  • Quick skills with skater and trainer Lana Luvhurts for your personal training sessions.
In Episode #5 we have the "Glide & Go", a fast way to slip past blockers on the line for your jammer toolbox. This technique combines two skills, the spread eagle and toe stop crossovers. It's one of my favorites for boundary evasion because you maintain good speed and still have a lot of control, including the control to get off the line quickly if the opposing team seals up your exit. It's easy to modify with different toe stop exits (e.g. shuffle, grapevine, forward sprint). If I need to shave off speed suddenly on entry, I just pop down the toe stop on my gliding foot.
    Thanks for watching! xx

Hey, I just saw your comment. That's a bummer you don't have roller derby in your town. I started playing in a small town where we were always struggling to keep our numbers up but even with a small group of skaters, you can learn a lot and have great fun. Maybe you can start the interest by finding some other skaters to just skate with on the regular, sometimes all it takes is a few skaters skating for others to take an interest in learning how to skate, plus you'll have some skate friends to practice footwork and drills with. If that's not an option, you can work on your own skills, always moving forward towards some goals, and you'll be ready when some derby or other skating adventures are possible for you...like skate camps! Good luck, and keep rolling!
