Ken Block Hoonitron v Audi R8 GT v RS e-tron GT: DRAG RACE

- Mat’s lining up in the absolutely incredible Audi S1 Hoonitron, and he’s about to go head-to-head against an Audi RS e-tron GT and an Audi R8 GT!
So let’s see how these three incredible Audis stack up. Starting with the S1 Hoonitron, it’s a car you would normally expect to see smashing out doughnuts rather than running in a straight line! However, it can still pack a mighty punch, with its two electric motors delivering 680hp and 640Nm of torque! What’s more, even though it’s packing a 50kWh battery, it’s still fairly light, weighing in at 1,620kg.
In comparison, the RS e-tron GT is packing an 84kWh battery, and it tips the scales at 2,345kg! However, just like the Hoonitron, it also has two electric motors, and these combine to put down 646hpp and 830Nm.
Then finally we have the R8 GT. It comes equipped with a glorious 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 that can produce 620hp and 565Nm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed gearbox, and it’s the lightest car here, tipping the scales at 1,570kg.

respect? they blatantly had the guy in the R8 short shift and come off the gas. Watch again with the volume up. The R8 rolls over the quarter its obvious on the second one. Never trust events organised by Audi or BMW they have been caught faking many outcomes. BMW got numerous programmes like 5th gear to fake a race between a 1m and an s1000rr where it made it look like the car could hang with the bike. It is widely regarded as the biggest fake race in history.
@@logitechg5604 It depends. Whenever I drive from Poland to The Netherlands, I love my friends' 3.0 biTDI A6 (autobahn) But anywhere else, I prefer my 2021 BMW 330i.

VAG cars dont drive well even the newer electric steering porkers arent that great to drive now go look on the porsche owners club they guys own them all so know exacly whats what. Porker guys were worried that the VAGness creeped in to far when they announced the electric steering, surely enough they've been proven right and its not even a debate on there now. If its not debatable on there then its certainly not on here with a bunch of folk who dont own them. Audi handling is wooden even the models they enduced the chassis oversteer in like earlier R8s and some of the newer models with the drift nonsense on them are nervous as it gets on the transition. The rest just understeer into a wall for no reason. Thats Audi in a nutshell.

So in the Video of Jean Pierre Kraemer a Engineering of Audi said that the Hoonitron puts up around 3000nm of torque per axle, so the car has around 6000nm combined. Also the axles can twist 180 Degrees. That because of the difference between full throttle and like the wheels going backwards

I have actually enjoyed watching Matt do some Drifting in various cars the start of the videos to warm up the tires, I have more respect for his ability behind the wheel knowing he is more than a straight line specialist who never turns off the traction control.
Wouldn't mind seeing some Drifting challenges at the start as a part of the show to display the cars capabilities a bit more.

The S1 Hoonitron is no joke. It launches like a slingshot and completes the quarter mile with a time similar to the Porche 911 Turbo S which is just in 10.1 seconds. I definitely wasn't expecting this.

The Hoonitrons torque on the wheels is 3000NM per axle so combined 6000NM.

You need to explain this in full technical detail because this is just misleading information without technical correction comparison
@@Pertev777The torque of the motor itself is around 640NM but then it is spinning around 35000 1/min. Of course you can't drive with 35000 1/min, so there is gearbox that lowers the RPM and rises the torque from 640NM per axle to 3000NM.
@@inflash_vrtx3781 exactly. Don't forget that other sports cars also has extreme high torque figures in the first gear. For example, I'm telling this for 8 time, the 918 Spyder has a torque of over 11000Nm in the first gear

Well, out of the 3, I'd rather be inside R8 GT hearing that glorious V10. The sound of the Hoonitron reminds of a bad time at the dentist.
The video organized by Audi was kind of a marketing strategy boosting their EVs lineup. That's why when Mat tries to make him do an engine sound, the guy starts explaining that EVs are emotional and so on. Also probably that's why they didn't bring a quattro V10 (not convertible) and just use the rear wheel drive version, and maybe also that's why that car loose the break test... This happened, again, after many videos that the results of the drag race were announced at the very end of the drag race rather than after the completion of the rolling race and break test. And that is what is the right way.

Definitely wanna see that R8 GT vs a 2012 R8 GT to see the differences in generation.
I heard in an interview (with jp performance) because the motor is spinning fast af (high rpm) and because of the gearing it adds up 3000nm of torque per axle at the wheels, the 680nm is motor output.
The hoonitron doing it's warm up reminds me of the 80's rally Quattro's stance and way it moved.

0:42 some more detail on the stats: while the motors each just have 320nm of torque, they rev at up to 28.000u/min. Combine that with a 12:1 gear ratio the car puts *6.000 nm* to the wheels in it’s drift setting
