#warcraft3 #blizzard #warcraftreforged - Hry
NOTES ON THIS EPISODE:
- Thrall didn't say anything funny or referential, so he wasn't included
- Rexxar shares the same voice lines as the regular Beastmaster, so I decided to save him for the Neutral units video
- The Blademaster's line "Wassuppi" is actually referring to a more specific "Wassup?"-campaign video (thanks to viewer *crumbs):* czcams.com/video/IP3XaAqDwZ0/video.html
- The footage I showed of the "Wazzup?" line is actually from _Scary Movie,_ not the original ad.
- The Wind Rider's line "Flash! HAHAHA" is a reference to the song "Flash" by Queen.
Drek'thar - "Let's see if we can find any clues"
no reference, but Jayborinoplays loves this line lol
Nazgrel and Drekthar's responses are just lines reused from their campaign dialogue. They probably decided late to give the units custom dialogue and couldn't get the actors to come back to record new stuff.
The Wind Rider’s “Flash HAHAHA” is probably a reference to the queen song Flash, which is about Flash Gordon and features the iconic line “Flash, Ah Ahhhh” (savior of the universe)
The flash reference is from the Queen song Flash.
Dude listen to the first line in Queen's song "Flash" and you'll have all the evidence you need
Fun fact. Witch doctor is voiced by a woman in the czech version of the game. They took the WITCH part literally.
Fascinating!
No way, really?! 😮
@@NoelJohnCarlo
Indeed. When czechs hear the word WITCH, they think Baba Yaga and not a jamaican witch doctor.
There are more differences in the czech dub, for example many joke quotes were changed, because the refferences wouldn't make sense in our country.
@@kompuglobalhypermega Wish I could hear their voices
@@NoelJohnCarlo
the witch doctor is around the 4th minute

back when Blizzard games were real craftmanship with heart put into little details. Those were the days.
Yeah I agree. Luckily they have started remastering ,- ah nvm...
Man, I really wish they had done Warcraft 4 somewhere down the line, now this seems all but a wish never to be fulfilled. Good times playing WC3 with my school friends.
I have lost touch with the lore since I don't play WoW, but I remember being fascinated by it when I was young, don't know how it is going today. Last time I checked Arthas was killed.
Ok Boomers
Reforged =≈ *#REFUNDED*
just like metal slug
I always thought "wasssuppp" on the Blademaster was a play on words with Wasabi.
me too, I actually believe it to be the case because that would fit in the samurai theme of his puns
"And they said there Blizzard games don't have bugs" - Anub'Arak/Crypt Lord (fixed)
*Crypt Lord
@@JohnnyCasey Anub'Arak IS a Crypt Lord
@@zp6114
Crypt Lord IS Anub'Arak
@@zp6114
"And they said there are no bugs in Blizzard games" is a quote that not only used by Anub'Arak, but overall Crypt Lords in WC3.
The very first comment may cause confusion that the quote itself only dedicated to Anub'Arak, which is not true. I was here to clarify that.
indubitably
Voice actors: So.. how many references would you want us to give?
Blizzard: How many breads have you eaten in your life?
Ah yes, a fellow JoJo intellectual I see
Call me crazy but i think this is a jojo reference
Oh boy oh boy, time for an Orcish language lesson!
"Zug-zug" is an expression of acknowledgement or agreement
"Lok'tar" means victory- it's often used in the phrase "Lok'tar ogar", a battlecry that means "Victory or death!", and is often used as a greeting.
"Swobu" and "Dabu" haven't been translated in any canon sources, but according to the RPG, "Swobu" means "As you command", and "Dabu" means "I obey." It can be presumed that although these terms and Zug-zug mean roughly the same thing, there are subtle differences between them in regards to which context you use them in.
As a bonus, I know the video didn't talk about these, but "Lok'regar," which is part of one of Thrall's voice lines, means "Ready for orders", though the "ogull" that accompanies it in Thrall's line remains untranslated. Additionally, at some point in the Frozen Throne orc campaign, we hear Thrall say "Lok-Narosh" (alternatively spelled Lok-Narash), which means "Arm yourselves."
pin this comment please
Amazing ! thanks a lot for this ... I can't tell which one is my favourite , probably "Lok'tar ogar" OR "Lok-Narosh" .
