    In this video, DIYNate adjusts the temperature control gauge / valve on his Price Pfister (Model PP 112.18.1) Shower. He adjusts the setting from B to A for the hottest temperature since his shower was not getting hot enough and was taking a considerable amount of time to heat up (wasting water). Use caution when adjusting to hotter temperatures, as water will get significantly hotter and could cause burning or scalding (consider the McDonald’s Hot Coffee warning).
    DIYNate encountered some challenges when trying to remove the faucet handle since the screw that secured the handle to the fixture did not completely release the handle. This required rocking and pulling on the handle to unstick the handle from the valve. Once this was done the handle came loose and the project continued.

    Thank you, Nate. I couldn't figure out how to remove the handle after 1 hour of searching Phister's website looking for a similar model. Fortunately, the handle in your video is exactly as mine.

      Thanks for the note, David! Glad to be a help! That handle is tricky for sure! I did find Pfister’s customer service team fairly helpful when I called to get a cartridge replacement as far as identifying and giving instruction on what to do. Appreciate the feedback - always like to hear when my videos help someone! Best wishes!

    Thanks Nate - I was struggling to get the handle off too, so once I saw you got yours off, I applied some.more elbow grease and worried less about snapping it off - nice and toasty now! And I have the same unfilled travertine as you, nightmare to keep clean ☹️

      Glad to help and appreciate you letting me know that the video helped with confidence on taking the handle off. I certainly had to experiment a bit with that myself at first. Great to hear things are warmer now! And yes - that travertine is a challenge - haha!

    Plumber installed the new cartridge but temp was too low for the wife. Tried the adjustment in thus video but couldn't get it hot enough without affecting the shutoff so I used a small file to increase the open slot area at the bottom and all is good now.

      Nice modification, Doug - good call on the file idea to get it up even higher. Thanks for letting me know and for checking out the video!

    I just snapped mine off because I was replacing the entire mixing valve. They will replace it for free because it has a lifetime warranty.

      Gotta love that lifetime warranty from many of these faucet / shower manufacturers - saves some $ and helps get the job done! Thanks for the comment!

    Mine doesn’t have that black adjuster thing so I can’t even adjust the temp dial

      I am sure there are a variety of types and fittings to this. Thanks for the comment and letting me know your model didn't match up. Good luck on the fix!

    I only get hot water and hardly any cold water

    • @DIYNate
      @DIYNate  Před rokem +1

      Hey Rick - this may or may not be related to the issue, but it could be you may need to turn down the temperature control valve. Could be something else going on there. Short of googling / checking the manufacturers instructions on the install, you could certainly try calling the manufacturer as they often have pointers that many of their customers are experiencing and can share common reasons why it may not be working correctly and offer a resolution.
      Good luck with the fix!
