one next to another and call it a day. Can't wait to visit when your museum will be open. Book me an ambulance in advance as I'll pass out when seeing this masterpiece in person. Merry Christmas and all the best for you and your family members in 2024❤
Extra taxiway is a great idea! Passing by my local airport all the time on my way to work, I always see a lot of communication/radio towers scattered about on the outskirts of the grounds. Plus, you definitely still need the ATC tower! Are you going to make a jetbridge or is it strictly a Bluth Staircar sort of operation?
Just a suggestion but I feel like it would look cool if you had a plane hung on the ceiling with some fishing wire so it looks like It is flying around. This was a Great video too!
For you airport I think a helicopter city tour area would be great. You could have a sign saying city tours here, and have a little story of characters going on a helicopter tour, and have the same company helicopter tour mid flight over the city on the tour. Or have some type of private helicopter CEO area in the airport and in the city have the landing pad on top of an office building. It would make a great story to tie in the airport to the city, and have not just the train interconnecting them but some type of aircraft. Maybe some type of name for your airport, With a "Welcome to" sign, or a taxi rank outside and bus/taxi transfer area. Great videos and updates, been watching for a while.
I was one of those doubtful about the landing marks, I thought they were much too dark - adding the landing plane has COMPLETELY changed my opinion. I should never have doubted you!
For the cows, what I do is use 1x1green flower studs and put a leg on that. You could expand on this by covering up the floating area with more flowers
Wondering how it would look to use flat tiles in two different green shades to simulate mowed grass. If it looks good it would get rid of all the studs and you could still use the claws and normal grass to add a variety of patches to the grass
It would be so cool to see a plane on an arrival path or departure path that has just taken off, flying over the Lego City hanging from the side of the wall! Like a ‘not so hidden’ Easter egg. Just like the train goes around the city, it would be so awesome to see a plane among the clouds on the wall
I think the airport is missing a control tower, perhaps by making a sort of L shape around the terminal. Then the new type of vegetation is cool. And finally, I think the roof sags down if you do one part instead of cutting it into pieces. And I don't remember what you said about integrating a station into the airport?
Big suggestion: I’m feeling like a really modern, architectural transport terminal close to the airport would be cool. Trains, cars and buses will have very quick and convenient access to the airport facility, and would be a very interesting build to design and experiment with
as a rampy here, i reccomend having GSE (ground service equipment) scattered around the terminal and bays (the gates) such as stairs, Ground Power units, Baggage tugs and baggage carts, Cans (the larger containers for larger aircraft), belt loaders and Front machine loaders (the really big machines you see loading the containers) and of course pushback tugs!
an idea: sometimes the gates of the terminals have movable "bridge" (looks like tunnel with legs with wheels): it connects the plane directly to the gate, so the people board the plane directly to the building. And when all the bridges are busy, or it's a small airline, they send instead those harmonica buses to the plane, that is parked somewhere on the tarmac 🙂
could be interesting to add a "drop off" area for cars and taxis, when they arrive to the airport from the city. they have there those red and white bars over the road and parking ticket machines...
I think you should add a lawn mower that will mow the grass in the airport so behind it there should be smooth tiles (which would cover up the studs) and then some of the new pieces infront of it to cover up more as I believe only having the newer pieces would make it have to many studs in plain view when you look at the rest of the builds.
One thing you could always add is an electrical substation, a little emergency construction yard (most Int’l airports have them for onsite maintenance crews) or even a depot for air-freight
Big fan of the claw elements. Perhaps you could align them to make a sort of indent in the grass, as though it's been mowed recently? Or mix in some lighter green elements.
My favourite passenger aircraft is the Concorde, I know it’s old and massive and hard to build but it’s a lovely aircraft. I would absolutely love too see it. Who’s with me? Also don’t forget a hangar! I love your videos so much and I hope you keep up the good work.❤
About your question of the taxi way, i think you should add a small building that can fit a few of those luggage carriers and other vehicles, but its up to you.
Looking through the terminal really makes me want to have you rotate the airport 180 degrees. So you can see all the storytelling inside the terminal when you stand in front it. And you can look over the airport and still see the runway.
