I just bought this laptop, and let me tell you, you will not need a desktop computer anymore. I have a desktop with an i7 processor, an RTX 3080 Ti graphics card, and 32 GB of RAM, and this laptop outperforms it.
I’ve been following CJ since looking into buying the Samsung S10+. He’s never steered me wrong. Another great video as always.
I appreciate you!!!
It makes sense that this would be $3,000+ dollars. The specs are top notch.
Exactly! It’s top tier
Rather get a desktop with 4090 for 3k then buy the new aw 32 4k OLED 240hz
@@CJKnowsTECH but as for me MSI Raider 18 is better. It has one more usb and power supply connector installed on back of laptop, which is more comfortable
It's 4990 Euro in Italy... top gaming laptop prices are out of control here. I still can't understand why this huge difference
@@lucal7756 say thanks for EU government)
I have a Strix Scar 17 2021 and it’s the best purchase decision I’ve ever made.
Asus knows how to build good quality gaming devices with great performance.
Yeah I was legit impressed by the performance of this device for sure.
MSI Titan 18HX 2024 is better
@@AnonymousBoss1 I don’t trust MSI, my previous laptop’s chipset burned after a year of use, the repair service had to replace the motherboard. Two years later the dgpu started failing causing bsod, had to disable the card so I could keep using it.
FINALLY! Been waiting for a beast of a laptop from ASUS since I purchased my ROG G703GXR RTX 2080 in mid 2020. This would be a great upgrade to my current laptop. Can't wait to get my hands on this. Great vid 👌
Was literally just looking at getting this laptop. Great review. Earned a sub from me 👍🏽
Great video. I wish I waited to buy the 2024 g18 strix instead of the 2023. The 2023 g18 screen is not HDR. :(
I don't think I will need an upgrade for a decade after that rtx 4090 laptop ,very much appreciate the vid
Great video. Not sure if you mentioned but how does compare to the your MacBook M3 Max? Or is it M1 Max 14 inch.
It actually holds up extremely well and you can game on it. There’s another model from Asus that’s more of a MacBook Pro competitor as it has the look and style. Hopefully I’ll get that one for review next
I wish the modern laptops would have an option for using a desktop cpu in them. The msi gt 76 titan and the alienware area 51m back in 2019 both used the intel core i9-9900k desktop cpu with 95 watt tdp and tdp is lower on the intel core 14900hx and it's a newer processor with more cores. The msi gt 76 titan can be overclocked to 5ghz with all 8 cores. The tdp between the intel core i9-9900k tdp is 95 watts and the intel i9-14900k tdp is 125 watts which is only a 30 watt difference. The msi gt 76 titan has robust cooling and the newer laptops can have robust cooling like the msi gt 76 titan but the manufacturers want to make the laptops thinner. What's next, the manufacturers going to make laptops as thin as a piece of paper and have no ports because even usb c is thicker than the piece of paper. Performance and robust cooling needs to be the standard among all manufacturers instead of sacrificing performance just to make the laptops too thin. There should be more options for desktop laptop workstations with desktop cpu's in them like the 2019 laptops and thin and light laptops for the users that don't need the power of work stations. The current so called work station laptops still use the same mobile processors as there non mobile work station counter parts. There is barely much difference between any modern mobile work station laptop and non mobile work station laptops since they use the same processors and components that are interchanged between each other.
Well one main reason is battery life and because it's a laptop it's not always going be to plug so your laptop will need to work even more harder, back in 2019 battery life for those was really a major things but now it's about getting great performance with or without the plug.
is it possible to plug 2 4k monitors in ??
would you reccomend the 4080 version of this
Now try the MSI Titan HX 18, it's the scar but turned up to 11
I wouldn't say that.
Yes, but the price is 5500-7000eur and no availability in my country...so I had to settle down with the scar 18.
I need me a 18 inch scar
Under intensive gaming does it need cooling pad?
Should I get this or the Mai titan 18
Great review!! 🏆😊
Thanks
Hi CJ, Great review, as always. Please tell me how I can get hold of the launcher/ themes you use on your phones.

Main question.. how many hours can i play
Thanks for the info I needed a new gaming PC my MSI GT76 titan is showing its age. Nvidia RTX 2080 to 4090 is a good boost👍🏿
I have the 2023 4090 zephyrus and I also have 2024 4090 Scar 18.
Zephyrus is a cool little laptop with extraordinary power for it's size, dissapointing cooling and low wattage of max.125W, which unfortunately shows in terms of GPU raw power.
but Scar...Scar is a beast...
4090 shines in this form factor. Yes it is big, but I tend to get roughly 50% more fps than from zyphrus 14g...in forza horizon 5 at least. I also had a full blown high end PC rig with 4090 strix&7800x3D and I can confirm that Scar 18 with it's 14900hx is damn near close, with the extra bonus of portability.
I have sold my PC rig, I am selling Zyphrus 14g and keeping the Scar 18..
I respect your video cj! Though the MSI Titan 18HX is better!! Plese do a video on that notebook! 💯💯
If I can get contact at MSI I got you
The MSI Titan is more expensive. I don’t know if it’s better
Mejor no es vi una comparativa y tiene mucho más rendimiento scar 18
I'm waiting for the Intel meteor lake ultra cores to come to the scar titan etc.
