Yo everyone that has a brain knows there’s taxes and 15 million a year on a budget a average FAMILY would make that last over 15 years
And that’s minimum at spending 200k a year you can male that last over 30 years and Curry gets that every year. I think curry is doing fine
Everyone should know this. Theyre still signing for that amount of money. If someone says they make $100k a year, everyone knows thats not what they bring home.
Exactly if nobody knew this then they are dumb as hell
You are acting like they still aren’t making 6+ figures. I would still take that money 10/10 times. No questions asked. You could live off 15 mil for many years
with how much in a year?
Cam Gaines
You could live multiple lifetimes with $15 million.
Cam Gaines for life
Hardland stay on a budget of 200k a year and that'll last you 75 years
Yung Hive
Problem is, the average American will spend about 1/5 that much. 75*5=375 years, which is about 5 lifetimes.
People don't even see this kind of money in a life time, they should be ok.
The crazy thing is that it only grows more and more. The salary is nothing. Just see their net worth’s! And btw there is so many ways to do so you almost don’t pay any taxes which I really think the most athletes take part of
the stars make absurd amounts, the average player though I calculate around $1,000/hour ish (if im remembering right) and that's not including taxes. Avg player spends about 5 years in the NBA making 5 million or so per year. . .but when u calculate off-court activity + practice etc., it's less than peeps think imho. not to say they still dont make a decent amount, but!
I mean i would take that money either way
Kenyon Cooper yeah
I don't blame you
Kenyon Cooper Simple
now add in all the expenses and that money goes down even further. earnings + expenses, weather it is sustainable or not. a lot of athletes go broke because they spend a lot their expenses can't keep up with their earnings.
Kenyon Cooper facts. Me too
Yeah theyre broke when they can afford lamborghinis and bugattis
Escrow is a self inflicted expense, and 401k isn't an expense. that's his retirement plan, and I'm pretty sure Steph can hire a competent agent for less than 900k a year. Let's be real here. If Steph Curry goes broke, it's not because of his income, it's because of his expenses.
Nicholas Guerrero if it's a 200 mil contract the agents are gonna want 900 from curry it's just based on his contract amount
That applies to all athletes, even if your only in a league making 1-2mil for 5-6 years thats enough to make you live off of. If their just a little smart with their money.
@@mikelee7912 agents get 5-10% so at 10% that agent is pulling 20 mill off that contract, 10 mill if it's 5%.
@@stephenramos2824 2 mill over 5 years? that 250k a year pre-tax. post tax that's 125k, assuming it's only 50% of their money and agent percentage. they also are all living in big cities with absurd cost of living and need the extra security from being famous. I'm willing to bet after all is said and done the league minimum guy is actually pulling around minimum wage.
@@Kharmatos13 thats per season. Regardless, I live in a stupid expensive city so I'm well aware of the cost of living.
Moral of the story fuck taxes and everybody hates them
good way to sum it up
Make a video on how much owners make. I never understood how you can loose money owning a NBA team and why you would keep the team if it's loosing money.
darius jones they probably get their money back from jersey sales, ticket sales, sponsor and maybe ad revenue
-/-/-3 1 Their was a leaked report by that far guy who covers the Lakers I can't remember his name but it showed 9 NBA teams lost money last year with three of them being playoff teams and one being the Cavs.
They don't all make money some of teams are in the negative. Whats the strategy behind keeping a team that looses millions every year? Why do some of these teams even though their loosing money continue to remain in the luxury tax.
The Hawks are a team that I think was on the list for teams that didn't make money. They let Paul Millsap walk for nothing and traded Kyle Korver away so they wouldn't have to pay him when his contract expires. Then Dwight Howard gets traded my guess is they signed him because they thought he would boost ticket sales as a bigger name but when they saw that wasn't working they traded him.
On the other end OKC reported they weren't making money and they decided to offer Russell Westbrook the biggest contract in NBA history at the time and traded for two more big name players one who will command the max and the other alot of money as well.
Explain to me how much nba owners make and why they make the decisions that they do from a business perspective.
darius jones you don't actually lose your own money. You just make far less income than you normally would if that's the case and that's because less fans are showing up to games and less of the player's and arenas' merch is being brought.
darius jones if an owner made say 100,000 a month or something like that. Losing money would be that he makes 80,000 now
Carmelo Anthony That's not loosing money that's a decrease in revenue. The article said they lost money. Honestly even without the article I know some teams aren't that profitable because owners wouldn't be selling if they were.
damn you're really back!
im so happy ahah! you just slided in my top 3 bball youtubers again ehehe
Diogo Ferreira
Gayyy
Slided? Da Fuck? Learn basic English, unless this is your 2nd language if so you are doing ok!