Thanks! I knew the meaning of a some of them, but now I know more :D
You know you are a real WOW fan when you actually take the time to learn how to speak Orcish
What does the Lok'Regar No'gall mean then?
Obviously pretty much all the annoyed replies in the French version are based on our local movies and comedians, but there is one standout exception that I'd like to share. One of the Tauren's annoyed replies is "Where is the vase of Lord Markham??" This is an insanely specific reference to a bugged quest in Might and Magic 7 where we're supposed to steal a vase that isn't actually in the game.
I sometimes wonder how many people got it.
I ALWAYS WONDERED ABOUT THE "VENGEANCE FOR ZUL'JIN" LINE!!! Thanks for clarifying that! I didn't realize the cuban accent connection at all before. Amazing work as always!
To add on to it, after WC3 it was retconned that almost all troll tribes idolize Zul'jin even though not all tribes are allied with the Amani.
oh my,I always wrongly heard it as “ninja for zul jin!”🤣🤣
@@bsybilly ...HOW?
I'm still unsure if that is an unintentional line or not. In WoW the troll male player has a /charge that yells "For Zul'jin!" which means Blizzard would've acknowledged if that line was a mess up. Plus Zul'jin is not directly a name but a couple phrases. "Zul" translates to "Voodoo Master" and "jin" (in the RPG) is "Chieftain/Elder", thus "Zul'jin" translates to "Great Tribal Witch Doctor". In WoW, the player could be referring to Vol'jin. wow.gamepedia.com/Zandali
@@Th3M4k40n Is that Yevgeny Borisovitch Vol'jin?
Well, a few things about russian localization (I hope anyone will find it interesting):
Our grunts and raiders sound more...orcish. Their voices are rougher and they are growling. And they dont sound like master Yoda.
And raider also make a reference to old soviet carton "There once was a dog" (Жил-был Пёс).
With trolls.... well, almost everyone speak normally, but Vol'jin and Rokhan have some sort of central asian-caucasian accents with grammar mistakes. But instead of Rokhan quote from this video, our has one funnier: (in normal voice) "Where did the accent go? Try it yourself - you will break your tongue".
Ironically, in warcraft 3 our taurens called minotaurs.
Blademsater doesnt have a japanese accent, but he use many japanese words in his quotes.
And some funny quotes (why not):
"Ghoul to ghoul: friend, comrade and food" (Headhunter)
"Do orcs dream of electropigs?" (shaman)
"The one who does nothing is not mistaken" (shaman)
"Have you heard of mad cow disease" (tauren)
"Excessive use of vitamin c leads to the dilution of the brain" (with doctor)
"Still don't believe in democracy? Then we fly to you" (Batrider)
"Hey, do your cat smoke? No? Then it is the Great Hall burning" (Batrider)
"Two blades. One cuts clean. Second...even cleaner!" (Blademaster)
"Goblin is a proud bird: will not fly until you kick" (Blademaster)
"Let the force be with you" (Far Seer)
"Any statement is false. This one too" (Far seer)
"You are the commander! Don't make smart face" (Shadow hunter)
"It's good to have a house in a village" (Tauren Chieftain)
"My wyvern doesn't like you. I don't like you too" (Wyvern rider)
"My strength will not leave me... *Old man cough* I hope" (Cairne)
"Don' confuse cattle with minotaurs" (Spirit walker)
"Not everyone with horns are cuckolds" (Spirit walker)
(sing old sildiers song) "Bullet pierced the bottom of the poooooot" (Grom)
About a house in the village, should have added that this is a slogan of Russian milk products "A House in the Village" ("Домик в деревне")
Also, perhaps somebody out there should make a video about Russian references in those quotes to make it all more coherent
Гул'Дан Воплощение Мрака
About that spirit walker quote.
To not confuse you, cuckold in russian is literally "horns wearer".
My personal highlight was the bomber joke of the batriders. I have to show my father this, because as an old Sowjet russian he despises America.
