How about what seems to be some people's intention to provoke a 'newsworthy' response (interestingly enough it didn't get one but still made the news)? I'm a person of color and see nothing wrong with this whole thing- Native American, Black Hebrews, boys. People in a public place exercising their rights with zero violence. def has. Those kids were definitely being provoked. And esp when you compare them to similar recent "mob" situations, they responded very commendably.
A lot of comments are here are either "MAGA kid did nothing wrong" or "that was disrespectful of the kid to stare at him". From seeing the whole video online, I don't see anyone at fault here but a bit diaprectful on the administrators from the school not stopping this. They had guides for this trip and should have controlled them better, if so the Elder wouldn't have came in.

The chaperone had them where they were supposed to be. So you don’t blame the BHI group for yelling slurs and calling them school shooters, or calling the Native American group a bunch of savages?

Like you said, watch the whole video. The old man got in between the two groups to diffuse the situation. The Native Americans were conducting a peaceful protest and were trying to go up the Lincoln Memorial.
@@leahcimordisi .. The old man "claimed" he did this "to diffuse the situation". BS. If so the why didn't he explain to the boy what he was doing rather than staring him down for 3 solid minutes? And if you watch him wade through the students you can clearly see that there are plenty of areas he could have walked up the stairs; he instead chose to engage in a staring contest while banging and chanting in the boy's face in order to intimidate the boy. I call BS on both those claims.
Additionally the old man tried the same thing at a church the following day but was ejected. He's an old, native bully using Jackboot Antifa tactics and nothing more.

We need solidarity in this country!!! Here is a peaceful example of assumptions remaining peaceful and an event that the many videos show Mr Phillips literally going out of his way to walk up to the kids whom are standing on the stairs waiting for their bus. Respect to Mr. Phillips expressing himself. How are these kids "...full of hate ....what these kids are doing to this country....tearing down the fabric ' as Mr. Phillips says? Looks like kids waiting for the bus and backed up against the stairs. And if you watch the full videos you see the kids saying they are waiting for a bus after the pro life march. And the clearly kids going in with the drummers beat until it is in their faces and you hear people yelling, "Go back to Europe where you came from!" . Just watch the full videos. Still the kids showed no fear waiting for theit bus and all stayed peaceful. Love this country!!!!! Very powerful Mr. Phillips! Respect to you! Sorry to learn that you have been accosted in the past confronting youngsters!

Most of the kids thought he was coming in there without an issue or to cause a problem. That is why they were joining in, singing, having fun. As KIDS do! When a person walks into someone's space, here an adult towards a kid standing there, inches from his face, banging a loud drum almost into his ear and stare him down, then it does become a confrontational action. A friend enacted this encouter out toward me as a demonstaration of what Phillips did toward Sandmann and my dog, standing close by, responded by starting to defend me. He was about ready to take her out in order to protect me from her! Even a dog with the brain the size of a walnut can tell that similar actions like Phillips' toward Sandmann were confrontational, why can't any of these people who are posting such vitriolic, threatening things against this KID?
Ok I am aware that what they're doing, mocking, isn't cool, by why did the native Americans approach the boys at all?

It is important to know the cultures of other people. I’m Native American and it is very disrespectful to stare into the eyes of an elder. Please take the time know First Nation people and be tolerant of our culture and customs.
I can see why the media isn’t showing the full video. This version shows a drum beating adult intimating a high school boy. The media’s cut of the video reverses that reality.

I think he's saying yourselves like everyone who says this was wrong. I saw a group of smug teens not a hate rally. They aren't bad kids. He showed restraint when a drum was banging in his face. It is possible to think it was for intimidation if you are not aware of indigenous customs. Nothing about this native man appears intimidating to me. In fact, it sounds like a lot of healing songs that I have heard during my time with indigenous people. One story says that Nathan (the indigenous man) approached the students after seeing them interacting with a different group. Both of those groups may have been saying some not great stuff, but the student group was much larger, so Nathan came over there to draw attention to himself. I obviously do not know exactly what happened. But I agree with @ryesha runninghorse in saying that they did not have a respectful response. Many of them were blatantly mocking and laughing at him.
