@@Wint3r2 what are u blaffing about leorio was in the election arc and he was sooo good. Kurapica had his own entire arc which was the succession war arc and he was great too.
Killua is a transmuter like Hisoka, they are abe to change the quality of their aura, so Hisoka changes his aura into bungee gum(which has the properties of rubber and gum) while Killua does the exact same thing but his aura becomes electricity
And the reason it's so surprising to people is because it's like constantly electrocuting yourself; for most people it would be agony.
The Greed island arc is not bad at all, it’s just sandwiched between the most epic arcs in anime history 😂

Agree on that. Especially when this arc imo has a weaker villain heading it? But what can you do when you got chrollo before and the big m himself after this.
@@reheatedpizza7292how was it a basic Shonen afterwards? Chimera Arc wasn’t normal Shonen at all, in Shonen the protagonist always faces the main villain in some intense battle, that never happened(not to mention that the tone is different)

Even though it’s not my favourite arc, greed island is very underrated
The problem with Greed Island arc is that it's between two S tier arcs so it looks worse in comparison but on it's own it's a great arc.

Not my favourite either, but it has some of my favourite parts and characters.
I love Greed Island, but to me if feels like such a switch up on the show. But then again, the Ants next arc are even stranger, and that’s potentially my favorite arc of any show.
As someone who just finished Greed Island for the first time, I thought the biggest problem is that there was no quality villain to push the arc forward. The stakes never felt that high. It also felt like filler…you could have skipped the arc entire and gone to the next without really changing much. Greed Island is really just a training arc, which makes it feel like filler to me because you could skip Greed Island and all that would really be missing would be some training episodes

It's a very different vibe than the previous and next one after greed island.
This is one of the things that I love about HxH. Every arc feels and looks very different from one another. It's so refreshing lol. Like having multiple anime with just one show.
Also, I really like you guys' take on Ging 😄
Killua's category is Transmutation, which means he transmutes his aura into a different material. so, he turns his aura into electricity. Hisoka is also a Transmuter. instead of an element, he transmuted his aura into a substance similar to both rubber and gum.
Kurapika's category is Conjuration, meaning he turns his aura into objects. He chose Chains. Shizuku is also a Conjurer, whomst chose a vacuum. Since regular objects would be useless by themselves, Conjurers have a pattern of adding conditions to their abilities to make their conjured objects more powerful.
Gon is an Enhancer, so, no, he does not make use of fire. turning his aura into fire would be Transmutation, which would be counterproductive to have as your main ability as an Enhancer. you should try thinking more along the lines of Uvo, a master Enhancer who we saw at work in the early Yorknew material.
this isn't to say it's bad to make use of other categories in your ability's function, but making them be the very building blocks of your ability runs into the risk of wasting your potential. we don't want to be another Kastro, afterall.
The Greed Island arc is seriously my favorite arc in all of HxH. Yorknew and the next arc are awesome too (esp. Yorknew because Kurapika and Leorio are in it so much), but there is just something special about the GI arc.
I’m surprised this arc isn’t as popular, to me this arc is where gon and killua go from boi to man. They improve so much!

@@cellinhell11 I don't think loads of people say that they don't like Greed Island arc, it's just that it's not their favorite, and that's just a testament to the other arcs being really top tier, but GI is really good too, there's like no reason to not like it.

i just like it a lot because i feel like its a „trailer“ for what to expect next especially from gon, i don‘t want to spoiler anyone but i think y’all know what i mean.. also to see the first steps of the boys into the darker vibe but still the fun bubble of them being in a game, before it turns completely dark and serious😂 love all the arcs tho :)
I love the Greed Island arc. As much as people hype up the later "CA" arc (I love it too don't get me wrong), Greed Island is paced *way* better from a storytelling perspective
Yeah Chimera Ant Arc isn't even good compared to this.

