bored of water is such a first world problem
I live in a "first world" country, the US. I love water. It tastes clean (not really, there's so many different versions in the US), but it's water.
You literally require it to live, sure it tastes like essentially nothing but when you're thirsty it WILL quench you unless you've got some serious issues

Pyro making this video might not cost him his sponsor money, but it'll surely scare sponsors away, talking about stuff behind the scenes and taking sponsors purely for the money and not for the product. It's pretty obvious but it's not a good look.

I don't think Pyro understands that it doesn't matter if people don't usually hold their bottle upside down. That point is that cheaper bottles don't have this problem. Also, you can't always assure your bottle will be upright at all times. Sometimes, things happen, and your bottle full of water tips in your bag. Air up bottles would leak, others wouldn't. Saying it's only a minor flaw doesn't change the fact it's a flaw.
If you put the bottle in a bag and it jostles around, it might very well end up upside down.
It only has a slit in the back to let the air into the bottle. That air then goes to the small hole in the pod/rubber lid. That’s how the scent is delivered. When the pod is pressed down, the little hole is covered and it dosnt bubble when drinking. When there is a pod in and the lid is on it will never leak. The only time it’s an issue is if you knock over the bottle but otherwise I bring it to work every day, and it just dosent leak with regular day to day use. I actually put the lid on when I put in fresh ice, and room temp water and shake it up to cool the water faster. No leaking into the lid. The reason that it filled up with water in their upside down test with the lid is because they had no pod in it.
Source: I’ve had one for like 5 months, (I haven’t bought any new pods, just left a pod in but been using it as a bottle.)
@Auxemplary I feel like a company that is willing to charger that much for a bottle. Should have made it so you could use it as a regular bottle, too. That doesn't leak when there's just water in it. But I don't know, maybe they should've put more consideration into the design. But that's just me, I guess.
On a side note, are you sure it's safe to keep the same one in for so long? Couldn't it grow bacteria?

and it doesn't matter if it has a lid because as soon as you open it, it will spill out of it. like huh?!? if you don't think about it and just open it and spill it on yourself, that is annoying and a pretty major design flaw. I have 2L bottles that were like 13€ that do not spill at all
Closed bottle should NOT leak even when upside down. The problem isn't that the "drinking" hole is leaking. The problem is that the bottle is leaking where the water should NEVER go.

But you realize the bottle wasn't closed, right? And it shouldn't surprise anybody that a bottle that isn't closed leaks (when upside down).
The part where it leaks from is specifically there to balance pressure. If you screw on the cap properly, the gummi part at the back gets pushed down which closes the gap.
It's not in Pyro's video but in Hipyo UNSCREWS the cap a bit before shaking it around, obviously leading to leakage.
Pyro's bottle was leaking because he didn't have a pod in, leaving the little hole at the straw open.
There are very sound and reasonable arguments against buying an AirUp bottle but Hipyo chose baseless slander instead.

isnt the hole in the top there to put more air into the bottle. otherwise you would be creating a vacuum in the bottle which would make it not possible to sip for a long time. like, have you ever drank out of those small cola bottles and then you dent them by taking too much air out? I feel like the hole is there for a reason but they could have made it a one-way system.

As someone who has had multiple water bottles leak in my backpack, yes, it matters if it leaks when upside down. You might not put in upside down but it will find a way.
And to the people saying it's leaking through the hole that's required to provide air for suction, I've had a few water bottles for this exact purpose, and they still never leaked.

I'd argue he was still hard shilling for them because our little pet brain really likes the potential of getting a sweet sweet bag again if we behave nice even outside of a contract. Panopticon logic, you think they could still be watching and judging.
Companies rely on this and Pyro is still finding it hard to admit to a lot in this very video, open your eyes man. Even if he didn't want them to sponsor again, it's an entity that sent him free stuff and made him feel special. A little bias always creeps in unless for some reason you go the opposite way and start actually hating them, neutrality isn't impossible but it is impossible to prove you're neutral to others after this.

