Vought can make a better product and Homelander will feel that harder than most. If butcher is the next homelander, his arc would be complete. A sad arc for a man bent on revenge.

Almost every person, supe or human are horrible. So the show is literally full of villains. Thats why i love it

You nailed it on the head; a lot of the bad things that happen in the show are directly and indirectly caused by Vought. Homelander was raised in a lab under the decision of Vought and turned into a fascist narcissist PR mascot maniac with mommy and daddy issues. Soldier Boy became more spiteful and vengeful after Vought decided to replace him, hand him over to the Russians to be tortured and experimented with. Butcher became the man he is today partially because Homelander r**ed his wife and Vought refused to bring him to justice and made sure no one found out, then hid Becca in her own little prison from Butcher without even telling him, giving him the assumption Vought killed her

Vought are the main villainous entity in the boys, Homelander is a victim of Vought's neglectful ways who has been driven to villainy. He is however a major threat, just not as big of a threat as Vought or the former CEO Stan Edgar. Vought is more powerful, and more influential than Homelander ever will be, that is what Stan Edgar explained to him in season two. Homelander will cause destruction, but just like he was in the comics, he will be stopped before he can control the entire world.
Compared to the power of Vought, he is just a delusional guy who has superpower and he in the comics universe he was killed by a clone that he didn't know about, that is the point that the comics made, Homelander was never important and his death wasn't on a panel.
I like this take that the villain is not as clear its more realistic for having grey characters in a shows main cast.

Yes, he's the Main villain, Vought is a company that created the V and the Supes, but it's to every person decision to the attitude they adopt. I think he became a villain the day he gives V around the world to create Super Villain, but he didn't realize it. In the Airplane, he took a hard decision, but could he have done anything else, he could have save max 2 or 3 person, but it would have still be a tragedy. He try to hide this to keep his image and the image of the company. Think it's still bad, but not near as bad as giving V to terrorism.
Yeah, one could say that he is not the main villain and more of the consequence that vought made. I might overlook this, but I think that the boys is a good representation with the modern celebrities in Hollywood. I'm even curious if this new season will make a reference to the strike of writes. The only thing I believe that makes people a little unsure of who or who isn’t a villain is the fact that we keep getting deeper looks into all of our antagonists. We see a lot of them are victims who became villains…Homelander, Soldier Boy, Neuman, hell even Deep’s lame ass…we see the back stories or at least get little nuggets to suggest deeper emotions. The only thing still unknown….Vought…Edgar…yeah that is the big villain. Mysterious powerful unknown figures whose methods we can only guess at…definitely Vought is the Big Bad…
Homelander is more the side effect of Vought,s evil,He Never had a real Family,He a damage person,who never have any chance at All.

with all the shit Homelander has done, it's BORDERLINE in the villain department. still consider him an anti-hero. kinda like a corrupt cop with powers who sees himself above everyone and above the law when it comes to who he should save and who he shouldn't. self-centered, a bit of a bully, only has his own goals in mind a majority of the time.
almost like The Flash from DCEU. Barry didn't give a shit about the lives he ruined and just changed time so he could save his mom. and then changed part of that tmeline back; leaving his mom dead and switching around a few items on a store shelf to help clear his dad of charges.
or even Batman from the same universe when he wanted to kill Superman because he PERCEIVED him as a threat to the world, due to events in Man of Steel. his actions culminated into the Mother Boxes reawakening and bringing a herald of Darkseid to earth.
i would bring Dwayne's Black Adam into this, but he was just a guy merely trying to protect his country. the Justice Society wanted to come in and screw that all up just because Ms. High-and-Mighty, Amanda Waller, said so.

I guess Starlight is (to a degree) the only "good" person in The Boys. Even Billy Butcher, the main protagonist is a ruthless killer and exploiter. Yes, his grievances against Homelander and Vought are legitimate, but those grievances can easily be spun back on him by his victims.

Losing Butcher would be tough for their Group. I don't doubt that M.M. can handle things instead, but the job would eat him alive, and he would suffer the same fate as his father.

@@crypt5129 People like to throw the word fascism out without even knowing what it means, heck many historians and political scientist cant agree on a definition of it. Only governments can use fascism, and there is only been "two" governments in history of doing that. Germany and Italy both had dictatorships, used military power for conquest, used nationalism, and racial rhetoric. Christianity doesn't even have its own state, doesn't have a military, doesn't have a dictator (can argue about the pope), and doesn't use racial structure (all are welcome). So Christianity and fascism don't align.

Not when the entirety of christianity is a fascist state, christianity is a belief system, and fascism is a political ideology. If you look at 1930s-1940s Germany, most nazis were christian, and they used christianity to justify their political positions, there is debate over whether or not Hitler himself was christian. Italy I'm not too educated on tbh, also Germany and Italy were not the only fascist governments lmao, but if you look at modern fascists in the US, let's just say only self-identified ones so you can't argue that I'm just assigning labels to people I don't like or whatever, 99% of them claim to base their political positions off of christianity. Christian fascism is a combination of the ideologies of christianity and fascism, and considering all the shit that's been said and done in the bible, it's not a huge leap, christianity is about surrendering yourself and your morality and everything to a higher authority, a God, someone who is just better than you in every way, therefore cementing hierarchy into the very ideology with a belief in natural social hierarchies being the main basis for fascism. There's also the fact that God has allegedly done multiplebgenocides according to the bible, all of which are framed as good because he did them (an example being the flood)