I agree. While CA is good, it dragged for far too long. It's basically like 2 arcs in one, the Ant Queen Arc and King Ant Arc.
Remmember Carlie, their powers are related to their nen cathegory. Killua is a transmuuter like Hisoka, so he changes his nens property, him to electricity, Hisoka to elastic love/bungee gum. Gon's power is just focused nen
Hatsu is basically just a technique that Nen users come up with to define their fighting style and have unique abilities. For example Hisoka’s bungee gum is a hatsu.
For Killua electricity is a good pick since he’s used to electricity and it is a transmuter ability. You don’t want to have your best technique be something that doesn’t match the category you fit in.
Enhancers like Gon or Uvogin usually don’t need techniques that are as complex because their strength is their main weapon, but they can still make hatsus if they want to.
Hatsu just means acting with your nen. If you throw a punch with your nen, that's hatsu. When Wing sends nen into the wall to break it, he's not using any special technique, just raw nen, and yet that's still hatsu.
It doesn't have to be a special technique although special techniques are one of the applications of hatsu. But so is throwing a nen punch without any techniques. So yeah special techniques are a form of hatsu but hatsu doesn't mean special techniques.

Most nen users throw punches. I mean look at Silva and Zeno vs Chrollo. half of their attacks are just normal nen attacks without special techniques.
@@Arkayjiya I would still argue that their strongest attacks are some kinds of techniques. Besides this depends on what you count as a technique. Isn’t throwing a punch in a certain way also a technique? Anyway this just seems kind of pedantic
@@MrRolle-zf6dk If you call everything a technique, the word doesn't mean anything anymore. By your vague definition, Zetsu is a special technique too and yet it's not Hatsu either.
Even the most useless fighter who has never learned to throw a punch would be using hatsu if they threw a punch using nen.

The episode makes it clear what it means by "special techniques". Wing uses that term to refer to two things: Actual special techniques (like chain jail) and the strong attacks of an enhancer (not of *everyone*, he specifically says that as an enhancer, Gon could push his basics so far that every attack would be a special technique. But he doesn't say that every punch, thrown by non enhancer qualify as a special technique)
So no, Wing and Gon are not using that vague definition you're using where everything vaguely competent qualifies as a special technique.

I just came here to add a precision that while special techniques are a form of hatsu, the two words aren't synonymous as a clarification for readers/watchers. Not sure what's pedantic about helping people understand terms that are exclusive to the world of HxH
This arc is the best in terms of character building, Both kids are growing up together now, and train to face powerful competitors inside the game,
I love this arc and I picture it as a side story that is separated from the main events, of two friends that are becoming brothers
I have seen so many reactors dog on Leorio just to fall in love with him in the end. It never gets old and I love it. 😂
I kinda feel bad for Leorio. The anime kinda nerfed him compared to the manga. During the Zoldyck arc, he was able to open 2 testing gates to Gon and Kurapika's 1. He also participated in the arm wrestling whenever Gon's arm wasn't long enough for the opponent. But I guess he wasn't supposed to look strong yet
I love Greed Island arc!
So, if you wanna picture a master enhancer, look at Uvo from the troope, he didn't have any "special" abilities or hatsu. As Machi said, his Big Bang was just a straight right with a little added Nen (though she was downplaying it a bit), that's the reason enhancers don't really need special abilities. What Gon is doing is probably the same as Uvo but at a beginner level. Even so, that they don't NEED a hatsu, doesn't mean they can't develop abilities, it's just that most prefer to stick to refining the basics.
12:00 It wouldn't make sense for Gon to learn a fire technique because that is a Transmitter technique. Gon is an enhancer so he should learn an enhancer technique first. That was his enhanced aura glowing. Gings message was just to tell him to enjoy the game to the fullest.
But he could enhance his own body heat, making it hotter, to achieve something like fire. Not emitting fire or transforming his aura into fire, just making his own body heat hotter.
Considering both the anime and the manga, let's just say Ging is the MAIN main character of HxH. And he's dope af! xD
His talent and potential is even greater than Gon's!

Guys you should give up on our boys using "conditions". Killua said they should not do that and grow naturally episodes ago. Kurapika did not recommend to emulate what he did as it is so risky. Wing even mentioned in this episode to not copy what Kurapika is doing because he knows Gon(and Killua) already have huge potential to be strong with just knowing more about Nen.
In 1999 hxh greed island is my favorite arc. So nostalgic being a kid and a gamer.

