  • Based on the Maverick Trail, one year later Can-Am released the Maverick Sport, a 60” class sport SXS that could easily be argued as best in class. For the past 12 months we’ve been putting the Maverick Sport 1000R to the test, remaining unchanged for 2020. So, after putting some serious time in the driver’s seat, the producers of the number one Polaris RZR S 1000 test on CZcams bring you our review of the 2020 Can-Am’s Maverick Sport DPS 1000R
    The Maverick Sport 1000R DPS comes at a premium price for the 60” segment, costing $1,000 more than the RZR S 1000 with its fancier suspension. Although, the Maverick Sport seems a bit more refined than the RZR S 1000. Compared to Honda’s 64” wide Talon 1000 X or the RZR S 1000, the Maverick Sport delivers a plusher ride and a more spacious interior than either. Overall we believe that the Maverick Sport delivers a well-rounded great performing package that refuses to stay in its own lane. It’s simply a great sport SXS regardless of class.

    The race to the biggest, strongest baddest SBS that brought us the x3, made a void where the older models played. this one seems to slide right in that spot

    Got first 30 hours on 2020 maverick XMR. ITP's do way better than expected in the trails and they allow some pretty sick powerslides!!

    Just picked up one of these;it’s quick, nimble, and fits anywhere. Just because it’s small doesn’t mean it isn’t capable of tough off-road spots either. I climbed almost anything in 2wd high and if I couldn’t I got up easy in 4wd high/low.

    Been waiting for this review to drop from you guys! Very nice work 👍🏻 On the fence between this one and the RZR S1000 as my upgrade from the Pioneer 500. Looks like it may beat out the RZR in a few categories.. Anyone have thoughts on which aspects of the RZR may shine over the Maverick Sport?

    • @UTVonDemand
      @UTVonDemand  Před 4 lety +5

      Without a shootout the RZR S has a bit more adjustable shocks, although the Sport seems a bit more plush. The RZR S has a shorter wheelbase that should make it a bit more maneuverable in tight sections. If we were building a race car for tight trails the Polaris might be a better option. If comfort and and the benefits of a longer wheelbase for high speed stability matters more, we might lean toward the Can-Am. Please feel free to hit us back with any additional questions you have. We'll do our best to answer them. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      After driving both on the same trail system, heres what I came up with. The fit and finish of the can am is way better than the rzr. You honestly cant beat the interior. Power feels really close on both. If your driving technical woods, I'd go rzr. The longer wheelbase had me go in reverse to clear opsticals way more than any of the rzr's. And the aftermarket is so strong on rzr. Another thing to consider is the length again. If you have a ton of room on your trailer, then no big deal, but if you have a few buggies going and only a few inches to spare, then the can am might be a deal breaker. With all being said, I bought the can am maverick sport 1000r. The pros for the can am outweighs the pros of the Polaris. 3 long trips down and zero issues. I ride with mainly rzr's in my group. There is also a few others like, Honda talon, Yamaha wolverine, arctic cat wildcat, and a few I cant think of, but after swapping and driving all, it's hard to beat the sport. Just my opinion. On another note, I seen my first arctic cat xx this past ride, realllllly impressed. Ride safe.

      Tanks Doc. We can't stop thinking about how it might stack up against a Talon X. Slightly different class but there will be a lot of drivers who frequent tighter trails that will consider both.

    Are you sure you tested a 2020 and not a 2019? The 2020 Maverick Sports don't come with daytime running LEDs and a toggle switch for the Eco/Sport modes. Nice try, but that SxS was a 2019.

    • @UTVonDemand
      @UTVonDemand  Před 4 lety

      We'd say it kind of depends on what you value most. The Can-Am seems to deliver a slightly plusher ride and a more spacious, comfortable interior. The RZR S has a shorter wheelbase so it is perhaps a bit more maneuverable in the tightest turns. Please feel free to hit us back if you have any specific questions. We will do our best to answer them.

      @@UTVonDemand You're right. The RZR S is more maneuverable yes, (but how many times does it really matter in a full days ride?) The ride, power and comfort in a Maverick Sport is unmatched in the 60" segment IMO. Plus I'd say riding with friends with RZR's, my Sport pulled out of mud bogs, steep sloppy muddy hills far ahead of the RzR's. Even the most Polaris lover was amazed at the Maverick Sport. But of course, I just attributed my driving skills as the determining factor. LOL. Seriously though, the MAVERICK Sport 1000R is amazing.

    I just went into a dealer (April 2022) with my heart set on one, red, just like the video. I sat in it for 10 seconds and walked out of the show room. I drove a long time to get there too, several hours and brought my trailer. That tiny digital shitty instrument cluster and how tight it was inside; I was like NOPE. Can Am has wicked clusters in their snowmobiles, I can't believe they have such garbage in their side by sides, especially for the price. I'm a super Can Am fan too. Very disappointed. The X3 seats are too low and the Defender is too high. I'll keep my current Commander another year and get a General or Rmax next year.
