Audi R8 v RS e-tron GT: DRAG RACE

- It’s time to find out which Audi is the quickest over the quarter-mile - the Audi R8 V10 Performance, or the RS e-tron GT?
Now on paper, the RS e-tron GT should easily snatch the win. Its two electric motors provide four-wheel drive and combine to produce 646hp and 830Nm of torque. As a result, it’s the most powerful Audi you can buy in 2022!
In comparison, the R8 comes with a 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 that’s good for 620hp and 580Nm of torque. So it’s no slouch, but ultimately it provides less power than the e-tron GT! However, there’s one key difference between these two cars. Whereas the R8 weighs in at 1,595kg, the RS e-tron GT is a whole lot heavier, tipping the scales at 2,345kg!
So will the weight difference prove costly? Or will the instant release of electric power push the e-tron to victory? There’s only one way to find out - LET’S RACE!

Let's be honest here, I don't remember seeing the R8 ever beating any car they put up against it. It's like they're trying to punish the R8.
It's not particularly a fast car compared to its competitors, it sounds great though.
The r8 is naturally aspirated and heavy. It's not about straight line speed

Id like to see several brake tests in a row. 1) measure shortest 2) estimate fade 3) get a feel for repeatability. Let's face it, the 1 foot you won by could easily be a difference in when each driver started braking. Actually should probably be a tie in less than a couple of feet. Either that or at least confirm with accelerometer.

It's the batteries, they're hilariously heavy! I suppose if and when ultra lightweight power systems make a debut that will be genuinely that for performance ICE cars... but that's not going to be the case for a very long time I'd say!
@skylined5534 very right you are! Unless they can get batteries to be much lighter, there is no way the big performance companies will go for it. Look at Germany and Italy blocking thag law for the EU outlawing gas cars 10 years from now. Ferrari, Lambo and Porsche said hell no. Even Pagani have given up on EV research cause batteries just don't work when it comes to weight (their words) and Porsche pledging to keep the 911 gas for as long as possible

its strange, my R8 V10 Plus always does a 10.6 on the 1/4 mile. Maybe better fuel (102 Octane) here in germany.

You could also throw the Taycan Turbo S in there as well and I think the 911 would still just edge it out.

The launch of that battery car was in Scotland during winter, it completely exposed the real range limitations and inability to charge it anywhere outside of a city.
Put these two in a circuit and the e-tron GT won't cope with the braking and turning of each lap