What is the Difrent the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 18 RTX 4090 2023 VS the same 2024 with 4090?
2024 has miniLED display, faster RAM and 14th gen Intel CPU.
No backlit keyboard?
Most definitely has a a backlit keys and it’s RGB
Its per key rgb keyboard fully customisable
I think my laptop have a problem, my screen freeze for a second or two after i open a game and there is a sound like of disconnect usb, can someone help?
I think that’s advanced Optimus switching from integrated graphics to the dedicated cpu, it’s a heat / power saving trick. Long story short it’s normal from what I’ve heard
Curtis Johnson? Lol
I'm finding hard to choose between this and lenovo legion 9i
18 inch > 16 inch

How much fps warzone
No mate. This ain't the meanest laptop there is. That would be the gtx 1080 sli laptops from 2017 which cooled a collective 300w of gpu power, the same amount as the desktop 4080 and not that far off the desktop 4090's usual comsumption. On top of that, they cooled a oc'd i7 eating 60 to 70w itself.
Then you have the 200w rtx 6000 quadro with 24gb of vram and a die size 24% larger than the desktop 4090, crammed into a 15' 3kg laptop and running off just a 300w brick.
And that ''4090'' is pretty pathetic compared to gtx 1000 and rtx 2000's gtx 1080 and 2080/super since those were the same as the desktop gpu's. Infact this ''4090'' mobile is just a desktop 4080. And that too gimped. If it had a 230w tdp it'd have had 20 to 25% more performance almost matching the desktop 4080.
Lastly, that 18' laptop could very well fit a desktop 4090 with a 250 to 270w tdp considering we have 400w bricks now.
I don't know how long you've been reviewing laptops for, but this video is full of misinformation and information provided without context,
I wish i could afford this . Can you make a video on a gaming laptop for $1500 or less
I just got a Lenovo Slim 5 with 32g 2TB with a 4070 for under 1500 on Amazon but it just went up to 1600 and it's a beast doesn't overheat ,fans are not too noisey ,but speakers are a bit low .
Other than that it rocks!
@adriatics.3357
Not sure but after playing for like 3 hours it barely feels warm to the touch ,I'm also inside with AC and running a cheap cooler. No drops in FPS or anything so far. I've only had it like a week, but it's a beast for what I payed.
@adriatics.3357
Ok the highest I've seen so far was 71 Degrees Celsius and that was during a 4 hour playing session at 2k 175 FPS on Mw3 and Warzone on Performance mode and over clocking it a bit more than the factory overclock settings and the fans brought it back down to 56 -57 Degrees Celsius. I also use a cheap 20 dollar LP cooler I bought on Amazon that also raises it to different heights and was inside with my Air Conditioning on in the hottest room in my house wich I'm guessing it's about 72 Degrees Fahrenheit in there and like 92 Degrees Fahrenheit outside.
So far it stays cool ,and preformance is way more than I expected from the Amd 8845HS , Rtx 4070 version and i got 32 Ram 2 TB , but still think maybe I should of gotten something with an RTX 4090 12 Vram but it would of been about 1500+ more US and only 16 Ram and half a Tb - 1TB . Also saw someone selling one with some kind of AMD 12 Vram graphics card used for what seemed like too low of a price so seemed kinda suspicious. All in all this works great, I'm very happy with what I paid and had it almost 2 weeks so don't want to take a risk buying something that's gonna heat up or have problems.
I hope this helps you out, I'm new to windows but feel free to ask me anything and if I can answer it I will.
cod mw3 90 fps ?
Those were ULTRA settings😂 easily getting higher fps w/ adjustments
its cool n all but cod needs fps u just need to lower it to 1080p
how high doe@@CJKnowsTECH
I plan on getting the somewhat new Alienware M18 R2 laptop with a 4090, I9 INTEL Processor, 64gb of ram, 16 GB of graphical memory and with a mouse, mousepad and the computer it'll be almost 4k. Should I get it? I've read conflicting opinions some people say that Alienware is terrible other than their laptops which are supposedly decent, others say everything they make is garbage and to get a Razer or ASUS but the ASUS from what I've found doesn't have the same amount of RAM as the Alienware
Get the Razor unless you could get the Alienware on sale
@@user-ks6rj9ob2q got it! Thank you for the reply!
bought the 16 inch 4090 one , its good lol
How are the temperatures? Cpu max temps?
@@adriatics.3357 depends where you live bruv, see my country it hot , so the temps are on the higher side (outside - 40C , temps - 65C-75C
i use a whole Window AC to cool my laptop lol
@@Real-Hg-Mercury fair enough. Im between the 16inch and 18inch one. Idk what to do.
Good as a productivity desktop replacement with video editing work?
Absolutely! I have the Asus Zenbook ProArt 16 RTX4080 and that's a powerful enough beast as it us!
Have the same laptop now for just over a month and it simply amazes me how well it runs-it’s a total beast. I was initially hesitant because of the price but then I said buy once and cry once-no regrets.
The only thing I’ve changed on it is the virus protection. Upgraded to Norton as I’ve always had issues with McAfee-seems to work much better.
Yeah, I got a cheap camera. I just do not understand Asus's cheap choice. shh by the way my MSI 18 in is faster on games
1st, thanks.
