Auspex : "Here are the lists to start eldar army"
Me : "Ok, I'll get the Wraithknight"
I saw that the other day. I've never played but it made me want to make an aeldari army.
*We move through them like a blade through air* (Eldar had some of the coolest Dawn of War 1 quotes imo)
Eldar were also turbobroken in Dawn of War, amusingly.
Dawn of War 1 (and 2)'s quotes definitely pushed me to start collecting this army. A pity GW's own lore doesn't seem to show them in nearly as a good a light.
@@boyanpenev9822tbf, DoW2 had Eldar being ABSOLUTELY insufferable and quite stupid.
Which makes sense for how they are in the lore.
@@Adunaphethoh no you’re attacking my base with your massive army? Now have fun finding it at one of my 500 portals, also viper go brrrrt

It’s a shame that so many of the competitive models are either discontinued and near impossible to obtain or resin models. GW knows that they’re strong but refuses to update their kits. Its so uncanny seeing Aeldari get shafted in the lore and model release but having the strongest game rules
considering that discontinued/resin models are also quite expensive, it is pretty fair to say that aeldari is kind of pay to win. even more so than usual 40k
You realise the competitiveness of a unit changes every couple of months and it takes significantly longer to create, design, manufacture and ship new models? It's just this edition a lot of forgeworld and resin models are viable for a lot of armies
Anyone would think they’re trying to clear a backlog of product by making it good in game…
Support 3rd party if GW isn't going to support their own game
GW puts a problem, and 3D printing solves it.
Thanks for the shoutout Auspex your a legend 😉😎
No trouble at all :)
I just started an Aeldari army this week. It does feel like a faction where just buy what you think looks cool, and you'll be able to have good casual games regardless of what units you have. Also a very good army for custom paint schemes.
I run corsairs/ ulthwe themed army and do alright. It feels like there current rules are the reason I can do this tho
I don't recommend buying oldest models, especially aspects because strong rumours and common sense suggest GW is going to roll 2nd wave of updates to them this edition. Aspects should all be plastic soon
I run a Biel-Tan theme, entirely Aspect, but I swapped the colour scheme to be primarily green rather than white. Makes them look more threatening.
Sure, they're not meta at _all_ but I enjoy painting them and playing with them. And when they _do_ work... Oh mama...
They're all beautiful sculpts. It's what got me into the game in the first place.
The start collecting box for Eldar is very very good.
I would do a Squad of 5 of each aspect warriors + each unique characters of those. Just for collection or painting. Maybe the Avatar and a Farseer on bike.
Is the Farseer riding the bike with the Avatar sat behind or the other way around?
@@jamieparry6420 avatar driving of course
I think it’d be fun to see an auspex tactics battle report, where he doesn’t show his face, of course
You are the best. I just decided yesterday that I want to start Aeldari 😄
I have my Combat Patrol and a box of Dire Avengers. It is my first army and I'm learning to paint too. I do love my space elves. Expanding is difficult - because I'm learning to paint, I'm not doing Harlequins yet, even though they are cool. So maybe the new Striking Scorpions and a tank next. I'm just doing rule of cool, thematic is more important than meta. So I think I'll get the Dark Eldar CP because the value for those crazy boats and an Ynarri force. Wraiths and a Spirit Seer?
if you do go wraithguard go with axe and force shield load out. Use more mobile units (Vypers &grav tanks) mounting bright lances for anti tank work rather than the short ranged wraithcannons on slow moving wg (unless you're going to put them in a wave serpent)
Get a falcon tank and some fire dragons. The falcon will always have some use for you but it also combo's really well with the fire dragons to kill tanks without being considered op by any sore loser opponents.
"Thematic is more important than meta". Pray, a man of quality.
I have just started myself and those are the same units I've purchased for myself. Though I threw in an Autarch for good measure.
Right now, just having fun putting them together, picking a color scheme and deciding where to go next. I'd like the play some Combat Patrol and get a feel for a small game.
Also, couldn't care about the meta either. I picked the elves because I like their lore and how they look!
Thanks for the shout out :)
Love your content
No trouble, hopefully will let a few more aeldari collectors find you :)
I actually just started my Aeldari army, and I’m going the full blown Saim-Hann route with a ton of bikes. Current 3000 point list I’m working towards is:
an Avatar of Khaine
an Autarch
an Autarch Skyrunner (proxying a Shining Spear Exarch cuz the Skyrunner model be old)
a Farseer Skyrunner
a Spiritseer
a Warlock
3 units of Defenders
3 6-man units of Shining Spears
a 9-man unit of Windriders
a 3-man Warlock Skyrunner Conclave
a 10-man unit of Ghostaxe Wraithblades
2 Wave Serpents
and a Webway Gate.
