Directed by Justin Simien, the film features an all-star cast ensemble cast including LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Chase W. Dillon and Dan Levy, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Jared Leto as The Hatbox Ghost.
Inspired by the classic theme park attraction, “Haunted Mansion” is about a woman and her son who enlist a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters. The film’s producers are Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, with Nick Reynolds and Tom Peitzman serving as executive producers.

I love the twisting halls, stretching walls, and disappearing windows. The mansion is only sturdy when it wants to be.
If Disney can pull off a scary movie, that would be really something worth celebrating
They actually did, twice. Look up "Something Wicked This Way Comes" and "The Watcher in the Woods".
So, that must be Disney's very first Halloween horror movie, like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and more!!

I love how we have a comedy version of the haunted mansion in the 2003 film and now a more scarier one. This is exactly how Goff and Anderson wanted the attraction to be like. Scary but also comedic.

Honestly, I still can't process the fact that they managed to get the doombuggies into this. These trailers are already worth it. Hopefully, the full movie lives up to the hype.
Actually the entire segment from 0:14 to 0:24 is the bride sequence (at least in Magic Kingdom). It was added after a refurb about a decade ago. They have an entire sequence of headless husbands, with the bride and her ax at the end. ("I do, I did." Lol...)
Also at 0:28 and 1:03 is the Library, complete with busts. That's in Magic Kingdom's version, but not in Disneyland's, I think.

This is what Disney needs nowadays. Instead of cashing in on those unnecessary live action remakes that's getting stale, make a new story, in this case based on their theme park rides into movies. Even if it doesn't work, i still apprciate their effort in trying something new. Just like Tomorrowland which was a pretty underrated movie and prefer to watch that over the Disney remakes

I mean... it wasn't good either. Especially once you actually go on the ride, learn about the making of it the several stories of each mansion of each park. Plus the fact that it's the last ride Walt Disney designed... the '04 adaptation was like they took a huge dump on it

I love how they are including the hatbox ghost, given that he wasn't part of the ride for very long.
He was originally in the ride when it opened in 1969. But they removed him because his hatbox trick wasn't convincing enough. Fast forward to 2015. The imagineers decided to give fans back the Hatbox Ghost in celebration of Disneyland's 60th anniversary. 🎉

Ok finally something interesting from Disney. The haunted mansion with Eddie Murphy is one of my favorite as a child.
Did anyone else notice that in the scene with Ben holding the Candle, after the Hat box ghost said,"I do like suprises", the Candle had a face and was moving.

This is not a reboot. If you realize the old one was at the Disney World mansion remember, each mansion has its own story and it’s only luck, and you would realize that it wasn’t the original Disneyland on a mansion, but the one in Florida.

They went with a VERY different route from the 2003 The Haunted Mansion movie, which is good. Finally NOT a remake, but a complete re-imagining.
As long as this movie has the singing busts from the ride, I’d watch this movie.
Second trailer and it's looking even better. love that it's sticking to a very creepy feel and seems to reduce the humor quite a bit. Was very uncertain originally, but now I'm all in on this.
Yeah, what killed the original movie for me, was that it was way too goofy and not scary enough. But the humor here is great. Owen Wilson as an exorcist is just amazing!

And it's a shame too because it does have that creepy effect. These modern studios an producers just want to incorporate humor into everything
For this movie though, they’re probably gonna take away all the comedy away from the mansion ghosts and give it to the human characters, despite the original ride perfectly mixing comedy and horror together, instead of it only being scary or funny.

@Sam That's exactly what they're gonna do because that's what Disney does when they think it's the only way they can make profit....it's a pathetic strategy. And nobody said the movie had to be all scary and creepy.....it's a Disney movie after all that makes no sense bud. But obviously there are ways to differentiate and normalize it in a way that works for all critics and fans. It's just pure greed on Disney's part and they just took the idea as an excuse to profit, not caring how it looks. It's whatever makes the most money

I remember being terrified of this ride as a kid. Now that I'm fifteen with an obsession of movies, this will be a fun and interesting way to experience the ride!
When I was 6 years old I went on that ride and when the doors slammed shut in the stretching room I just started screaming 💀 so I relate.

Davy Jones ripping out a guy’s eyeball on screen:
One, Rosario Dawson’s character being named Gabbie and spelled that way has me soooo happy. Two, Captain Gore hint at the end as me SCREAMING. Three, the Hat Box ghost looks amazing. Four, it seems like this plot is exactly like what the predicted lord of the Hatbox Ghost and Constance Hatchaway had been implying. That he was her accomplice/secret lover who helped her with her killing
What was the Captain Gore hint?
@@dannyfain3961 towards the end the character Ben opens up the door and some water rushes in and a harpoon covered in seaweed and barnacles is launched in and spears his headboard. Then the water rushes in and creates a wave in the room and the outline of a man’s face is in the water. Also I think very briefly you can see a ship in the distance when he opens the door! To me that just screams Captain Gore
i honestly am such a huge fan of the captain gore theory, that’s the one i’ve always really adhered to bc it ties in with potc, but a close second for me is the gracey constance one. i’m so excited for this movie, and i’m really hoping it delivers on telling their story well! i’m so down for some constance hatchaway backstory and character development!!!

Fun fact: Guillermo Del Toro originally wrote a screenplay for this, but Disney wanted it to appeal to kids, so they got the writer of Ghostbusters to re-write it.
That’s honestly what worries me a little bit. Katie Dippold really bombed the screenplay for the 2016 ghostbusters film and she doesn’t have a lot of experience beyond a couple movies and tv episodes. Really hoping she proves me wrong with this.

I just watched this movie and it was perfect. Laughed, cried, smiled, and almost fell off my bed a few times with my big jump scared self.. I was at Disneyland the year it opened, yes that old, I love the honor this movie bestowed on the ride itself. I am in the ticket line if they make another.

outdated horror movie tropes like Steven King's The Shining and the Exorcist, just brilliant! After watching this trailer, I'm convinced all Disney-philes and children will flock to this movie! Kudos, standing ovation!

There's no way this doesn't flop. I'll be surprised if this movie actually succeeds at the box office. Almost every Disney movie based on one of their theme park rides fail. Plus every Disney movie released this year has failed so far aside from Guardians 3.
The film itself though surprisingly looks decent.
They better have the hitchhiking ghosts, that has always been my favorite!
If they can nail the horror aspect of the Abominable Snowman/Yeti and combine it with this type of humor, they can nail the Matterhorn Bobsleds ride film next.

I’ve been riding the haunted mansion for 25 years since I was a little kid and now it’s finally coming back in o theaters again .
I have been hyped for this for a while, but I just have to say, I hope that this movie is just a freaking movie. No social commentary, no dumb hidden agendas, no diving into current events. Just a movie about people in a haunted mansion. If it can be that, I will enjoy it, regardless of how objectively good or bad it is. This trailer gives me hope though.
If Disney pulls off a not only horror movie but COMEDY too that isn’t fully targeted for kids imma be beside myself
Loving this! And it seems like the Hatbox Ghost has a big role to play. Not just a cameo, which is a big win for me. He is my favorite of the ghost at the mansion :).
