Light is my favourite anti hero
When I heard the premise of Death Note (teenager finds a book and can kill people by writing their names in it) I thought it would be about this teenager struggling and debating about whether and how to use the Death Note.
It really fascinated me that Light didn’t second guess himself and instead starting writing down criminals names like a maniac.
Well he did freak about it for a few mins but didn't take long b4 he said screw it ima kill em all lol
Death Note is what I used to introduce my older sister to anime, I fully expected her to be like wtf is this wierd anime shit even tho it was still death note but it truly can hook anyone
I have watched Death Note twice and it is truly a masterpiece.
Same more than twice, but the first time I finished it I thought to myself I will never get this moment of shock back because I truly thought light would win

I remember when Death Note was airing... I couldn't wait for the next episode to come out! I was so invested! Many anime I watched got me invested and I did wait for the episodes... But this, this one was something else!!

And episode 2 maintains that excitement imo, you feel that someone is truly coming your way and u want to see how it unfolds and by the end a new battle begins,
obviously making it so u want to see more.

Very nice video. It has made me reconsider which anime is better to introduce my friends into them. Death Note was the first anime I watched completely so in essence it was my first in general. And I do think there is a certain degree of the Hero’s Journey here. It’s a interesting thought I had never considered.
Also, a small correction: It’s Joseph Campbell not James.

@@Zero-ef4sc I'm glad you are enthusiastic about it, but it is widely agreed upon that the "L" part is the better part.

Glad you stand by your opinion man. Also glad to see you support creators being forced to extend their art work for the profit of other companies. Because you know, neither Ohba or Obata wanted to continue the series past L's death and created two very sad mimic of L to extend it for other people's interests. They were not prepared and their hearts were not in it, this is literally a parallel to Bakuman. With both of those aspects, it isn't hard to tell why quality dipped without L. Very cool man, very cool.
Death Note has some problems, watching it again after I'm older I can see that it's not as perfect as I thought. Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing show, but some plot points are a bit weak. The first episode, though, is indeed perfect. One of the best ways of getting anyone into anime.

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is also great as a first Anime. I showed the first episodes to my mum. Before she watched it, she was of the opinion that she would never like any anime (not even Gibli movies). Now she sometimes watches anime with me.
The fist Anime I saw was Attack on Titan, because my classmates wanted to do a group cossplay at Comic Con. After that I went though the highest rated anime list and watched everything there that wasn't 500 seasons long.
Used this to re-hook my gf into anime once more.

I introduced my friends to death note and after first ep they were hooked, but after misa introduction show started going down hill for them and especially after L death. They still gave the show 6 and 7 so it was not horrible first anime, but could be better.
The first 10 death note episodes were super enjoyable. After it just started feeling boring. Still a great show but I wouldn’t recommend someone to start anime with death note

I enjoyed the first half of death note. But does anyone else think that after L dies the show just gets really boring? Things just seem to happen to characters, the new detective just works things out without any deduction. It looks like the writers just wanted to wrap things up as quickly as possible.
I mean, Near and Mello got the info L got, and both of them discovering all that info all over again is going to feel repetitive rather than how good the 1st half felt. 1st half is just the author 1-upping himself and showing greater and greater intelligence feats. 2nd half, the author just speedran the stuff we already knew, and everything else was as good as the 1st half. At least imo.
It was one writer who did the manga. The anime adaptation removed a lot of material from the manga after L died.

@@HxH2011DRA He's the first god I've seen to bleed out after one bullet. At least Zeus puts up a fight - Light's whole empire collapsed after he got way too cocky in the final stretch. Considering everything he sacrificed to get to that final stretch only to fumble it, he very well might be the god of idiocy.