PancreasnoWork must be excited
Exited for the wrong reasons (;
For those who intends to seriously get into Craftworlds from the start I actually recommend waiting a year or two until their 2nd wave of plastic refresh comes, which is basically guaranteed to come in this edition.
Thanks for the vid! Just got a combat patrol box and the index cards...I'm coming back into 40k from 2nd and 3rd edition.....whew...ALOT has changed...jeesh....
I haven't played anything yet. But I've been collecting and painting and plan to start playing later in the year when painting is finished.
I don't know if this is good at all but here is my collection:
2 wave serpents*
2 wraithlords*
10 guardians*
10 storm guardians
10 voidreavers
10 voidscarred
10 howling banshees
10 dire avengers
10 rangers
5 wraithguard*
5 wraithblades*
2 autarchs
1 jain zar
1 asurman
2 farseers
2 spiritseers
2 warlocks
12 jetbikes*
6 shroudrunners
1 fire prism*
1 webspinner*
* marked units are magnetised for build options.
I would like to add two more wave serpents and increase the guardian units to twenty. Outside of that not sure I would add much. Maybe a wraithknight. Some reapers or striking scorpions in falcons. No idea. I just collected what I thought looked cool. Going with the idea that this is a small aeldari fleet that hires corsairs for extra muscle.
I've barely gotten into the hobby, but the list I'm planning (more thematic than competitive) is;
Autarch + Fate's Messenger, in Storm Guardians
Jain Zar + Howling Banshees
Howling Banshees
Fire Dragons
Shroud Runners
2 x Corsair Voidscarred
Wave Serpent
2 x Falcons
Hemlock Wraithfighter
2 x Crimson Hunters
2 x Dark Reapers
2 x War Walkers
(Until the next balances, this is 1995pts)
Basically, its a supposed to be a combined arms sort of army, a decent mix of infantry, tanks, indirect fire, air support, though in retrospect, I should probably make more room psykers.
Personally I'd drop the voidscarred, hemlock, one of the crimson hunters and a falcon. Replace with another war walker, more bikes, a farseer and if you want other tanks like a night spinner or fire prism. The planes aren't super great right now, and the voidscarred are cool but aspect warriors or tanks will do more for you for similar points.
Night Spinner/Fire Prism is hard to find, and expensive when you do@@Some_Cool_Dude
@@Some_Cool_Dude Most of those are reasonable and effective changes, but;
- I got the Voidscarred as part of the Boarding Patrol (which is why Jain Zar + Howling Banshees are on the list) so not including them would add to my pile of shame. In a unit of 10 they'd go in the Wave Serpent, in which the Fire Dragons and Banshees are each going in Falcons
- Having 3 War Walkers leaves me with an odd amount of heavy weapons. Sure, I could try to source extra Bright Lances, but getting 2 means one with double Missile Launchers, one with double Bright Lances, which is neat enough
- Farseer Skyrunner + 3-9 Shuriken Cannon Windriders is something I'm considering, just its hard to squeeze the points in, especially since Guide works best when combined with a death star unit
- Fire Prisms I definitely want, but those have been rarer than hens teeth everywhere. There was a time when I could have gotten a few at a LGS but now they're eternally out of stock. I don't mind 3D printing them but I suspect it won't be quite the same as real deal
- I get that aircraft are late to the party and unexceptional, but I still like the idea of air superiority.
As a T'au fan, I really love the Eldar version of mechs, the various types of Wraith units. They look so cool! I want to build a Wraith list. From what I've seen, they're great in this edition, and having the Spiritseers to boost blocks of Wraithguards is a must have. I'm thinking like 3 block of Wraithguard with a Spiritseers each, a couple Wraithlords, and some Wraithblades perhaps
I'm busy with an Iyanden army for Epic. Always loved Eldar. Haven't played 40K in many years, always been kinda tempted but GW never make things easy
You should buy whatever you want, do you want to be the guy who turns up with 2 wraithknights or 3 fire prisms every game or do you want a nice assortment of (frankly) beautiful minis? I'd always recommend the latter
Anyone here play rites of war? My introduction to 40k and how I fell in love with the eldar.
Now that is a name I have not heard in a long time. It was one of the more unusual Panzer General clones.
I play Aeldari for a long time now, not my main army but I like them. I always go full Biel-tan style. Autarch with wings as commander, 1 Avatar of Khaine and then Aspect Warriors, each aspect at least once, those that need it with serpent. Maybe, just maybe, also with Ynnead, because it´s an Avatar.
I lose most of the times, but I enjoy it.
A white dwarf back then where Black Templars fought against Biel Tan Eldar was what brought me into the Eldar.
I dont care what anyone says, I love my Yme Loc Storm Guardians
Remember, Fire Prisms/Night Weavers and other Eldar stuff is GW Direct, so you can't get em offline and most discount websites will only have them for full price or thereabouts.
