    Hi, I wonder if you could clarify something - do the difference size versions have different sized ND filters, or is it just the base magnetic ring that is different?
    (I would like to order one set of filters and some extra base rings in different sizes, but if that won't work then I need step-up rings instead)

    After installing the magnetic ring, does the base filter provide an air tight seal. Want to protect my 17-28 tamron for dust. The Grove for your finger to pull out the filter looks open

      @@TheHybridShooter correct me if I'm wrong, but the VND filter *is* made up of 2 CPLs, so you will get polarization effects when using a VND.

    In real world scenario, how often did you see yourself swapping filters? I have their original magnetic 2-5 and 6-9 stop filters. I only seem to swap them or remove them between daylight and sunset. The only scenario that I think this full set would benefit is to allow me to take off and put on the filter when I’m switching between photo and video recording.

    • @heyoBRAVO
      @heyoBRAVO Před 6 měsíci

      Honestly, that is exactly the appeal to me (being able to quickly switch between photos and videos). I took a regular screw-on VND with me on vacation earlier this year, and it was a pain putting the filter on and taking it off every time I felt like switching. With this magnetic system, it should be much easier.

    My only concern is the strength of the magnet. If you are shooting in a windy environment or accidentally bump into something, will the nd filters fall off? Also, did you notice any color cast or any vignetting?

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  Před 3 lety

      Magnets are generally strong enough, the only issue might be carrying the camera lens down and having the filter catch on something. I talked about the color cast in the video. There is no vignetting with the setups that I have tested with, but I haven't used it with ultra-wide lens.

  • @marioplus321

    I just received mine a few days ago in 95mm to work on Canon DF 28-70mm f/2. The system works pretty great in general. I believe this is the future of circular filter systems.
    But I did have an issue with the VNDXMIST on the Canon 85mm f/1.2. It was completely out of focus and the images were just blurry shots with this combo. Freewell says this may happen with certain longer glass. I will note that I tried the VNDXMIST on my RF 70-200mm f/2.8 and while there was a little softness @ 200mm, completely useable.
    Wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

  • @laurencohn3971
    @laurencohn3971 Před rokem

    Beware of the Freewell ND - I bought a set in the 82mm size, and they were wonderful. I bought them because of the neat stops (Haptic Feedback) when you get to the various ND settings as well as the hard stop at the end. The "haptic feedback" along with the excellent color and build quality were what made me decide to buy a second set in 67mm.
    BEWARE.
    You will NOT get the "haptic feedback" in the 67mm size which was one of the selling points of these ND filters. I reached out to Freewell's customer service as to why, and here is what they said - "Thanks for your message. They are exactly as it says on the box HARD STOP. Hard stop means that it should not go beyond 5 & 9 stops thats precisely what it does. What you are referring to is HAPTIC FEEDBACK which we have recently added in some of the products to see the feedback; it has not been applied to all the sizes & all the filters, nor are we claiming on the product."
    So a major selling point for these filters turns out to be a GAMBLE as to which ones have the "haptic feedback" or not. One star for misleading/omission of a critical feature of these ND filters.