Хаиль любитель варика=)
3:25 when I used to play my translated version many years before, I never got that reference until I heard the english original (due to the fact that our translated version completly deleted that shattering sound and Tauren just said "sorry"). However, even if our traslaters would include that sound, most of our people wouldnt understand anyway, since we say this proverb in slightly different way (roughly translated to english as "To act like elephant amongs porcelain"). It is often amazing how translation from one language to another can bring such difficult challenges...
Love this series, can't wait to see more!
So glad I became a member, your context is always amazing!
2:38
when you are done with the quests in Sen'jin Village and you take the ride to Razor Hill - Orc grunt gives you the same line. I love it :D
I THOUGHT I remembered that from somewhere! Haha
Pretty sure BM saying "Wazzzupee" is him saying "Wasabi"; a Japanese sauce.
I thought of that. That could indeed be a double-joke.
This was awesome. Can't wait for the others :D
Phenomenally well edited, perfect job~
Can't believe Thumb Wars made it into this.
"Look, up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's me!" I read that in Nappa's voice...
Great vis dude, loved it!
JAMMING INTENSIFIES!
Great video, man.
Nice, you really have a good effort in making this video
sweet! Always love to find out more about my favourite game! I always wondered if the "end justifies tha means" from the Batrider is some kind of refference. Riders and batriders have my favourite voice lines in the whole game :D
I was waiting for it ! Thank you ! I'm surprised Rexxar and Thrall don't have funny quotes like that
Amazing i thought u had done all and then u come up with this that requires huge amount of research.
man great content!!
Love this, thanks!
Oh God, this is amazing! Thank you! I'm Czech, so I didn't get many references in English version. Is also interesting to compare some quotes with that Czech ones which are deffirent xD
Love your work man, can't wait to see what you do with reforged! (I only hope they make a game worthy enough of your brilliance!)
Amazing work!!!!!
I've been waiting for this one, can't get enough of the Human quotes. Thanks! ^^
Back when I was a kid playing the game, I legit thought that the Witch Doctor has a huge-ass mouth that is always open. Only now I realised that it's a beard, or some cloth.
i cant wait for the next episode, i love these video's
Never stop uploading , please
Yay! More videos!
2019 and still wanting more warcraft 3 content
This is such a good vid
I swear that there was a Queen's "Flash" reference with the wind rider.
the tauren in the french version had a lined were he said "were is the vase of markham?" which is a refference to might and magic 7
were because of a bug the vase was impossible to be found
cool, can't wait for part 5
the video i didnt know i needed
7:46 - always thought that was just "WASABI!"
Abel is great.
I just wanted you to know know subbed today. Give more warcraft 3 videos, por favor!!
" Have you ever get hit by lightning where the sun don't shine ? " Greatest shaman quote in the game, how could you leave it out ?
Loving it, troll quotes still be me faves
It's interesting that the Horde seems to have more actual pop culture references than the Alliance.
some of these are just general common culture statements
such as:
"someone call a doctor" is commonly used in movies/tv, not just oceans 11
"tell my wife I love her" was/is a common thing for military personal to say in their last breaths on the battlefield (or at least movies and tv seem to think so)
One missing for the wind rider, a Queen song "Flash"
"Blame it on the Rain? Blame it on King Koopa!"
-SMB3 Cartoon, the Milli Vanilli episode, line cut because of Milli Vanilli controversy.
Girl you know it's true.
Thanks for narrating these, I genuinely like it. So many videos like this just give annoying splash text on the screen.
I expect this kinda humour from a parody of warcraft
8:33 is a reference to "Interstate 60" by Bob Gale from 2002. I found it quite enjoyable.
Edit(/Add): "Pass the peace pipe!" could also be a reference to it, because Interstate 60 was very much also about a magic pipe.
Good stuff
This is so fun!
You are breathtaking
I love that Probes in Starcraft have the line "Stop Poking Meee!" from WC1.
Great vid.
Maybe a bit late to the party , but i wonder if the troll line was wrong.
Instead of vengenace for Zul'jyn it would be Sen'jin who was their leader when Thrall rescued them and added them to the horde in the Warcraft 3 demo.
Yey, new video :3
this is awesome it makes me wanna play it
Goblin sapper : I am the little friend. Say hello!
Ha I never realized the Shadow Hunter was quoting Eddy Murphy from Delirious and I’ve watched that so many times lol
Always impressive to see so much work put to... let's be honest small fun part of the game.