Only eldar mini i have is Maugan Ra since hes one of my favourite characters in the setting.
One day i will make a little army surrounding him.
48 inch Range Go brrt
What is the rule on Proxy figures for Phoenix Lords? I've seen some really cool alternatives online and since the original sculpts are old AND hard to come by I was thinking of finding some proxys for them.
i made a funny 2.5k list for eldar, i would love to use this on my brother ahha bonesinger with weeping stone, bonesinger with fates messenger, farseer, farseerskyrunner, guardian defenders (whatever platform gun is cool i like anti infantry here specificly) and a phantom titan titanic ghostglaive and phantom pulsar :b
anyone know where i can find a competition list to start collecting?
GW thinks the can stop me from making a Corsairs army by locking them behind a boarding patrol and a kill team, rather than just making a regular kit. Little do they know that the dreams of pirates never die.
Aeldari competitive lists in a nutshell:
Yncarne, Fire Prisms, Night spinners, Warp Spiders and Asurmen or Fuegan. Fill the rest with Wraiths or Seers. :D
Personally I'm more of a collector so I have a bit of everything and probably no synergies at all. I just buy the models I like :')
I have the Warp Spiders... None of the rest in my list 😂
So... Only 1 model designed within the last 10 years. 😂
I'm still trying to get to 2k points with Tyranids, so I'm not trying mew armies ATM.
I'll probably start collectind Eldar (and Votann) with the upcoming Combat Patrol Magazine, premium sub and all.
I picked up the Death Jester, Troupes, and Void/Star Weaver to start my army, I want the mobility of the Eldar without the over powered meta units. Anything that is TOO good will get the nerf bat hard eventually.
You wait until combat patrol launches in 1 year and wait another until they reach the knife ears
Or buy one box now and magazine copies later?
@@Brickfrog427that works too
Let's see. Unit of 10 wraithknigjts with seer, 3 night spinners, a few units of warp spiders for secondaries and that big teleporting god thing. Yeah that pretty much does it.
Well... 10 Wraithknights would pretty much do it, heh
I assume you meant wraithgusrd
I bummed GW switched from Biel Tan to Saim-Hann for the box art...I liked having a mostly unique Eldar army...now everybody runs Saim-Hann. Gonna have to paint shit blue and go Ranger army.
I managed to get a great deal on defenders for £25
My favorite faction!
I just wish it had more female HQ options...
Literally any Eldar model can be female. They don't have any sort of ban or rules against it like some other races. Just put a chick head on whoever. If you mean CHARACTER options? Well, okay, but don't they have Yvraine AND another Jain Zarr, who is like unstoppably good?
@@FercPolo Yes I like Jain Zarr story-wise, but I do not like her models head lol. So I will have to look for another good option
@@noragrey7016a good paint job can make even the ugliest model a little bit more slightly!
I and many others use Amalyn Shadowguide from Rogue Trader as a proxy for Illic Nightspear.
But otherwise yeah, almost all of the Eldar models can be marked down as male or female, only certain kits explicitly separate the two.
Same! I'm currently planning to build my own Farseer because there's no female option 😕
Step 1: wraithguard
Step 2: Spiritseer
Step 3: Sell both and get the Avatar of Khaine
Step 4: Win every match
You don't start an Aeldari army, the Aeldari army starts you
I started collecting a harlequin army in 10e bc of gw removing them from being their own faction
Unfortunately, GW decided that the coolest thing about Ynnari, which was the triumvirate, can be used in the same way in Craftworlds, which is quite disappointing and also goes against the lore.
New HQs inbound this year
Step 1: Acquire Wraithguard
Step 2: Use Fate Dice
Step 3: ????
Step 4: PROFIT
Step three is phantasm. Silly Mon’keigh
Hey guys I want to start an harlequin army. Any tips ?
1 DJ, 1 Solitarie, and a few troupe boxes. You make the troupe master out of the troupe boxes
Wait for the codex to see if that will even be viable.
In my opinion no one uses Aeldari like Aeldari. It seems to be common to use swarm tactics with Jetbikes and wraith units. I personally think wraiths are overused. Basically it’s more meta gaming which has its place in tournaments but for casual players or people trying to learn the game, this direction is sort of just not fun.
The reason Wraiths are so prevalent is because they were in the Start Collecting box so it's kind of natural that would occur.
Best way to start an aeldari army will be on second hand markets 15 days from now 🙃
I already play Aeldari. Gonna be snatching harder to grab models for cheap when that happns
Why will it be cheaper? The data slate shouldn't be that bad?
@@bonkstrum9555people have been crying about it for a long time
I'm curious as to why GW changed Eldar name to Aeldari?
They can't copyright Eldar, Tolkien came up with it.
