This is like a 1990’s USN greatest hits compilation. The BigE, Tomcats, Prowlers, Hummers, and an OHP on plane guard.
Holy crap that was my ANAV! I was onboard for the final Enterprise Tomcat Cruise in 2003. Great deployment a day awesome aircraft.
Absolutely fantastic, makes you feel you are in the cockpit.
Man, one of my favorite birds ever! Best of the best for their day. Spent a lot of time at the Grumman factory where they were built in Bethpage NY. Nothing was better than seeing a Tomcat with the old Jolly Roger on the vertical stabilizers! Can you imagine being the poor soul that sees that on your adversaries plane? VF-84/103!
This stuff brings a smile to my face no matter the day I’ve had. Thanks, Flounder and Jell-O!!!
Sweet. Saw this a long time ago. Glad it's back!
Looked like a 4 wire, wow! thanks for posting! Did not realize those MBU-20/P oxygen mask have been around for over 20 years, wow.
Really neat! I was deployed on the Enterprise in 03-04 so was somewhere below when this was taped. Brings back many memories!
It seems wild to me just how far past the stern of the ship touchdown occurs. Super cool footage.
I think the one you really try for is the 3 wire. It's not good to get the 1 wire because you don't leave yourself much room for error even with the director.
@@Rogue-7.62 oh yea for sure the 3 wire is what you want…still crazy how far fwd it is imo.
Keep the Tomcat videos coming Jell-O!
Absolutely amazing.
Throwback or not it’s still very cool. A lot of money went into that flight. Pilot training no small part of it not to mention the carrier, aircraft and on and on. Looking pretty sharp back then.
Great video! The F-14 was just coming into the fleet when I was getting out. Fly Navy! ⚓✈️⚓💪 Beers to you! 🍺🍻
Was lucky enough to get to climb up the side a Tomcat when one of the carriers was in Sydney. I flew helicopters (GA), but dreamed of being a fighter pilot. Thanks for sharing.
Great footage! Thanks for posting.
This is so cool to see. The big cat just has a presence man. Second favorite jet of all time and she never fails to impress.
What’s first favorite?
@@FighterPilotPodcast The Strike Eagle, I love moving mud and the 15E just has my heart. Doesn't matter what it is or where, it's gonna find it, it's going to blow it up, and there really isn't much the other guy can do about it. And those nozzles 😍, absolute sensory overload to your ears. Plus it's kinda awesome that it's larger on radar than the actual jet. It's got that come get some energy that I'm such a sucker for. Feel free to get more Strike Eagle guys on the podcast, but I'mma listen to every episode you put out anyway 😂. Thanks for your hard work and we all appreciate the quality pieces you put out. Thanks and can't wait to see and hear more!
its precious, thank you for sharing!
This brings back bad and good memories for me (CV-62, 84-86). Thank god for not reenlisting, going to UT-Austin, meeting my wife, and graduating to a great life!
Awesome stuff thank you for posting 🤘🏻
Great video, Flounder. It brings back memories!
That was so damn cool, thank you for sharing with us
The fact the camera would have been the size of a brick makes this all the more commendable.
As I watched I was thinking how different the Ford Class carriers are today but then I considered that the hand gestures and location of the handlers on deck are the same.
Great video, thanks for sharing. What aircraft was to starboard of the Tomcat when they had the canopy up? EA-6? Don't think I've ever seen one in profile and it looks just a bit goofy with the stretched cockpit area.
Nice to see the 'Big E' in action - though it was after they removed the 'pineapple' off the top of the tower.
Awesome 😎
Haha just got done watching top gun with my brothers and I see this. Love it
I miss it but glad im not still there
Thanks for sharing! Fly Navy!
More please! I noticed the thumbs down for the maintenance folks. Any recollection why it was a down jet after that flight or most common reasons?
His video camera was low on battery 😂
Great footage! I'm guessing it was on super8 or some other wet film format?
Great resolution and no interference from the rats radars?
Love the old school videos!
great stuff!...no music the best
2004? Reminds me of my cruise on the E with VFA81 in 96/97 with the same mix of aircraft on the deck. I thought the 14 squadrons were converted to 18s by then.
The last tomcat cruise on the Enterprise was 03-04. The guy recording was the Assistant Navigator onboard with me for that deployment so the timeline is right.
What server are you on? Your retro graphics are RAD
Does not compute.
@@FighterPilotPodcast That's a DCS guy if I've ever heard one. Love the humor😂
miss The Cat !
It lives on in our hearts!
@@FighterPilotPodcast yes i know but..rather see her launchin of a deck
thanks for vid and Be Safe!
Man that's awkward being in the back. For a second there I thought we were doing a go around, and then the ship is there - bam! Does anyone know if RIO's were trained to fly? (or are currently also. lol I just edited out WSO's)
Hold that thought until the next episode.
I thought it was going to be a go-around, too! Such an awesome video! Thanks so much for posting this!
This is VF-211?
Yes.
0:26 Is the guy not aware that mics pick up the sound of idling jets...?
"cam-corders" were rare back then and he likely wouldnt have known until he replayed it. He was in the cockpit and it was quiet to him. I get you though. We just have everything we want these days. It's very rare to get personal cockpit video from F-14's
You shoulda saw what we went through just to load a single photo of b00bs! 😂 Patience, Danielson.
Well the first thing I would politely say in such a situation would be something on the order of, "Can you guys turn down the jet noise and such, because a guy can hardly think with such a racket carrying on."
Launch is similar to racing a double A top fuel dragster.
Vikings and hummers and queers oh my!!!!
This might be a stupid question but is this the same Enterprise that fought in WW2??
No.