Damn I feel bad for nfl players now.
Trust me!
I always say they should be making more and all guaranteed money
charlie davis Sucks playing a sport where there’s so many players for teams to figure out how much they could afford to pay them. Might as well play a sport with less players for bigger income or earn higher by being a golfer lol
I think 90% of nba fans already knew this
i'd say that number is lower because most are probably kids/teens
No they don't. Most of the people in Europe for example think it's after the taxes and agents and stuff. Media does this on purpose, glorifying USA.
401 k is still your money...
You have the most interesting NBA topics to make videos on. Thanks NBA Insider.
Thank you !
NBA Insider you're welcome man!

Thats youtube for you
Great video!! :)
Another great video
Great video. 👍🏾
Do people that play in Toronto get the Canadian currency or American money
Colby Chick Canadian just a lot more since us currency higher
toronto
but the thing is abt canada is they have a higher income tax so they get less money than american players
Canadian but less in numbers but more worth. Same amount in American dolars
What you dum ass
Man if I only took home 15 million because I had to pay taxes, I'd be PISSED. LOL
If I played in NBA I wouldn't be focused on the money I would merely focus on winning a championship
Also harden signed the richest contract in nba history.
Dominick isbshort how much ??
Thought it was Russell with 205m
Yh u right ignore that 😂😂
Dominick isbshort most but curry makes more per year
vids4u_ what bout Russ cuz he signed a bigger contract then curry enit ?
Good work
Great video!!! Kudo's..
I still don't feel sorry for these guys. They're not starving. Tax them.
U dont have the right to tell then shut up and play ball. Imagine u r paying thousand dollar for ur taxes every year but these people paying million dollars
And nobody feels sorry for some young dumbass broke clown who’s doing nothing with their useless life other then hating on people who they will never touch in a 100 lifetimes. Shut up dumbass
Come on don’t be a bitch these people worked their ass of to get to the league one day when u do a job u will feel the pain of paying tax
Yo great video bro. And yes as a kid we always yelled iverson before every shot lol. Or kobe
Respect brother. Kobeeee!!
awsome vid.
Your getting paid for playing basketball think about that
lilfish 68 not basketball ,it’s entertainment
Royd erm what? Do you understand my statement ? Because I had no idea what you trying to express
lilfish 68 It’s not as simple or as fun as you think. People hear about the millions of dollars, the championships, the fame, but no one ever acknowledges the long hours in the gym, the mental stress and trauma, and the desperation some players have to have in order to “get paid for playing basketball.” The true life of a baller is much different than it seems.
I know damn well that NBA Insider be making that money with that 10:01 minute video.
Lool if there wasn't so much CZcams drama then yeah
NBA Insider aye do whatever ya need to do to get to the bank.
Good to know this information 😌
EYYYYYYYYYY U BACK MENNN
Ayyyy u back
What a reveal. NBA players pay taxes? I had no idea! You must work at a bank or something. Thanks for the knowledge!
Everyone pays taxes. Wtf?
@@joshuatraffanstedt2695 sarcasm kemosabe
Remember all the shoe deals and other endorsements
Theres that too
Everything taxable
It’s still compared to European football players they earn hundreds of millions
Loved this!
Appreciate it!
"let's take a step back" 6:42 hahaha
What happens in case of injury? Does that affect the salary of the player for that year?
Now I know why the knicks haven’t won a championship yet to expensive for the players
Celtics have the record for most championships followed by lakers.
Yeah the beginning is me I wanted to play in the NBA but it never happened this is a great video really makes me think twice about the way players make money
Very good breakdown
Great video, if stating the obvious fact that we all have to pay tax is what you where after...I think you need to take a look at charity donations, it will make you understand things a little better. But your definitely smarter than most people.
Do you receive the exact amount of pay your job puts on paper? No!!! This is a shock to young people who never worked a job.
401 K isnt like taxes either. Its possible to make money on that. Way more
kinda for bad for the guys on like 1 mil contracts but what the the hell they still earning 6 figures
Are you serious? They're still earning way more than the average person
but a normal person works til they're 60... you retire from the nba at 35 so it has to last you a whole life
Christopher The Madcuz thats if you good the average span in the nba is 4.5 years
but if they went to college and got a degree or something they got a decent job to work for 30 more years + a few million to help along the way
THats if they didnt do a one and done crap
The state and Federal government man are the biggest rip offs ever
biggest thieves you mean.