New year new army I guess…
I have a necron army. I want to start an aeldari army because reasons......
Speak of the devil, i was just searching this question
not even gonna watch before posting this how i started was with ah wouldnt it be funny to have a pink wraithknight
Step 1- Wait for a full range of new sculpts
Step 2-...
New range of sculpts... Hahaha.
A dozen sculpts over two editions, with all but two being updates, is the biggest update since 4th edition.
40K eldar - old minis and losing to everyone in the lore, so you might as well have powerful rules now on occasion.
@@boyanpenev9822You are exaggerating . It's extremely obvious 2nd wave of Eldar updates coming during this edition with all the rumours and tracking GW release pattern, heck first refresh coming ahead of time through Kill Team like Striking Scorpions. 99% next update wave is at least the same size as previous and putting Craftworlds core range into plastic.
@@ruslanhoncharenko2179 That is what Eldar got in 8th and 9th. 9th was their biggest update since 5th if you count forgeworld, 4th if you do not, and it was about kits (3 dual - autarch, corsairs and guardians). 8th had 4 including the terrain piece (the gate).
There may be a "wave" in 10th. We'll see.10 models would just about take out the resin.
How to start aeldari: just wait for their refresh please
a brief history of the refresh into plastic
4th/5th ed was Avengers, wave serpents wraithlords and war walkers
6th ed was making the farseer & wraithguard plastic
7th was new bikes and finally a farseer/warlock bike after being an option since wd127 25 years previously
end of 8th was new banshees & jain zar
9th we got plastic avatar, reapers & maugan ra, shining spears, resculpted guardians, corsairs, rangers & sniper bikes
10th we're getting scorpions so far
unannounced as yet fire dragons, hawks(currently a 3rd edition sculpt) and spiders (2nd edition sculpt)
Be careful starting an eldar I've a massive eldar army and my friend wount play against me if I use them as he cannot win cos eldar just to good ha ha

Another tip is
Don't
Oh no. They live in your head rent free?
@@Whoknows21356 nah just hate elvis
I haven't painted eldar models since oct 2023. Mainly because I now realize that the setting of 40k has nothing to offer me. Warhammer 40k revolves soley around the imperium. In terms of lore Imperium players get the entire pie 🥧 and non imperium players get to eat the crumbs at the bottom. It's like tipping a waiter a nickel, i mean it's better than nothing but what the fuck am I supposed to do with a nickel? I'm not invested in the setting anymore because 99% of the time when my favorite faction shows up they get thier ass pounded by the writers. I'm now more interested in Corvus Beli infinity and Yu Jing. Corvus beli has its poster boys Pan Oceania, but they make it very clear that Yu Jing is looming over them while Pan O is a house of cards waiting to fall apart. Pan O is afraid of Yu Jing while the imperium in 40k isn't afraid of anything except for maybe the necrons if they all wake up. The imperium of man doesn't have a rival empire thet can threten them of a substantial level because the imperium is so huge.
First you must signed up on Grindr...
Used to have thousands of points worth of eldar, the most specialised army in 40k, unlike marines where everything is a generalists mess of T4/S4/3+save, you have to work together to win, you have to make sacrifice units, everything needs to work together with a back up or you just lose horribly, I've no clue how they function in the current day, I might have a read over the new codex sometime... you know what, I'll go on wahpedia and actually have a look at it.
Looked at it.. what have they done to my game.. it's been butchered!, oh well... I had a full list of things to say and most is no longer applicable, the new FOC style makes me think the game was re-written in a way to appeal to the simple minded, field what you want, we don't care!.
Oh well.. at least the box sets are still scams and not something you should ever buy to start eldar with, if you want aim for balance, don't go too far in one direction, aim for something like 3 units of dire avengers and 3 half squads of rangers for bodies, the rangers for harass, sacrifice and bait, the avengers for simple firepower and capture.
Then aim for what you want to shoot with such as a squadron 2-4 of war walkers with scatter lasers and a half unit of dark reapers with a missile launcher is a lot of firepower, with a back up of banshee's for counter attacks if they are melee focused, scorpions will do too, you can even use them as threatening infiltrators even if they won't really do that much damage... a lot of players tend to go I see there for I charge/shoot wasting a turn on sacrifice units.
For quick units to back up the dire avengers and revenge troops for the poor rangers... harlequins and warp spiders work very well with their ability to bounce around, I'd even say a unit of shining spears could go well but I always saw them as a fun unit than really worth it.
After you get all this it's just really down to your personal play style, I preferred foot eldar far more than tanks but a falcon with fire dragons is a mandatory tank hunter unit for how well it does it's job... the new stuff past 5th ed I don't know much about, but even then, tried and true would still likely do all the work you need.
Tldr: don't.