Apparently one issue with Air Up is that it really doesn't work for everyone. The scent based taste thing is highly dependent on your nose, its shape, and sensitivity. For some people (like Hipyo), it will taste like vomit, to other people, it will taste fine, or even great.
(There was some scent scientist person on the Hipyo video that commented something to this effect. Clearly they are 100% verifiably correct.)
another thing i saw in the vid is someone mentioning that their younger sibling got popcorn lung from it, so like, maybe ppl should just not be using these at all :(

On the leaking issue, sure you wouldnt hold it upside down but that was more than just a leak, that was like a full pour and if I have it in my bag and it falls on it's side while walking/taking my bag on and off, (which is pretty common from my experience) it does not bode well and will probably leak a little on its side. IMO a water bottle should never leak. Water should only come out of the place you drink from, and only when you drink from it. The lid doesn't matter because if it leaks into the lid, it's not just going to get sucked back into the bottle it's going to drip down the sides when you turn the bottle upright again, and depending where you open it and how much water spilled out that could be pretty annoying.
A few people have mentioned you need a hole for air, but other bottles seem to have solved this problem without leaks, so there must be some way to solve it.
i think it is a designed, the bottle needs an air intake to mix scented air in to the water it was planned
but you can make an air only valve or make really close then not doing that is definitely a problem
@@darkplasmo7921 there's one hole near the nozzle that's pointed out in the video as necessary for the scent to work but it appears the leak is coming from the bit where the lid is screwed on.
In any case, if it's by design then maybe i's just a flawed idea to begin with.
@@jblen if you have a rigid bottle, you need to equalize the interior pressure somehow, I believe that is why it exists I don't think it was a smart way to do it just that is planned

The leak is designed so you don't have to let air in the bottle after a few sips (like the cardboard juices that get compressed when you suck through the straw), but it could be easily solved with something else; so yeah, bad design.

It's sounds as if you've never owned another water bottle than the air up. If you where to buy a classic nike suction water bottle, that kinda looks like the air up, except no lid. You can hold it upside down and it doesn't leak. The reason the water isn’t coming out of the head of the air up is because of the size of the hole, it's science badinga dong. A water bottle like that should just not leak.
He really sounds like he was born in a lab sometimes, that little sparkling water segment where he presents it as a hack if water somehow "becomes boring" is a little bit dystopian.

I, unfortunately, tried one of those bottles without seeing anyone talking negatively about it. Dropped around $80 total on the whole package, and it was awful. The pods don't work on everyone, it's a trick that not all brains can be tricked by. Sadly, the quality of the bottle was awful as well. The entire thing tasted like plastic, so I couldn't even use it as a regular water bottle. A whole lot of money straight into the trash, haven't been scammed like that in some time.

@@riqrimoli 2 litres is a lot for an average person. You shouldn't really follow guidelines on what to drink per day, as it's based on a bunch of factors.
If you're out and about, walking, working out, and/or not sitting around all day, you'll need more. If not, and you spend a lot of your time sitting around, you'll need less.
Drink what you feel is a good, comfortable amount for you. If you feel you're drinking too much, don't push yourself.
And, yes, the bottle is way overpriced lol

CZcamsr sponsor brands are not usually straight up scams. They're just usually overpriced and lower quality to what's on the market. It's because they spend more money on advertising than actual quality control. If you're buying sponsor products, just realize you're doing it to support the creator and get a mid product in return.

I'd have liked to see Pyro include the part just after, where this video ends, Hipyo loads a fresh pod and they both agree that the flavor is worse. So the conclusion was to let the pods sit for a little while before drinking with them, and that's why he hated the initial taste as much as he did.

The problem with tea is that it won’t be sweet unless you add a bunch of sugar or sweetener. Thus defeating the purpose of being “healthy”

so a comment on the source video actually explains why the guy was finding his experience with the actual flavour so bad:
basically, not every person's nose is the same as everyone else's, so the fact AirUp works based on scent means it'll work for different people. And that's not even getting into stuff like how people will like how certain things taste and some won't like that same thing, or stuff like colds or alergies affecting how AirUp will work.
basically, even if it works perfectly and tastes delicious for some people, others may not have the same experience.
This right here. I ordered air up and it works for my mother but not for me because a part of my autism stops me from smelling normally. My mother though xan easily taste it way more then I can (very very faint for me)

That "leak" is not a manufacturing defect though, it's needed to let air back into the bottle or else sucking on the straw would create a vacuum and no water would come up. It's literally necessary for straw bottles like this to work.