That's what I'm talking about. Keep uploading daily like I told u yesterday pls
*but if you give to charity you get 50% tax right off*
so what I'm hearing is unless your a star in the NBA u basicly ain't makin no money 😕😑
Pretty much. Still making money, but not the big boy money.
NBA Insider Euroleague not looking like that bad of a place now lmao
If you're hearing that it's falseeee. This video is your most trash video insider. It's taxes, everyone knows about them. All nba players make more than MOST doctors. This was stupid
That's the way it is for all the big sports. In fact, if you scale it down, that is just the way the world works. The people with the highest production (bring in the most income for the organization) or produce the most, make the most. That is a fact of life. So if you are lazy you then tough for you. If you are hard working, then you might make it. You have to be hard working and talented these days.
@@LiiftYourself Europeans are actual socialists not try-hard socialists like democrats. In france the tax burden is like 70-80%.
Just remember even with endorsements deals, they get taxed too. I know at the end of the year, they will owe the IRS on tax day.
good video
It's criminal how much the government takes in taxes.
To keep the states running
This video is great for covering the business aspect of contracts and how their taxes and fees play its roles. But on the outer edge, It should also be noted that highly paid athletes (as well as coaches, managers, trainers, owners, GMs, and announcers) are the sole income provider for their close and extended families. Many athletes have even taken care of their in-laws (not just mother/father, but sister/brother in-law) Insurance for cars and homes and medicine. Property taxes/rent/utilities. Technical fouls, ejections, fines, Injuries and suspensions take affect (no play, no pay).
LeBron James smartAF
He really is
Right and didn't go to college
Sad
StayWoke than he went to the Lakers lmaoo. That tax is eating him alive now
@@ZayCold I’m pretty sure he’s handling it good
These poor poor guys. Having to pay taxes just like everyone else.
Yea the players still earn 6 figures but that's a fucking huge ass chunk of money being taken out of their salary that's a shit ton of money lost still
can you share what's the name of the music on this video
Do one on how much domestic players make playing overseas an if there's a tax cut since they play in a foreign country
Tommy Strawn that would fall under international business laws. They would be required to pay tax in both their home state and where they are playing. Unless they fully move to where they are playing and don't want to come back to the states.
dude is back
There's taxes either way... even lottery had to pay half of it to tax
you end up with 25% if you take the lump sum and pay the taxes on the powerball. everybody with money is getting fucked by uncle sam. the difference is these athletes gotta spend their whole lives training for their sport just to try and make it and a lottery winning just went to the store and spent 2 bucks and got lucky.
American tax are ridiculous! I dont feel bad for these jocks bcs they are still millionaires but taking half of the salary? That some bs
Anytime nba insider posts I have a little rebirth
Loool, my man!
Where do u get This from
Wow, so nba Players have to pay taxes?!
Who would have thought 😆
Your too much Ben 😂😂😂
Great stuff bro! I gotta get you on my podcast soon.
For sure !
I never called out “Kobe “ while taking out the trash I dunk that shit and yell out “Jordan “ like a real 80’s baby
That pun had me dead for a while
Omg they're so poor they only make 15 MIL DOLLARS
I sense sarcasm here.
Lool trust me, I wish I ONLY had 15 Million dollars!
the top guys do. the league minimum guys lose all their shit and don't have endorsements.
Don’t you make a lot money from making good vids
what is the 'escrow cut' of 10%? who gets that or is it put away for later like retirement?
oh thx you explain it really well 8:04
That's still a lot of money I would definitely take it, u should do a video on how much NFL get paid
I didn't know Milsap was making that much money....Also didn't know about the job tax either
Nipsey hussle at the outro
Someone knows good music!
NBA Insider Ay bro dope video wats the name of the song tho the beat sounds sick....
Imagine living in Sweden with a pay of 32 million per year. 50% goes away just for taxes
That intro was right true af
You forgot a few. HOOKER tax, Baby moma tax, Child support tax, Hey man you remember me tax, gotta buy moma a house tax, Court tax from every girl you smashed saying you the father of her children tax, the I'm gonna sue you cause your rich tax. The blackmail tax. Etc, etc etc
That's the price of being a successful Black male in America.
I have worked with many CPAs in the states who have clients that are worth a large sum as well, the numbers you are crunching here is just what you perceive from the information obtained online or via some manual research.
The fact of the matter is that beside tax breaks from the popular and well known means, e.g. Charity, family support, etc, there are other legal ways to lower tax obligations. These are all legitimate and not some falsifying of documentations, etc.