These videos are by far the best thing on CZcams - thanks dude. Here's a suggestion: The train tracks could go underground into a train station (real or imaginary) underneath the airport terminal or right next to it. For reference, perhaps something along the lines (pun intended) of the train station beneath Copenhagen Airport.
I remember you talked about adding some kind of wear to the surface of the landing strip, apart from the tyre marks. Maybe you could try buying second grade used parts, that are slightly scratched, or off colour, and replace a few pieces of the strip, where the traffic would be much higher
The new grass/vegetation looks so much better because it’s not to tall not to short and it fills up the area just enough But one thing that could help it maybe a bit more colour?
I think a classic aircraft "museum" would be cool in the back, have some bi-wing and tri-wing planes, maybe something like a Da Vinci helicopter as well.
Grass at airports, particularly one’s with heavy commercial traffic volume, are religiously mowed. Overgrowth can become a safety hazard by coving up signage making it harder for pilots to read, blocking lights, and hindering emergency trucks that need to operate on the grass. So shorter and less for the grass is more! Maybe could add a tractor dragging a mower behind it mowing the grass! As another commenter said, ATC tower! Great work per usual!
If not already planned, airplanes flying over the whole display would look great and add an entire new level to look at. Perhaps with skydivers?! Hot air balloons, etc. etc.! Love the videos
Great airport! Great building techniques! Some things I would change as an airplane enthusiast: 1: build actual aircraft (737, A320, ERJ-175) smaller aircraft for a smaller airport. 2: while the aircraft are parked at the gate, make sure there is enough room for an aircraft to taxi by the parked aircraft.
one fun thing that could be seen on the airport would be a military jet. they look very cool and there are really good models out there, that can fit perfectly in terms of size in the airport.
Student pilot here. If you want to make the vegetation as realistic as possible, here are some real life applications. Airports usually leave higher vegetation around the runway to make sure birds won’t see small animals and won’t fly over the runway, so birdstrikes can be avoided. Further away from the runway the vegation is a little lower so pilots are able to see the signs and lights much better and also birds will gather around in those areas.
Airports usually have planes take off and land going both ways on the runway so I think adding the taxiway to the end would make it look better. I also think it would be more realistic to add the black rubber marks on the other side of the runway to show that planes land going both ways.
My favourite Lego City has an update! I like the claw grass - they look like the wind has blown on them. The airport terminal slanted glass panels are brilliant. Cant wait to see the stories inside. Looking forward to the next video
making the grass with tiles, but alternating dark and light like a well maintained lawn or soccer field could be good, considering how well maintained airport lawns often are
Amazing! I think the claw usage for the grass is brilliant, and maybe you could add a few airplanes flying above your lego city via fishing line or similar materials. Amazing!
I got a few small ideas for the lego city. 1: A large hospital with a helipad. With an airport nearby it would be cool to have that. 2: Maybe a grain Silo at one of the farms? 3: As someone who been to airports a lot... an idea would be to give the runway a few "ditches" not big enough for tires to get stuck, but you know more WEAR AND TEAR. You can even add small puddles of water to it in the small ditches or some lil parts of grass or certain plants that use those lil cracks and ditches to grow in. Makes it seem more alive. You could try it on some roads 1st... since country side roads are less upkept most of the time.
I'm at ATC IRL so obviously you gotta add a tower! Other suggestions: Parked aircraft need support services. If there's no jetbridge they're gonna need stairs, a ground power unit, a pushback truck. A baggage cart would look good too. Many airports have a navigation aid called a VOR/DME on the field. It might be an interesting build for you (lots of little antennas) look up PAPI lights, very important and would be a cool detail to have! Good luck!
the new grass is much nicer and looks more realistic, I would like to see a road leading to the airport, maybe a car park and also maybe a shuttle train almost like a modern speed tram or something like this?
The "blown over grass" studs should be placed in-line with aircraft to show the grass being blown down by the engines in strategic spots where it makes sense. That's always a thing I noticed on my various flightlines over the years.
I’d love to see something besides a plane. Maybe a helicopter? Also, having a plane that has taken off and is making a turn above the city, perhaps hung from wire, would be very cool as well. Especially if instead of a regular interior, you wired the internals so the wing and tail lights could be turned on. Imagine with the lights off and you can look up to see the plane lights blinking.