17 years old game and I just realized what all these quotes mean O.o.
9:22 in Russian localisation from 2002 it has lightly different meaning but still with accent.
Suddenly he starts speaking normal and says "Where the accent gone? Try by yourself! You'll broke the tongue". Saddly it doesn't sound good in Reforged
6:05 WHY DIDNT I KNOW THAT????
I always thought Zug-Zug was a reference to Jaq from Cinderella who often says Zug-Zug which in Cinderella means ''Yes'' Basically.
Loving the WC2 orc music opening.
I think the blade master's quote "wazzzupee" is referring to wassabi, i may be wrong lol
SuperLalulalu Yep true
Yeah, it doesn't sound like whatsup at all.
the commercial is reffering to wassabi aswell so its fine
Let's go.
You've done well.
Let's go.
You've done well.
8:16 Always thought of Fight Club with that "My eyes are open" line.
I think Blizzard should support awesome channels like Abelhawk :)
So many obscure references from ancient American TV shows, songs or commercials
the iron chef reference is golden!
You (black)rock!
The batrider line "tell my wife-" *explodes* isn't a reference to any specific thing. It's an allusion to a common trope where someone who knows they are about to die desperately tries to tell someone else to pass a message to their wife, but is brutally cut off by whatever is killing them. Thus ensuring the message never gets out.
Two new Abelhawk videos in a few days? What did I do to deserve this? :D
I think the Drek'thar quote may be a reference to a homestar runner gag of the "narrorator" voice n propeller hat noise.
The Darkspear tribe are a tribe of jungle trolls (occasionally called island trolls)[2] part of the Horde. During Thrall's exodus from Lordaeron, the Horde rescued the Darkspears from the mysterious naga sea witch Zar'jira. The Darkspear tribe owed Thrall and the orcs a great debt and allied themselves with the Horde in gratitude.
You had me at Zug-zug
5:02 My favourite reference from all of Warcraft 3. It is also Naked Gun 2 1/2.
BY A🔪CAN CUT DRUAMA! & STEW CUT A🍅!
"Touch your tongue to mine" had a whole new meaning now lmao
Bro the boot to the head part 🤣
8:47 I remebered this scene from the first "Lucifer" episode. Do you remember when Lucifer smokes joint found on crime scene, passes it and Chloe Decker and she throws it out. He says "hey its puff puff give, not puff puff stomp angrily"
Spirit Walker is easily my favorite unit in Wc3 aside from maybe the Crypt Fiend because of their quotes and they’re just awesome units in the game
As far as favorite unit quotes, it’s so hard for me to choose between Horde and Undead. They’re both so great
There we are again with "CZcams recommendation"
Funny thing Glor'Duk sounds like hes saying Glad Dag in swedish which translate into Happy Day
What I realize now is, that the Rokhan VA is also the VA for the most Troll NPCs and Male Troll characters in WoW...
Theres this goofy thing about spanish localisation and translation. One of the pissed off quotes for the shaman says "We will translate this literally as you ever got hit by lightning where the Sun dont shine". The VA read the whole phrase while recording and the whole audio was put into the videogame. The spanish translation for w3 is really nice but theres a few examples of goofy stuff
That is hilarious! I'm going to see if I can find the lines on CZcams to listen to.
@@Abelhawk czcams.com/video/R33rCHIiKCM/video.html it is the quote that appears at 3:35
"Esto lo traducimos literal : Te ha alcanzado alguna vez un rayo donde el sol no lucia?"
"We will translate this one literally : have you ever been hit by a lightning where the sun do not shines?"
"
(7:34...) That blade master quote had me cracking up.
Love the witch doctor for the BK one and the extended Iron Chef one
I like quotes from that Pitlord.
huh, music from I think Grandia towards the end there. Weird what the brain remembers.
ohh baby!
That clip wasn't from the Budweiser commercial, that was from Scary Movie.
Tauren Chieftain knows to puff puff pass at function. be like Tauren Chieftain
omg i got to look for my thumb wars cd now HAHA
there is also "my wife is not mad!"
Wait the green troll also explains when thrall sees the sleeping trolls in the first orc campaign he says I still can't believe they were ever a part of the horde
