I know 2 brothers who were born in England. They moved to Scotland as Kids, and 1 has an English accent and supports England. The other has a Scottish accent and supports Scotland. I also have a close friend who is a Scotland fan that was born in England. Go figure!
Am Scottish, i support Glasgow Rangers and support the 4 British nations but i support Scotland first and foremost. I'm English, 28 years old, but have supported Portugal since I was old enough to care about international football. People find it mind boggling, but as a Manchester United fan, the England team was always full of the likes of Terry, Lampard, Gerrard, Ashley Cole etc, players that I spent all season absolutely hating, and I couldn't bring myself to then cheer for them just because they have an England shirt on, so I picked a team that had zero players that I didn't like which just happened to be Portugal. Not long after we signed Ronaldo and Nani so that just compounded my support for them. Admittedly Liverpool then signed Raul Meireles and Deco went to Chelsea so that kinda ruined my logic but by that stage I was a committed Portgal fan 😂

Jamie O hara clearly has little knowledge of geopolitics, whereas this phenomenon is unusual there are sub groups within societies across the world who might not support the national team of the country they live in, Catholic Jocks might support Ireland, Catalonians might refuse to support Spain, the same in the Basque, some Kurds in Turkey may support Turkey others may support anyone but them, there are Russian speaking communities in various countries who would support Russia despite never having been there, many communities in Argentina refuse to support the national side and instead opt for Spain, Italy, Germany etc, some Austrians depending on their family history may support Germany, Belgium is another Christ this has turned into a lecture!

This just highlights how little these english pundits actually know and understand about the old firm teams. Whilst it's certainly not the majority of Rangers fans that would support England over Scotland, it isn't all that rare either.
In case any english football fans are watching this wondering why theres some Rangers fans who support England over Scotland, it's largely because of how much Rangers are hated in scottish football and also because of the poor and unfair treatment they feel they received from the scottish football authorities, clubs and fans back in 2012 when they encountered serious money troubles. Think of it as similar to the way Liverpool perceive everyone in english football to be against them to the point that they boo the national anthem. It's like that but on a much bigger and more passionate scale for those who choose not to follow Scotland...

Born in Northern Ireland, supported them all my life. I have lived in Scotland for 20+ years. Have 4 kids to my Scottish wife all born in Scotland, yet two of them are Northern Ireland fans like their dad.
