Totally disagree, Games was fun, Derby boring.

My god those were the days. Did anyone notice Lester Quarles is smoking a cigar INSIDE the building? lol

This must of happened after. Jerry Seltzer closed down the Roller Derby and Roller Games from SoCal took over and made it into a circus. I read that the Derby skaters were sick to their stomachs in having to give in to this side show.

I actually found a New York Chiefs fan club newsletter on Ebay that had included a retirement statement from Mike Gammon and Judi McGuire. Judi said that she and Mike were pulling out of Griffith's ISC and retiring because they were fed up with the BS they had to take from the ISC and felt that it would be detrimental to their skating careers. After watching what happened once Roller Derby closed down, I can't say that I blame them.

Bill Griffith made the biggest mistake of breaking up the original derby teams and adding the theatrical junk on them. The derby teams should have been left alone and be their own respective league as the north league and the roller games teams as the south league and have a few interleague games then a championship playoff games and see which team wins the championship trophy either from the derby or games. This ISC idea Bill done also broke up some the RG teams which was not a good idea that they almost disapeared for his attempt thinking it would become a better and more exciting sport that was not. He thought his idea would please everybody but as a result the derby skaters were not happy that many left the new league so fast that the ISC would quickly crumble.

There was no real reason minus saving some money on all those player salaries as a lot of talent was dumped. Less teams meant less games too being played nationwide. Then too remember it all costs money too. Problem with both Seltzer & Griffiths was they wanted total control of all the teams as well. There was no real independent ownership of the teams in the league.

Don't know why I never caught his earlier. Bill Groll never skated in this game.

Elmer Anderson was a great announcer.

Earlier in his career perhaps. I believe he was much better as a color announcer.

I don’t know how they became the
Canadian “BRAVES”. In Canada, they were known as the “ALLSTARS”

And they weren't a heel team in Canada. Saw them back then a few times live.

Let's take Roller Derby and turn it into an absolute clown show. It's a shame because there were some hall of famers on the women squad.
