HOI4 Division Combat Stats | What Do They All Mean?

  • All Army Template stats mean something, but what's sometimes far more important, are the unseen knock-on effects, most of the stats have, elsewhere in the battle.
For example, a panzer division needs X amount of supply, and if we're short, the division will run low on fuel - this is obvious - but the panzer division will also begin to suffer organisational penalties, so it's a double whammy. This complex inter-relationship between all the stats is what makes Hearts if Iron 4 such fun, and why 2 games are never alike, with no 1-size-fits-all solution to an easy win.

The way I think of manpower loss is as casualties. Casualties doesn’t necessarily mean death, it means neutralized and unable to fight. Field hospitals patch up some of the casualties with more minor wounds and get them back out on the frontlines.

Yeah, in general you will have 3 WIA for every 1 KIA, one of those WIA will generally be a catastrophic wound either amputation or something which will require 6 months of care and likely lead to a discharge. Of those other 2, about 20% of the time it'll be a wound that is treated and the soldier sent back to his unit within a few days, 30% will require about 30 days of convalescent leave, and the other 50 will require about 30 - 90 days of treatment and another 90 days of con leave. IRL of course not in game the in game rates are weird