I feel like what I could use is one possibly two small hangars off to the side, there can house stuff like smaller personal/private planes/jets. It could also use a small lot for ground crew vehicles. But you work at your own pace, love to see more videos like this!
I like the claws. Id mix them together with the other elements for a little bit of variety. Its likely the spaces dont get much care beyond the occassional mowing, so itd make sense
An additional taxiway would take up the empty space you have there as well as increase airport efficiency. Unless you have ideas already, that would work well.
For the grass part of the airport, I would like to suggest a secundary, smaller grass runway with a few “sport planes” like cesna and gliders. Possibly a hangar for them. This allows for much more story telling than another taxiway. And of course a control tower
I think that you should connect the train layout to the airport. You could have cargo trains drop off cargo in a certain section at the airport for cargo planes. Also, a monorail would be really cool!
a cool idea for more open parts, like a far distance from the room's wall to where you can walk and see the city could be background cities in mini scale like the architecture sets, or maybe a little town on the mountains
I know the main focus has been the main city , but I’d like to see how the rest of the museum is coming along

I really like the claw grass. It makes the grass look withered and flattened, like you'd see next to a runway.
Maybe add mowing lines like on a footbalfield. 2 or 3 rows of pieces pointing one direction and the next 2 or 3 rows 180 degree opposit direction. Don’t know if it works, but worth a try!

1: build actual aircraft (737, A320, ERJ-175) smaller aircraft for a smaller airport.
2: while the aircraft are parked at the gate, make sure there is enough room for an aircraft to taxi by the parked aircraft.
I suggest that you make two floors in the terminal and access the plane from the top floor, through the tunnel.
one fun thing that could be seen on the airport would be a military jet. they look very cool and there are really good models out there, that can fit perfectly in terms of size in the airport.
I love the hands/claws
I really like how you listen to the comments. I'm sure a lot of your viewers are invested in this project. It's a nice sense of community :)
making the grass with tiles, but alternating dark and light like a well maintained lawn or soccer field could be good, considering how well maintained airport lawns often are
Amazing! I think the claw usage for the grass is brilliant, and maybe you could add a few airplanes flying above your lego city via fishing line or similar materials. Amazing!
as i pilot myself i appreciate the realism you added, it really looks like a real airport!
It might be an interesting build for you (lots of little antennas)
look up PAPI lights, very important and would be a cool detail to have!
Good luck!
I'd like to see some road maintenance crews working in the city, maybe building a new road or repaving (rebuilding?) an existing one.
The added detail of rubber abrasion on the runway is so cool
the new grass is much nicer and looks more realistic, I would like to see a road leading to the airport, maybe a car park and also maybe a shuttle train almost like a modern speed tram or something like this?
Make it a well kept flower garden, with bushes, and colorful flowers.
The "blown over grass" studs should be placed in-line with aircraft to show the grass being blown down by the engines in strategic spots where it makes sense. That's always a thing I noticed on my various flightlines over the years.
The airport in your LEGO city is simply amazing! 👏👏👏
I really like this series and the airport would be so much better than it already is with an airport fire station with the special fire trucks
An additional taxiway would take up the empty space you have there as well as increase airport efficiency. Unless you have ideas already, that would work well.
A rooftop garden on the terminal would be an interesting addition. 🌳
I still can’t understand how you have so much Lego and space. It is truly amazing.
Museum in progress
For the grass part of the airport, I would like to suggest a secundary, smaller grass runway with a few “sport planes” like cesna and gliders. Possibly a hangar for them.
This allows for much more story telling than another taxiway.
And of course a control tower
I like the taxi markings with a little less grass around them. Keep up the great work!
First building in a +30m² area, "when having this limited space". Your work is on another level
you should add a private jet trying to park but it's wings are longer than 24m being stopped by some guards to add a small story to the airfield :)
The new vegitation with the claws looks absolutely great!
I'd like to see a helipad and control tower for the airport, but really good build and love the dedication!
I really think a Zoo would be nice. There is a huge variety of animals these days.