Honestly, the thing that got me to drink regular water more was the horror story told by a friend who experienced kidney stones at a younger age. The experience left him drinking water regularly exclusively and only doesn't for special ocassions or celebrations.
As someone who also experiences kidney stones at a young age it does suck and now I have to drink 3L of water a day but drinking lemonade and eaing citrus with ur water a little bit helps Breakdown the material that causes kidney stones

most reviews on manufacturer websites are super curated. I once left a review of a pocket knife on a manufacturers site that I have been using since I was a teen, but that particular model has some serious flaws in it. I wasn't even rude about it. they deleted my review and sent me a nasty email about how I should contact them directly rather than leaving a bad review.

It's crazy that you skipped last part, when the last lady tried a "fresh pod" (freshly out of box) and said it's terrible. The last conclusion was that this pods are better after some time, rather than all of the time (which is stupid, because imagine that if you want to enjoy a product you have to have it less, because with time scent i wearing off)
For those of you who hate plain water, you can put some cut up fruit in it overnight and it will take on the fruit flavor. Very mildly of course and not super sweet. I do this sometimes with frozen fruit when I really crave more flavor, mostly in the summer.
But the best way is to switch to water in general. Often, people don't like it because they're used to strong flavors. But water is cheaper and healthier than most of that.
I for one am pretty sure that the only reason my blood values still come back sensible and diabetes still hasn't gotten to me despite me being overweight is that I drink almost exclusively water, with any other kind of drink being considered more of a snack to be enjoyed in moderation.

8:13 fun fact: sparkling water is actually faster at hydrating than non sparkled water because the gas goes up thus pushing the liquid down which helps with digesting the liquid at a faster rate thus having quicker hydration.

first off: who even watches youtuber sponsorships? You skip through them. Plus points for the goats who do their sponsored segments with the chapters so you can skip them more efficiently.
2nd: I don't think him holding it upside down and expecting it to not leak is dishonest. Especially if the one hole where water is supposed to come out of is closed. You don't expect it to leak from the side. That's not dishonest.
Now 3rd to the question why you would hold a bottle like this upside down in the first place: You don't. Duh. BUT shit happens. You accidentally swipe the bottle from your table while reaching for something else or it slips out of your hands or whatever other scenario, a little bit of spillage is expected in those cases right? BUT now there's 2 instances of leakage from that bottle so it leaks even more.
Point being: It shouldn't leak out of the side. Period. Doesn't matter if you don't usually hold it upside down, the fact that it does leak is unacceptable. It's not him being dishonest, but rather him expecting it not to leak when it shouldn't. When you hold the straw portion closed it shouldn't leak, but it does.

only 5 liters? so it's like those stupid jelly glade cone things...if it stays open it just, dries up and doesn't scent anymore? Why not do like the sport gatorade bottle where the top has to "pop up" to let you drink, have it just, slightly open where the ring inserts to make it last longer?
A design flaw for sure a company could rectify and just outsell them, but it's flawed on purpose to keep you buying their scent pods.
Products like this bother me so much where they "over engineer" it in a way that you can't just buy a 3rd party solution.
EDIT: had to add this, but I got a 64 oz water bottle that is one of those 48hours still has ice types, for 32 bucks, blows that air up bottle out of the water, and comes with 3 different lids, 2 straws (for the straw lid), DOES NOT LEAK WHEN YOU TIP IT OVER, and comes with a carrying strap and outside cushioned pouch to keep it from being damaged. Look for Buzio, best water bottle I ever bought, been using it for about 2 years, haven't had a single issue with it.

The second leak also works with the lid on I've had multiple experiences where it goes upside down in my bag and the lid fills with water and slowly leaks through the lid

Some people are just more sensitive to certain smells (for example, the smell of vanilla made me feel sick for most of my life so far). I can't say whether the guy overreacted or not, but it might be true that it was a disgusting smell and taste for him. Also that was more likely not the first time he drank tap water from his own house, so that by itself wouldn't gross him out and it's fair for him to judge how AirUp affects that taste.

Personally, i find it hard to critique people who don't like drinking water because if you live in california or Texas the water is shit, it's not filtered well it was left stagnant for too long some where, it's just garbage.
My daughter fell for the hype and wanted an air up for Christmas, personally I don't think it's a scam but it's very expensive for what it is. It does what they say it does but I found it to be like a very very faint taste.
Most of these sponsors like hello fresh and better help are willing to hand out sponsors because outside of the "exclusive" deal they're rather expensive.
I hold my water bottle upside down, but to be fair, my lid doesn't have the sucky straw built-in.
