Certain individuals started claiming it as sexual assault or some crap, despite as far as I'm aware there was no soild hard evidence to back this up, but Disney esstentially forced him to step down from the company. In many ways, it sounds very similar to what happened with the likes of Vic Mignogna.

Think of the most popular animated features from say the mid 1990s to the mid 2000's. I can bet you that it includes films like Toy Story, the Incredibles, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo. The presentations were not only well put together and polished, but also contained good, memorable stories. Then Disney came along, with it's reputation for animated success and vast amounts of money and took Pixar, turned it upside down, shook every good story-driven, creative drop out of it and then left it, propped up by non ideas men who in some ways did try to reignite the spark, but without the heart that comes from a good story. Then in frustration, Disney have sacked the workers in a failed attempt to return the wonder of Pixar. Sad, really.

In case people wonder why even failing CEOs are still paid loads of money, it's because the way corporate structure works, a CEO has the company by the balls. That's the implied top item of his job description. "Grab hold of our balls!" If he starts feeling dissatisfied, he can do immeasurable damage to the company, even if the board of directors would step in and fire him. Iger's eight-figure base salary is peanuts by comparison.

I still think Pixar can be saved. Sure their last few movies haven't been up to par with their best work (Coco was their last masterpeice, and that wasn't THAT long ago) but most of Pixar's films have had redeeming qualities, despite glaring flaws. 'Soul' was close to being great, if they'd only just left the lazy Cat shenanigans out. 'Turning Red' didn't quite work but it also had its moments. 'Elemental' was too formulaic and wasn't well thought through, but it still managed some charming characters. 'Luca' was lovely, actually, but ultimately forgettable. "Onward' is quite niche and looks more like low rent Dreamworks Animation, but I reckon its one of Pixar's better films from the past decade. The exception being 'Lightyear', which I couldn't even bring myself to finish- terrible.

Some of the sentimental types out there may not agree, but in my mind, Pixar faded into oblivion between Wall-E and Up. Wall-E mixed satire at the direction humans were going and slapstick humour. Up was taken and Disneyfied and made saccharine-sweet and left me as a viewer wondering at the formulaic events that led to a heartless, soulless Disney production.

Unless the fired employee was pro-freedom of speech then its just a point-and-laugh layoff.

Why should Pixar employees are the only ones getting fired when Lucasfilm, Marvel and Disney animation Studios also failed to turn a profit ?

lol they fired the wrong people. They should have just dumped Iger. Anyone who cost me the money he has, would have hit the sidewalk a long time ago. And he could forget about a job reference. I cant tell if Iger is stupid, or just plain gullible.