If you are worth a pretty penny as well, you will find that the actual taxes payable seem to be lesser than what you expect if you get a good CPA. Huge accounting firms that are elites in the industry are not just for show, this is what they do and how they justify their somewhat obscene retaining fee.
I feel sorry for players man imagine signing a 200 mil contract and getting only 90 mil 😭 i know 90 mil is a huge amount of money but compared to their life style it’s a small amount
Whaaaaaaaaat? I sure as shit thought athletes were tax exempt! Oh man my mi d us absolutely blown by this brand new to everyone information. How are you just on CZcams? You should be a dateline reporter, breaking crazy stories like this!
I always wanted to be in the NFL and play running back I close my eyes and only dream😌
🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
My bad bro😔
My understanding of NBA contracts:
If you get $20-million a season, you cut that in half. $10-million goes to taxes & other deductions.
Your $10-million is then divided over 12 months.
These athlete make more money off the court
But the weather is a million times better in CA than TX.
The title is a bit misleading. Perhaps it would be more fitting to say that it's how much they KEEP rather than how much they make. It is common knowledge that income is taxed, higher income is taxed at a higher rate, and different states and situations result in different overall amounts that have to be paid (good info on players being taxed for games they play in states other than their home state for the games they play there; I had never heard of that). These taxes are paid on the money someone MAKES, so saying how much they really MAKE seems to assume that there is something other than taxes that would be impacting the amount they are paid before taxes or, perhaps some kind of discussion about what they get beyond their salary such as endorsements (though I suspect that this does not apply to all players). Aside from this small issue of the title, it was a decent video, especially for those who don't consider or are unaware of how taxes impact income at those levels.
Yo, where is the intro beat from?
Gucci Mane - "I Get The Bag"
NBA Insider thanks man
No problem !
We're saying just 12 million for this year like that's $20 😂😂😂😂 them boys is stupid rich bro I wish I could get just 12 million this year good video tho bro keep doing ya thing
Let’s not forget New York has city AND state tax. It’s a lot of variables when it comes to income.
That moment when you realize this video is 3 years old😂😂
Ayyyyyyyyyyeee, Hardwood is spreading!!!😁
I never knew there were states that didnt give out income taxes. Is the regular tax lower?
Good question. Not to sure though
Everyone knows the real pay is off season endorsements and endeavors
Your right
league minimum bench guys don't get endorsements and they still owe 50% + to the governent and 5-10% to their agent if they do get it.
So I guess the average NBA player taking home like 5 mil per year
So basically a guy that was a 2nd round pick that only played for a few years is not set for life.
That’s why most get into business that make money while they sleep and surround themselves with competent somewhat trustworthy people
Takes years and years of hard studying and work to get to a good college then work harder to do school for some extra years and finally gets the job. Saves lives, influences people, contributed to help on drastic pandemics- gets paid 187k a year
Works for some years (not as much as a doctor u can get in the nba at age 19) and applies to a place just to shoot a ball that isnt contributing to any gain in society - gets paid 70mil a year
This is a great video...and the reason it's made is because of the misconception of "who" makes the most money. Who would have ever thought that Conley makes more than Westbrick?
The purpose is truly intended. People have to know stuff like this because it brings you back to reality, whether these players are millionaires or not. Net pay and Gross pay or two entirely different things, but the casual fan will simply look at the contract itself, not what they bring home...and argue their favorite player makes more than your favorite player, when in reality, this may not be true at all.
This is why NBA players go broke...living off of the "numbers" and not the gross salary. It's easy to spend millions as a player when you have family, friends, and entourage you have to keep happy, business deals and investments that can go bad, etc...that $15 mil doesn't look so nice after all if you don't have a good management team around you.
So the video does a great job in breaking down what that pay really looks like on the back end. If anyone is aspiring to make the league? Now you know what your pay will really look like.
I appreciate the insightful feedback. Really means a lot to me!
+NBA Insider - No prob. Keep em coming bro. Subbed!
Still no ownership. That includes teams, leagues, facilities, equipment, apparel. Other states will tax players too
I’m just curious but would the Tax be the same if u weren’t a citizen of the states like thon maker
Dexter Boase Ofc
Whats the name of that intro song
big difference between what you make and what you keep :)
Isn't escrow something that you eventually get back?
Thank you for pointing out the ridiculous nature of our tax system, where you can only keep about half of what you earn. This is why people hire tax consultants to shelter their money and are called greedy for doing it.