I think Kurapika's training is really cool. Of course how would you conjure something that you didn't know intimately in every facet? Imagine trying to conjure something you couldn't even picture. It's like when you have stuff in a dream that doesn't work properly, doesn't feel right, because you're not overly familiar with it. If you didn't intimately know the weight, sound, behaviour, smell, taste etc. etc. of something, trying to conjure it would be like trying to use those unfamiliar objects in a dream. It would just be ineffective and random. Imagine Kurapike trying to fire his chains and it flops out like spaghetti and all the links fall apart with the weight of styrophome.

Greed island is actually my second favorite arc, I’ve rewatched the show so many times and this arc has the most replay value for me. My favorite arc is the one after greed island.

Greed arc i for one didn't like it the first time much .. but was soo much fun on a rewatch .
Chimera Ant arc's some parts were also like ehh the first time but the second time I thought everything was soo important and incredible just a little slow at parts .
While Yorknew arc is imo one of if not the most perfect arc in shonen without it being controversial like Chimera Ant arc

Greed Island suffers in comparison because it is preceded and followed by arguably two of the greatest anime arcs in history. But it is actually very fun. Gives us memorable moments. And is a nice expansion of the world. One Gon moment in particular heavily foreshadows perhaps the most memorable scene in this whole series.
Honestly while I like the arc after this one, I freaking love Greed Island. There’s something about it that has stayed so special and memorable even years after I’ve watched it as a kid.

Chrollo couldn't tell to the troup since it would trigger Kurapika's chain (he is prevented to communicate with the troup number), but indeed since Pakunoda transmitted her memory to part of the members they are awarre of Hisoka's betrayal.
The conditions are based on the individual's desired used and outcome from their hatsu. Everyone uses conditions, not just kurapika. They used his arc as a tutorial for what ALL good Hunters are capable of.

One more thing! Try to remember that conditions can have volatile consequences if you don’t utilize them properly; that’s why Wing doesn’t want Gon to emulate Kurapika and incur that risk.
I really like the Greed Island Arc. It introduces some great characters, develops our perspective on Nen and its vast possibilities, and gives some good character development.
Also, I can finally say this. Killua is my favorite little Thunderchild.

He's just too good to not let another music enthusiast know.
I can feel Ange love to Hisoka almost as much as Hisoka love to Gon rn.

"Did Chrollo tell the rest of the troupe" Chrollo will literally die if he communicates with the troupe so no, he didn't tell them anything xD But yes, the troupe know the overall situation from Pakunoda's memories. They don't know that the boss is looking in the East though, since he couldn't tell Pakunoda about it without dying, but they might be able to deduce it if they remember the prophecy.
Ging: "Yeah, that whole Phantom Troupe Arc where you almost died to find this game? Well, there are no clues to my location. I just wanted to show off the game I made with my friends."

My fav arc is from episode 1 to episode 148
Their abilities have some conditions, but nothing as crazy as Kurapika's. Basically, Gon's needs to be charged to get more power, like an Kamehameha 😆
While Killua has the proprieties of electricity to the point that he needs to recharge his "batteries" to continue using it.
This arc is so underrated 😊

Gon enhancers do not need a special attack just put your aura in one place. Uvogin does it with his Big Bang Attack.

Greed Island gets a lot of hate from some fans but I think it's the perfect breath of fresh air in between the 2 best arcs

The fact that it sandwiched between 2 great shonen arc is why it got unnecessary criticism. if it placed differently or an anime of its own, it would be considered one of the best isekai of all time. it was fun, thrilling, creative all around. Togashi don't missed.!
If y'all maybe want to watch 6 episodes at a time, i wouldn't be mad 😂. I really enjoy your breakdowns after the episodes. The amount of theories about the show you guys have already speculated and guessed is really fun and impressive at times.

It's not a huge deal, but I feel like you guys, Ange specifically talked over some of the dialogue which caused you to miss the conversation.
But that's what makes these reaction type videos challenging sometimes coz I understand they have to balance between watching and reacting to the shows. Again I'm not hating but just something I noticed.
